"AT40: The '70s" this week presents 4/10/1976 which previously aired in 1976 you made a typo. It's actually Apr 17, 1976, and last aired in 2009 Okay. I corrected both dates.

Okay, this coming weekend we have TWO '70s shows and TWO '80s shows scheduled for this weekend which means once again, my weekend preview will be a two-parter (Seriously Premiere, I'm getting tired of doing these - this is the 10th consecutive weekend you've done this!). I'll start first with the '70s pair. The "A" show for this week is from 4/24/1971 Five songs debuted this week: "Bridge Over Troubled Water" - Aretha Franklin (#24) "Me And You And A Dog Named Boo" - Lobo (#30) "Love Her Madly" - The Doors (#37) "Here Comes The Sun" - Richie Havens (#39) "Woodstock" - Matthews' Southern Comfort (#40) Five songs fell off this week: "Heavy Makes You Happy" - The Staple Singers (#27) "Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream)" - Glen Campbell (#31) "You're All I Need To Get By" - Aretha Franklin (#34) "Soul Power" - James Brown (#35) "Where Did They Go Lord" - Elvis Presley (#40) Biggest Mover: "Power To The People" - John Lennon (#28 to #15) Biggest Dropper: "What Is Life" - George Harrison (#18 to #33) Original extras: "Runaway" - Del Shannon "Guess Things Happen That Way" - Johnny Cash "Banana Boat Song (Day-O)" - Harry Belafonte "Buried Alive In The Blues" - The Full Tilt Boogie Band (a.k.a. Janis Joplin) "Runaway" and "Day-O" will remain in the broadcast while the Johnny Cash and Janis Joplin songs will be played as optional extras. Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Guess Things Happen That Way" - Johnny Cash (original AT40 extra) Hour #2: "That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be" - Carly Simon (#95) Hour #3: "Buried Alive In The Blues" - The Full Tilt Boogie Band (original album cut) The "B" show for this weekend is from 4/23/1977 which aired back in 2011. Here was my repost from back then: Six songs made their debuts this week: "Lucille" - Kenny Rogers (#28) "Feels Like The First Time" - Foreigner (#29) "Got To Give It Up (Part 1)" - Marvin Gaye (#36) "Whodunit" - Tavares (#37) "Old Fashioned Boy (You're The One)" - Stallion (#39) "Ain't Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman)" - Joe Tex (#40) Six songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Free/Cause You Love Me Baby" - Deniece Williams (#25) "Fly Like An Eagle" - Steve Miller Band (#26) "At Midnight (My Love Will Lift You Up)" - Rufus & Chaka Khan (#30) "Say You'll Stay Until Tomorrow" - Tom Jones (#32) "Sam" - Olivia Newton-John (#35) "Spring Rain" - Silvetti (#40) Biggest Mover: "Sir Duke" - Stevie Wonder (#31 to #19) Biggest Dropper: "I Like Dreamin'" - Kenny Nolan (#23 to #38) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" - Andy Gibb (#88; debuted) "Mainstreet" - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band (#79; debuted) "Margaritaville" - Jimmy Buffett (#49) I'll have the '80s preview up soon.

NOTES: - This week's Station of the Week: WWIS.
- Crazy - and tragic :( - coincidence that Premiere's recent shows have shown some of Prince's finest moments right at the time that he's died - last week saw a B show of 4-19-86, with him being only the second ever to write both of a week's Top 2, and of course this week sees "Sign O' the Times" at its peak. Speaking of the song, it played with an extended ending this week.
- "Brass Monkey", as it turns out, was peaking this week.
- The first LDD was in response to the "I Will Survive" LDD from 12-13-86.
- This week was the original week where Casey told the story of how Glenn Medeiros and "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" were put on the path to wider exposure - he'd re-tell the story on 6-27.
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Sign O' the Times"
- #1 on the Country chart: "Rose in Paradise" by Waylon Jennings
- #1 on the Album chart: The Joshua Tree by U2

All right, as we all know by now, once again there are TWO '70s shows and TWO '80s shows scheduled for this weekend which means once again, my weekend preview will be a two-parter (and hopefully, that's all the shows planned for this weekend barring any sudden surprises). BTW this is the 11th consecutive weekend Premiere has offered at least two of one of the decades. I wish I could go on vacation right now. The "A" show this weekend is from 4/29/1972. Four songs debuted this week: "Little Bitty Pretty One" - Jackson 5 (#32) "You Could Have Been A Lady" - April Wine (#36) "Nice To Be With You" - Gallery (#37) "Mister Can't You See" - Buffy Sainte-Marie (#40) Four songs fell off this week: "Jungle Fever" - The Chakachas (#22) "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" - Robert John (#24) "Rock And Roll Lullaby" - B.J. Thomas (#32) "Do Your Thing" - Isaac Hayes (#39) Biggest Mover: "Hot Rod Lincoln" - Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen (#31 to #20) Biggest Dropper: "Roundabout" - Yes (#13 to #25) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Changes" - David Bowie (#72) - Note: Just think. Until last week, his death was the biggest in the music world this year Hour #2: "Tumbling Dice" - The Rolling Stones (#50; highest debut) Hour #3: "Old Man" - Neil Young (#77; debuted) The "B" show for this week is from 4/29/1978 which previously aired in 2013. Here was my repost from then: Three songs debuted this week: "Ego" - Elton John (#37) "Let's All Chant" - Michael Zager Band (#38) "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad" - Meat Loaf (#40) Three songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "I'm Gonna Take Care Of Everything" - Rubicon (#28) "Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)" - Styx (#29) "Rocket Ride" - KISS (#39) Biggest Mover: "On Broadway" - George Benson (#37 to #25) Biggest Dropper: "We'll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again" - England Dan & John Ford Coley (#9 to #24) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Take A Chance On Me" - Abba (#50) Hour #2: "Baker Street" - Gerry Rafferty (#67) Hour #3: "Every Kinda People" - Robert Palmer (#42) I'll have the '80s preview up soon.

