- "Take Me With U" had its full intro, including a few more instruments than usually heard at the beginning.
- As mentioned, Casey played the live version of "Save a Prayer" (actually the B-side of the record) this week.
- Another week with "The Heat is On" getting the softer jingle. Happened another week, but I forget which one.
- Shockingly high number of peaking songs in the Top 10 this week - seven! I feel like that or more might have happened one week in 1982, but I'm not for sure on that.
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Nightshift"
- #1 on the Country chart: "Seven Spanish Angels" by Ray Charles with Willie Nelson
- #1 on the Album chart: Centerfield by John Fogerty

NOTES: - I suspect that the source audio for this week's show is its original vinyl LPs; static can be heard at times during "Angel".
- "Dreaming" sounded different than usual, like maybe a single version or a less-used album version.
- Well, isn't this a surprise - two shows in March with Casey not reading the #1s on Billboard's other charts, and both involving Michael Jackson! In the case of this week, though, we only knew in advance that the #1 Album was the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.
- #1 on the Album chart: Dirty Dancing soundtrack
- #1 on the Dance chart: "Thinking of You" by Earth, Wind, & Fire
- #1 on the Country chart: "Turn it Loose" by The Judds
- #1 on the Black Singles chart: "Man in the Mirror"

Cher, the only artist to score top 10's in her teens, 20s, 30s and 40s, as announced in this show would later extend that and get one in her 50s as well

- Station of the week: KOKZ (pretty much by default since they were likely the only station offering a four-hour show with all four optional extras before WODC airs the 1979 show later Tonight) - Yes, a March 1979 show is airing in April. As mentioned before, Premiere can't air the AT40 show from 4/7 since it was guest hosted by Bumper Morgan, a DJ at AT40's New York affiliate 99X (the station coincidentally was mentioned by Casey in this show; second straight 1979 show - after 2/17 - to mention 99X) - While it's not as impressive a chart feat as the Beatles having all of the week's Top Five songs (which happened 50 years ago this week!) or all members of the Fab Four charting with separate hits in the mid-1970's, Casey nonetheless brought up the fact that two ex-Beatles - McCartney and Harrison - had two debut hits as well as two Archive songs in this week's show - Of course the Archives feature another noted feat in Beatle history: The only time in which an ex-Beatle (Paul) was replaced by another (George) at the #1 spot. Incidentally, the so-called "Fifth Beatle" (Billy Preston) had the other Archive hit. - BTW is it just me or did Premiere butcher the beginning of "Big Shot"? - Casey noted Olivia Newton John was in the Top 40 for 48 out of 52 weeks. The weeks ONJ didn't chart were 11/11/1978 through 12/2/1978 (between "Summer Nights" and "A Little More Love"). Coincidentally, "A Little More Love" was in it's last week in the Top 40. - #1 Soul: He's The Greatest Dancer - #1 Country: I Just Fall In Love Again - #1 Disco: "We Are Family/He's The Greatest Dancer/Lost In Music" - Sister Sledge - #1 Album: Spirits Having Flown - The Bee Gees

- Another week with a lot of the bands clumped together, once again towards the bottom of the 40.
- Thanks to The Pet Shop Boys' cover being featured as an extra last week, this marks the first time in the 80s series that both versions of "Always On My Mind" have been heard on back-to-back weeks.
- "Fame" was an impromptu Extra.
- "When It's Over" had a fairly odd edit: Cut in half, it had what seemed like an extended first verse, one chorus, then...out.
- In what's probably a record, Casey welcomed 17 (!) new stations to the AT40 family this week. That's a result of ABC's purchase of Watermark Inc. in early 1982, and subsequent mandate of ordering the show to be on ABC-affiliated stations when possible.
- #1 on the Album chart: Beauty and the Beat by The Go-Gos
- #1 on the Soul chart: "That Girl"
- #1 on the Country chart: "Big City" by Merle Haggard

Falling out besides "Jacob's Ladder" by Huey Lewis & The News (LW: 28) are: "Respect Yourself" by Bruce Willis (LW: 40), "You Got it All" by The Jets (LW: 32), "Livin' On a Prayer" by Bon Jovi (LW: 31), and "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel (LW: 30). NOTES: - This week's Station of the Week: A recent addition to the 80s family, KKPR.
- It's the attack of the missing bumpers once again this week: Basically every "middle" segment pairing (like between 39 and 38, in the first segment pairing of 40-39/38-37) was missing one of the two usually heard.
- Story behind "I Wanna Be Your Man" as an Extra: Casey tells the story of the day The Rolling Stones met The Beatles, with one result being John Lennon and Paul McCartney writing the song to give to the Stones to record.
- Another one from the "Gotta Be That Intro..." files: Both "(I Just) Died in Your Arms" and "Looking For a New Love" received the softer jingle. The latter, incidentally, must have had a single version played, as there were grunts heard in the beginning that aren't usually heard.
- From the "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" files: Two out of three Starship #1s have now been heard there in roughly a month's time. It's actually likely that the third (first, actually) won't be heard at #1 this year, since both of its #1 shows have already been played...but, who knows?
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Sign O' the Times" (read as Casey stating that it crowned the new #1 here this week)
- #1 on the Country chart: "You Got the Touch" by Alabama
- #1 on the Album chart: Licensed to Ill by The Beastie Boys
- #1 on the Dance chart: "Looking For a New Love" by Jody Watley

And all three Starship #1's have been heard in that position in the last five months, as last November Premiere played the 11/16/85 countdown in which "We Built This City " hit the top.

Oh, yes - Casey also points out that "Heat of the Night" is the first cassette single to be released in the U.S.

Oh, yes - Casey also points out that "Heat of the Night" is the first cassette single to be released in the U.S. Which he would be proven wrong. The Go-Go's "Vacation" had a cassette single release five years earlier. Casey played it as an extra on the 6/13/1987 show - but Premiere deleted it when it aired in 2007 (and again in 2009). :(

I don't think this was a "Casey was wrong" case. At the time this show was broadcast in 1987, the cassette single was being pushed as the next big thing in singles. The first of those to be marketed as such was the Bryan Adams single.

NOTES: - As stated, this show was first aired in 2008. Oddly enough, it was on the exact same date/weekend that year as it is this year.
- Casey notes the previous week's Hot 100 debut at #44 for "I'll Wait".
- Some "American" Top 40 extras these turned out to be - three out of the four were by foreign acts, and the fourth was a cover of a song written by an Italian!
- The first two original segments in the final hour were combined to seemingly make one large segment - not the same as with typically bumpered-together pairs.
- Is it just me, or was the second LDD cut down quite a bit?
- No softer jingle this week.
- Casey manages to dodge an outright spoiler of the week's #1 song for the final segment, simply saying that next up is a song from the album that had just knocked Thriller out of the #1 spot. Incidentally, Casey said this was the 5th time it had been knocked out of #1 - so don't count it out yet! Nevermind that its 5th fall from the top, with no more singles from it forthcoming, would in fact be its last.
- #1 on the Album chart: The Footloose soundtrack
- #1 on the Country chart: "The Yellow Rose" by Johnny Lee & Lane Brody
- #1 on the Soul chart: "She's Strange" by Cameo
