Hey guys, I'm sorry to come out of nowhere, but I've been thinking about Mallary Hope and I don't know if she's still under a contract. I would say no, of course, but she's been posting a lot about recording her album and everything, even before the news of her pregnancy, and now I'm wondering if she's recording it independently or if she's with a minor label. Does anyone know? And I'm sorry if this has been discussed before too! This is the perfect thread for this! :) I haven't heard anything about Mallary being with a label though, so my guess is that she would be looking to release it independently. I know she's had cuts recorded by other artists too.

This was in both Country Aircheck and Billboard tonight. Sorry I couldn't get it larger on my PC (perhaps if jhomes87 wants to help me with that..) Terry and Kim Pegula bought the Buffalo Bills last week and they already own the Sabres. They also are the owners of Black River Entertainment which houses Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler, John King, Kelsea Ballerini, and Glen Templeton. At the bottom is all the teams and enterprises they own as well, as they welcomed the Buffalo Bills to the Black River family. Very cool indeed.

Sorry I couldn't get it larger on my PC (perhaps if jhomes87 wants to help me with that..) Fixed it for ya! :) It's definitely a cool ad. I really think that Black River has the potential to be one of the break-out indie labels. Radio is surely becoming aware that Terry Pegula wants to be a serious player in the country music industry, and if he can purchase an NFL team, he obviously has a lot of money. I don't necessarily think anyone on Black River's current roster has superstar potential, but with the right artist, they could really strike gold.

The thing about the add that's awesome is that is has literally has nothing to do with country music other than the name of the label. Pegula thought of just plunking down some of his own money to welcome his new NFL franchise to the Pegula family. I'm tickled about it but I know 99% of people who saw that aren't Bills fans and are maybe wondering why that was in a country music chart update, lol. Black River has the money and resources but do not have the name recognition yet. I'm hopeful they continue to push their artisst cause I feel that the people who work with that label are great people including the Pegulas and Gordon Kerr. Hopefully we can hear some new music from both Kellie and Craig very shortly and they can break out, a la Broken Bow.

Tim Hortons and Marriot must be partners or they own small %s of. I know most of his money was made in the Natural Gas industry. You'd think that having a billionaire owner like that that the label would get support from radio. Hopefully the billion dollar price tag will help Radio finally realize Black River is like Broken Bow and here to stay.

As sabre14, straitfan87, and zack97 know, Terry Pegula has space leased on the 31st floor of One Seneca Tower (Buffalo's tallest building). There was talk about him owning THAT building. That is his Buffalo headquarters here. Imagine the country stars coming to Buffalo to meet their boss. As far as Tim Horton's and the Marriot are concerned, rsmatto, those are companies that have committed themselves to Harbor Center, a building Pegula has a hand in.

Like onebuffalo said, Tim Hortons and Marriot are going to be part of Pegula's new HarborCenter building (the Tim Hortons I believe will be the biggest in the U.S if not North America). "716" will be an upscale eatery and "The Academy of Hockey" is a developmental school for players of all ages. I do think it will be only a matter of time before Black River gets their first top 10 single. They've come pretty close twice with Craig already.

I certainly hope that Black River can make Kellie Pickler happen as they work to become a relevant label. They've done pretty well with Craig Morgan with a couple singles now, but he's past his radio prime and I don't see them accomplishing much more with him than they already have.

BBR Music Group has signed Brooke Eden to their roster. While it was not specified which imprint, Brooke will flourish wherever she lands, given the proper opportunity. Awesome! I love American Dreamin!

BBR has signed 20 year old Jordan Rager to a record deal. Jordan is currently working on his debut album with producer Jeremy Stover and is scheduled to be an opening act for Justin Moore's Off The Beaten Path tour starting on October 23rd. Music Row

With the recent additions of Brooke Eden and Jordan Rager; where does that leave James Wesley and Kristy Lee Cook; who have not produced much in a long time. Well both are still on BBR's website. I know that the label loves James and always have (5 singles over 4 years with no "officially released" album and is still on the roster speaks volumes now and days). My guess is that he'll be releasing a new single in 2015 but the fact he's been quiet since mid 2013 is troubling. Kristy I have no clue on but she did not get good support for either of her two singles for the label thus far.

