From Country Aircheck ( here): Sidewalk merged into Curb - No one is commenting officially, but the Curb and Sidewalk promotion staffs and rosters have been combined under the direction of Curb VP/Promotion Ryan Dokke. Sidewalk VP/Promotion Lori Hartigan remains with the company in an unspecified role after being promoted last year (CAT 1/27/14). Sidewalk promo staffers JR Hughes, Bethany Priest and Nanette Ballinger have all recently left the label. Remaining Sidewalk regionals Roger Fregoso and Heather Cramsie are expected to remain with Curb. On the Curb staff, the position vacated by Stephanie O'Donnell (CAT 1/5) has remained vacant and no further changes are expected. Sidewalk artists Ruthie Collins and Dylan Scott remain with Curb. Makes sense. Curb has enough trouble getting its own acts success on the charts and having another imprint was completely unnecessary.

Trace Adkins has signed a record deal with Broken Bow Music Group. Multi-talented recording artist, actor, author, and spokesperson Trace Adkins has signed a new recording contract with BBR Music Group. Adkins is currently working on his 13th studio album with producer Mickey Jack Cones, who has produced Joe Nichols and Randy Houser. “Trace Adkins has built a career and a legacy doing things his own way, never bowing to trends or society. He’s a straight shooter whose philosophy aligns with BBR Music Group’s independent, hands on approach. The music is what matters at BBR Music Group and that’s a viewpoint we share with Trace. We’re excited to welcome Trace to the BBR Music Group family and look forward to collaborating on new, amazing music,” said Benny Brown, President/ CEO of the BBR Music Group. Adkins is managed by Vector Management, booked by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and represented by publicity agency Sunshine Sachs. He is an ASCAP-affiliated songwriter. Adkins entered the music scene with the 1996 release of Dreamin’ Out Loud on Capitol Nashville, his label home for more than a decade. He went on to become one of country music’s most distinctive vocalists, selling more than 10 million albums, and notching hits including “Every Light in the House Is On,” “Songs About Me,” “Honkytonk Badonkadonk,” “Ladies Love Country Boys,” and more. He later recorded albums for Show Dog-Universal and released a Christmas project, The King’s Gift, on the Caliburn label in 2013. Adkins parlayed his music success into television and movies, as a runner-up on the 2008 season of Donald Trump’s The Celebrity Apprentice, and later won The All-Star Celebrity Apprentice. Adkins has appeared in The Lincoln Lawyer alongside Matthew McConaughey, Wyatt Earp’s Revenge, Mom’s Night Out, and more. He served as a spokesperson for The American Red Cross and Wounded Warriors. Adkins also penned an autobiography entitled A Personal Stand: Observations and Opinions from a Free-Thinking Roughneck, which was released in late 2007. “When you’ve been doing this as long as I have, you don’t always get the feeling that the sky’s the limit,” said Adkins. “I feel that way right now. When I sign up for something, I go all-in. Since Benny, Jon and I shook hands and said ‘let’s do this thing,’ we’ve been all-in together.” “Trace Adkins is not only a Country music megastar but an accomplished film and TV actor who has become a highly-recognizable celebrity. In this incredibly fractured entertainment environment, it’s an extraordinary accomplishment to have achieved touch points across multiple forms of media. The BBR Music Group is ecstatic to add an artist of international acclaim to its roster,” said BBR Music Group EVP Jon Loba. Music Row

Really BBR? I don't think Trace really has any hits left in him. He may score another random hit or two like he did with "Just Fishin'", but I'm not sure if the investment in him would be worth that little reward.

"Just Fishin'" was his last hit all the way back in 2011, and his last really big hit was "You're Gonna Miss This" which hit #1 in 2008. Maybe BBR can get him a few more moderate hits, but I don't really see him excelling past the level Craig Morgan is at right now.

I think this just might be a luxury signing by Broken Bow here. I don't exactly know how their financial commitment and landscape looks like, but they must feel they're at a good place right now as a label to add Trace, just because I also think he's past his prime. Even Trace said himself back in 2013 that his days of scoring hits at radio were over (during the release of "Watch The World End") and his new gig with Sirius/XM this year led me to believe that he had accepted that fact - so this singing kinda came out of nowhere to me. It is worth pointing out that his last label was Show Dog, and we all know how fast they've fallen in the eyes of radio the past 2-3 years.
I do think they can achieve a few more top 40 singles (perhaps a solid top 20 hit or two), but that's about it. This is a very good label though to squeeze every last bit of commercial success left in Trace, and hey if he wants to keep making music then all the power to him and his fans, and there was a taker in Broken Bow for that new music.