The River is incorrect. There are 4 optionals by Prince, plus the number one song and the recap at the top of the show for a total of six.

Okay, we have just one '80s show scheduled for this weekend but we also have two '70s shows which means yet again my weekend preview will be a two-parter (and this is now the 12th consecutive weekend Premiere has offered two of either '70s or '80s shows). This week, since there's a singleton '80s show, I'll start with that first.
"AT40: The '80s" this week presents 5/5/1984.
Four songs debuted this week: "Self Control" - Laura Branigan (#33) "You Can't Get What You Want" - Joe Jackson (#37) "Run Runaway" - Slade (#39) "Catch Me I'm Falling" - Real Life (#40)
Four songs fell off this week: "Jump" - Van Halen (#23) "Eat It" - Weird Al Yankovic (#32) "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" - Cyndi Lauper (#33) "Holding Out For A Hero" - Bonnie Tyler (#34)
Biggest Mover: "Time After Time" - Cyndi Lauper (#27 to #14) Biggest Dropper: "Here Comes The Rain Again" - The Eurythmics (#18 to #38)
Original extras: None
Long Distance Dedications: "Don't Cry" - Asia "This One's For You" - Barry Manilow
Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Stay The Night" - Chicago (#49; highest debut) Hour #2: "I Can Dream About You" - Dan Hartman (#84; debuted) Hour #3: "Eyes Without A Face" - Billy Idol (#63; debuted) Hour #4: "Who's That Girl" - Eurythmics (#61; debuted)
I'll have the '70s preview up soon.

This weekend we are back to one '70s show after three weeks but we have two '80s shows so again my weekend preview will be a two-parter (an unprecedented 13th straight weekend with two shows from one decade; enough already, Premiere!). Anyway, we start with the '70s first. "AT40: The '70s" this week is from 5/18/1974 which aired back in 2011. Here was my repost from then. Two songs debuted this week: "Be Thankful For What You've Got" - William DeVaughn (#30) "Hollywood Swinging" - Kool & The Gang (#32) Two songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Sunshine On My Shoulders" - John Denver (#27) "Mockingbird" - Carly Simon & James Taylor (#37) Biggest Mover: "Sundown" - Gordon Lightfoot (#36 to #20) Biggest Dropper: "Lookin' For A Love" - Bobby Womack (#24 to #39) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: "Come Monday" - Jimmy Buffett (#96; debuted) "Save The Last Dance For Me" - DeFranco Family (#48) "Already Gone" - The Eagles (#75) '80s preview is coming soon.

- A month ago, 1988 saw its remaining unaired shows exhausted. Now, this week, as previously predicted, 1983 wraps up.
- "Girls on Film" was originally released here in 1981, but flopped, and though as stated it wouldn't ever reach the Hot 100, it did see video play at this time due to its parent album seeing a re-release around this time. Expanded background (not on the song, but in general) was also told as a story for "Rio".
- Note on the first LDD: Loyola University in Maryland was Loyola College until 2009 - so the name given isn't necessarily a mistake.
- Casey's story for "Come on Eileen" talks about Johnnie Ray, who's mentioned in the song's opening lines. This would be revisited on 3-7-87 by Charlie Van Dyke for another Johnnie Ray-mentioned song, Billy Idol's "Don't Need a Gun".
- #1 on the Country chart: "Common Man" by John Conlee
- #1 on the Album chart: Thriller
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Beat It"

Okay, we have a bunch of shows going on this holiday weekend. We have Bonus shows for both the '70s and '80s and two regular '80s shows so I'm back to doing a two-part preview (which given the streak we just had could last just as long?!?) Starting with the '70s first. The regular show will be from 5/29/1976 Four songs debuted this week: "Moonlight Feels Right" - Starbuck (#34) "Kiss And Say Goodbye" - The Manhattans (#36) "Crazy On You" - Heart (#37) "Still Crazy After All These Years" - Paul Simon (#40) Four songs fell off this week: "Happy Music" - The Blackbyrds (#19) "Let Your Love Flow" - The Bellamy Brothers (#23) "I've Got A Feeling (We'll Be Seeing Each Other Again)" - Al Wilson (#29) "Come On Over" - Olivia Newton-John (#36) Biggest Mover (tie): "I'll Be Good To You" - Brothers Johnson (#30 to #38) "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again" - Eric Carmen (#32 to #40) Biggest Dropper: "Boogie Fever" - The Sylvers (#4 to #13) Original extras: "Tossin' And Turnin'" - Bobby Lewis "The Twist" - Chubby Checker Both songs will be included in this week's broadcast. Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Young Hearts Run Free" - Candi Staton (#73; debuted) Hour #2: "The Boys Are Back In Town" - Thin Lizzy (#50) Hour #3: "Get Closer" - Seals & Crofts featuring Carolyn Willis (#41) The Memorial Day Special is the Top 10 Producers Of The '70s from 1974.