I can't put much stock in websites anymore because they tend to get out of date and don't update that often, which is one of my pet peeves. One example is BMLG, they have so many more artists on their roster than are shown. I really hope they are both still with BBR because they are very good singers. I hope they get the chance to shine. Yes, but if an artist is no longer with the label they take them down fairly quickly (at least that's been my experience in regards to artists I care about). If an artist is newly signed which you gave the BMLG example, the artist might take some time to placed up there. Could things change? Yes it can, and James and Kristy could be labelless before long but right now they are still members of BBR. These two new signings could change their priorities though, no doubt. I know that Jordan will be releasing a new single shortly. I'm with you in enjoying both James and Kristy and hope that there will still be a future with them on country radio. James just might be one of those artists that never takes off for whatever reason, which is a shame since I thought his first three singles for the label were great and in the case of "Jackson Hole", outstanding.

Agreed. I might have missed something, please feel free to call it out if I did, but it did not say which label Broken Bow assigned them too. It could be they are both going to be on Red Bow which was short a couple artists by BBR standards (both Broken Bow and Stoney Creek have consistently run on having 4-5 artists the past few years.)

Both could be but I seem to remember both Joe Nichols and Chase Bryant being specifically mentioned that they'd be with Red Bow from the times they joined the label group. Both Jordan and Brooke were mentioned as new artists for BBR Group which could still leave the possibility of Red Bow or Stoney Creek. Red Bow currently has three (Joe, Chase, David Fanning), Stoney Creek has four (Parmalee, Randy Houser, Thompson Square, Lindsay Ell) and Broken Bow has five (Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch, Jackie Lee, James Wesley, and Kristy Lee Cook).

For what it's worth, Wikipedia (which anybody can edit) has Jordan Rager listed under Broken Bow and Brooke Eden listed under Red Bow. Please note that this is not verified yet.
Also, UMG has completely updated/renovated it's website! I am so happy!! First post is up-to-date, too. :)

Now if only BMLG can follow suit, I would be that much happier. According to the first thread Jordan is with Broken Bow and Brooke is with Red Bow. Up until recently BMLG had been really good at editing their website quickly so I'm sure they'll update it soon. And yeah, I edited the first post to put Jordan Rager under Broken Bow and Brooke Eden under Red Bow. That's not confirmed though--that's just where Wikipedia had them (anybody can edit Wikipedia, though). When we find out confirmation I'll fix the first post if need be.

Logan Mize has been officially signed to Arista Nashville's roster. SourceAnd if that wasn't good enough, Logan's song "Can't Get Away From A Good Time" will be reshipped to radio on November 17th with an official impact date of January 19th, 2015.

Someone mentioned above that Brooke Eden has signed with Broken Bow. Any word on a single drop date for her? I've been loving "American Dreamin'" and SXM the Highway is playing the crap out of it. Love her voice and her look, too. The bio on her website is interesting! Sounds like she has been working hard for a long time! Sony's doing the same thing with Logan Mize. Add date is early 2015.

"American Dreamin'" is a nice song and she has a great voice. I kinda got a Carrie Underwood-meets-Leah Turner vibe from her vocals on that song. The one thing I wasn't crazy about was the production, which was a little at odds with the song for me, but it was definitely modern which should probably help her out with today's country radio. Looking forward to seeing how she does, as I am always excited for more new female artists entering the market!

Brandy Clark has been signed by Warner Bros!!! It's with Warner Bros. Los Angeles and Not Nashville. But that was where Ashley Monroe signed at first too so I suspect LA will do the A&R (let brandy record songs she wants to record) and Nashville marketing will do the promo stuff.

It cuts right through. I'm excited for this single in 2015! I listen to SXM The Highway, so I hope I'm not sick of it by then. Bad thing about that station is that I'm worn out on songs before they hit radio.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how much airplay Brandy can get here. It's too bad it couldn't be with Warner Nashville, but its still Warner Bros. Records so I'll definitely take it. Good for Brandy on landing with a major label and I hope to hear from her in the future) hopefully on terrestrial radio as well.

That's awesome news for Brandy and her fans, but I have my doubts that mainstream "country" radio will play her music anytime soon. The good news is that her partnership with a major label will only give her and her future albums more recognition, but as we've seen with Ashley Monroe, that doesn't mean radio will play the music. Warner Music Nashville released Ashley Monroe's album last year but they never really tried to push a single to radio because they knew radio wouldn't play it.
I love all of the opportunities Brandy has had, though. Here is someone who has never charted (as a recording artist) on any of the country airplay charts, and yet she opened for Jennifer Nettles earlier this year, and is now opening for Eric Church. I am a huge fan of Eric and I'm so glad that he picked 'unconventional' artists like Dwight Yoakam and Brandy Clark to be his tour openers. And next year Brandy (along with Jon Pardi) will open for Alan Jackson. Alan said he picked them because he feels like they're among the newer artists who are "doing country right" (or something to that extent).
