What happened that led me to be in D.C.? This happened. Kind of makes this weekend's B show - with its now anthemic #1 song - an interesting pairing, doesn't it? Speaking of which...
- HERE WE GO AGAIN: That Jose Feliciano "Star Spangled Banner" story once again...yup, it's in here too. Which means: With 10-25-86 as this weekend's B show, you were not escaping this story this weekend.
- AND NOT JUST ONE...BUT TWO: Another story tells of the oldest singer ever to have a Top 40 hit - Moms Mabley. Why yes, this is later retold in 1986 as well! 4-5 to be exact.
- Casey played the first verse of another version of "Queen of Hearts" by Dave Edmunds, which blended into Juice's version.
- Second LDD "Upside Down" had its second verse cut.
- How kooky is that to have Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham debuting back-to-back as the week's two highest debuts?
- #1 on the Album chart: Tattoo You by The Rolling Stones
- #1 on the Country chart: "Never Been So Loved" by Charley Pride
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Never Too Much" by Luther Vandross

Note: I just want all of you to know that I plan to have my recap of this weekend's 1978 show up soon but it won't be until sometime after 11PM Tonight. I wanted to have it up as early as possible but first KOKZ skipped the last optional extra and then I got screwed out of two other recordings due to Daylight Savings Time. Thus I have no choice but to actually listen to WODC's airing in real time at 7PM in hopes that the entire show (including all four op extras) will be played. When my recap goes up, it will be the latest I have put up a late 1978-'79 recap up since I did the 11/10/1979 recap about two years ago (when it was posted after 10PM that Sunday; I would have had it up sooner but I had to go to a dinner party then).
Sorry for all this trouble. It's really hard when so few affiliates are willing to air four-hour 1970's shows (and that small number will lessen soon with Casey Christmas shows being offered starting next week).

Lucky me: WJDX-FM (105.1 The River) has not gone all-Christmas...at least not yet! And I got to hear American Top 40: The '80s (the "A" show) this morning. Last year--from November 1 to December 25--the station had wall-to-wall Christmas music (except for a few New Orleans Saints games) and Casey's Christmas shows. So I had to do without American Top 40: The '80s for eight weeks. But on December 26, 2014, the station returned to the '70s and '80s.

I understand the chart is up already but I don't really care. I'll still post my recap just so I won't have to go through the living nightmare I went through this past weekend should Premiere air this show again.

WJDX-FM has gone all-Christmas after all. But, supposedly, the station will return to the '70s and '80s December 26.

And the four that drop out are: "Casanova" (LW: 40), "U Got the Look" (LW: 39), "Don't Make Me Wait For Love" (LW: 37), and "Boys Night Out" (LW: 35). NOTES: - Interesting that just the titles were read with only four droppers this week.
- Get a load of this superstar-laden countdown - or at least, acts that managed superstar-level success (such as Los Lobos). A grand total of just THREE acts in this week's survey never quite managed to ever have as much as a Top 5 hit - and they're all still in this week's Top 20! The rest all did, with many of those having past, present, and future #1s.
- My, what a difference a week makes - the countdown from the week before had Last Week's #1 played, with subsequent hours beginning with #31, #21, and #10. Contrast that with the layout of this week's countdown!
- Speaking of structure, though, maybe the AT40 staff should've laid out this week's show a bit more carefully - both LDDs this week are quite sad, and they both have really uplifting songs as lead-ins, when each had arguably better lead-ins in close proximity.
- As with the week before this one, there was a different mix of "Don't You Want Me" played - possibly its single version?
- This week's "Deja Vu": For 10-10-87, I pointed out how "In My Dreams" went 22-22-19-22 during its run, with its week at #19 being guest-hosted. Well, "The One I Love" does something similar - it goes 12-12-9-12. ("Hourglass", in contrast, goes 18-18-15-26.)
- Quite a few songs this week have the designated voice come in a bit early before the song's quite finished - there's both countdown songs and Premiere extras that do this.
- With this week's show, Jennifer Warnes joins the "both #1s in the same year" club (see also: Peter Cetera, The Human League, Steve Winwood), with both of them nearly on back-to-back weeks to boot!
- #1 on the Country chart: "Lynda" by Steve Wariner
- #1 on the Black Singles chart: "Skeletons"
- #1 on the Album chart: Soundtrack to Dirty Dancing