I just figured that BBR would better themselves by spending their time trying to get their next Aldean rather than investing in Trace who has no chance of getting to that level of success.

They might think they already have their next Aldean on their roster with either Chase Bryant or Jordan Rager. Not saying those two will even come close to Aldean level success, but you never know. Personally, I probably wouldn't have signed Trace at this point, but I'm not in the room with Broken Bow execs, and the fan in me is glad they did, lol. It will be interesting to see just how his singles shake out at radio.

Trace is a favorite of the owner. Even if he doesn't have Platinum singles, Gold Albums or Top 10 hits with them, he's the kind of 'legacy' artist they should want to have one or two of. It's good for a label like that to have some vets, particularly one as well-liked as Trace (who was deemed worthy enough to release a live DVD in February).

As was expected, Steven Tyler has officially signed with BMLG. The rock icon will be under the Dot Records imprint. As previously reported, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has been collaborating with Big Machine Label Group on an upcoming project. Today, the label group officially announced Tyler as one of its newest artists. Tyler has inked a deal with BMLG’s Dot Records, and is working on his forthcoming country album. “There was an immediate connection with Scott and Big Machine, and Nashville seems like the perfect segue for a solo project…and Dot Records is the right fit. My earliest influences put me somewhere between the Everly Brothers and the Carter Family and this project is all about me paying homage to my Country roots. I’ve been working with some f**king epic Nashville songwriters, getting my feet wet with their style and groove,” Tyler said. “I have never met a more passionate human being than Steven. When he goes in, he goes all in, which is the culture of Dot Records and the Big Machine Label Group,” said BMLG President and CEO Scott Borchetta. “I truly cannot wait for the world to hear the phenomenal music that he is creating and I really feel that this chapter of his career will be among his best. He bleeds love and he bleeds music. Pinch me—it’s Steven Fkg Tyler!” Tyler and Aerosmith have sold more than 150 million records worldwide, garnering nine No. 1 songs, as well as 25 Gold, 18 Platinum, and 12 Multi-Platinum album certifications. Tyler and Joe Perry were inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2013. Music Row

I'm glad Trace was picked up by BBR, because he has a good voice, so long as he puts it to appropriate use on the right songs. That said, I think he's done getting hits at radio. They *may* be able to get a single or two into the Top 20 on a slow climb like what Craig Morgan has been able to do in the past few years at Black River, but his signing definitely strikes me as the kind that will just allow him to make and release music without any real commercial obligations.

So happy Trace Adkins signed with Broken Bow Records! This made my day. Also Steven Tyler signed a record deal with Big Machine, which is another highlight. He will be perfect on Dot Records. Can't wait for Trace and Steven's new music!

I was very surprised to see that BBR signed Trace. In a way I guess it makes sense since he is a veteran artist with a lot of name recognition, but if the label thinks he's going to suddenly get hot and score a string of radio hits, then I think they're going to be very disappointed. At best I can see Trace maybe scoring 1-2 more top 20 hits in his career.

See I tend to disagree. I think Broken Bow will be able to help him out a lot. I think they can get his albums promoted very well and help him get some more hit singles. Probably more than 2.

Trace is certainly past his prime, but there's no reason he can't have similar late career arc to Clay Walker (who scored a few top 10 hits even though he was on Curb).

I hope Trace Adkins' stay at Broken Bow is more prosperous than his stint at Show Dog/Universal. Steven Tyler has country roots? Maybe Carrie Underwood exposed them!

I thought this interview Trace did with Billboard was great, particularly this portion: Billboard: How is your new deal constructed? You're the only artist I've ever seen stick a pin in his own single while it was ascending the charts as you did with "Brown Chicken Brown Cow", in 2011. Billboard

And the first singed artist it Anderson East who's been opening for Sturgill Simpson! He's got a really amazing voice, I'm hopeful they'll push him hard!

Chris Janson has officially been signed by Warner Bros Nashville today, so here's to hoping he gets an honest push. He's the next "On The Verge" artist with "Buy Me A Boat". ;)

And I got it from the UMG website :) www.umgnashville.com/our-artists/label/mca-nashville/Before she was just listed on the main UMG page, and when you sorted it by label, she wasn't listed under any of the four. But now her picture has been added to the MCA page. :) I figured they'd put her with MCA as well, mostly because MCA was the only UMG imprint that didn't have a female artist on their roster.

Also, Clare posted on her Facebook page yesterday that her radio tour is about to begin, so I'm guessing a single will probably be out late summer.
