Does anyone know if Mallary Hope is on a label as of right now? I know she's been taking time for her baby but she had so much momentum going with her baby.

I'm really surprised Mallary Hope just got two singles and then that was it. She had a lot of potential (very strong voice that recalled Martina McBride, imo) and it's unfortunate she didn't get more chances or couldn't get picked up by another label somewhere.

Is Sugarland basically over, or just a very long break? I suppose though any group that is over or inactive, could always wait for the "reunion tour" marketing angle

Part of the struggle was that her last record label kept turning down her demos and saying they weren't good enough.

Granger Smith/Earl Dibbles, Jr. signed with BBR Music Group. Also, from the PR: Jordan Rager is on Broken Bow. Brooke Eden is on Red Bow. Trace is still unassigned as is Granger.
Edited to Add: Michael Ray is the 3rd Atlantic Nashville label artist. His CD and PR reflect this now.

I suppose that should not be shocking with Sara after the limited success of her last couple of singles. Still, I am a little shocked lol. Hopefully she has a new deal cooking for another album project. I've been able to see her at a couple of events in my area the past few years, just so good. Can't be surprised about the Henningsen's.

WHAT?!? So sad about Sara. Thinking she must of had a better deal, cause she recently had resigned with RCA.

Sony had a change in leadership, so that's why this isn't a surprise. Randy Goodman told Billboard that this summer he would have a talk to every one of his artist and do an evaluation of his roster. The recent lack of success from Sara and the Henningsens made this a relatively easy decision to part ways. It's extremely unfortunate since Sara signed a new deal in 2013 but that's cruel fact of business.
I wish Sara all the best of luck and I'm certain she'll hook on somewhere else, albeit a smaller label in all likelihood

I never even thought about the regime change leading to something like that. That's unfortunate news to see for sure because I know Sara Evans had an absolutely wonderful long-standing relationship with RCA, and I'm positive that if power had not changed hands, she wouldn't have been going anywhere. I do hope she can find a new label home in the near future and get back to making new music again soon. Even though she had a nice relationship with her label, they'd been dropping the ball with the handling of her single releases in the last couple years starting with the botched release of "Anywhere" from Stronger and then the big mess that followed the peak of "Slow Me Down," so I'm optimistic that she'll possibly be better off (ha I just made an unintentional pun) somewhere else anyway.

I have no doubt that Sara will end up on another label soon. If all else fails, I am sure Sara would be more than welcome at Nash Icon!! I mean, I hope to see her join a label that could potentially revive her radio career, but then again if she becomes label-mates with Martina again maybe they will finally get to record a killer duet ;)

Time to release a two CD Essential Sara Evans from RCA Records. Almost two decades with them and they cut her loose. Hopefully, Evans will land somewhere else.

Yeah is that forreal because omg yesssssssssssssssss I could literally cry happiness tears on my signed copy of Slow Me Down. :'( Her and Martina would be on the same label once again if that happened, too, so maybe we can get that duet bboat11.

I don't think Matt knows anything for sure -- just speculating on Sara because it would be a logical place for her to land.

Laura Bell Bundy is no longer with Big Machine. Well at least they put out her album at last. I had a feeling its release might've been a sign of an impending departure, but I'm glad that the album is out there at least because I enjoy it a lot.

While I am sad Laura Bell Bundy is dropped it did make sense. I am glad though she got her music out.
I do wish The Heningsens would've got a 3rd shot kinda like a 3 strikes you're out type of thing.
Finally Sara Evans. I truly think this was a case of anything that could go wrong did particularly after Slow Me Down. I also think RCA got their hands full of artists and I think that's what ultimatley led to Sara and Henningsens being dropped.

Sara probably asked out of her contract. I know she had just re-signed with RCA, but things like this often happen when there's a change in leadership. After all, Goodman didn't sign any of the acts to Sony. It was inevitable that some artists would leave, including new artists as well as veteran acts. Sara is a proven hit-maker, but she's well past the peak point of her career (in terms of radio success), and Goodman may have kinda hinted that to her, basically saying "hey, we know you've had some big hits, but the momentum just isn't there lately and if I'm being honest with you, I'm not sure we can get it back"...or something like that. I imagine him saying "Look, we'll do our best, but we think radio has more or less moved on from you." That's not to say that Sara can't score any more hits (top 20 or better) before her radio career is completely done, but radio has changed drastically in the last few years alone, and Sara has only had two top 20 hits since 2007. That's a long time. So yeah, I doubt that Randy Goodman and Steve Hodges and Ken Robold went to her and said "you're done" -- they wouldn't do that. Sara has been around a long time and she's earned a lot of respect, even if she likely wasn't a part of Goodman's plan/vision going forward (this is all speculation on my part, of course). I'm sure they all had a pretty in-depth conversation, perhaps after which Sara may have decided that a change of scenery would be best for her. Anyway, I actually don't see Sara signing with Nash Icons. I'm not saying it'd be a surprise if she did land there, but I think it's more likely that she'll go somewhere else and still try for a handful of top 20 hits yet before she's "too old" for radio

I can see Sara ending up on a label like Sugar Hill or somewhere similar.

I think Sara could do really well at Black River as well. I think of her as a bigger name than Craig Morgan, and he has had quite a bit of success with them despite the fact that they obtained him way after his radio peak days. And they have demonstrated lately with Kelsea that they have both the ability and tenacity to get female artists played. Of course, Kellie Pickler probably has a different opinion about that... But still, Sara is already a big name, and they would just need to rejuvenate her career rather than completely build it. That being said, they already have a pretty full roster for a single label, so they probably aren't looking for anyone else to sign at the moment...
I know this thread isn't the place to speculate about which labels might pick up an artist, but I just wanted to put in my two cents while the topic was broached :) I would definitely not be disappointed if Sara ended up on Nash Icon, but at the same time I would be thrilled if she lands somewhere that could potentially get her a few more top 20 hits!

Actually, I don't think Black River wants to many more 'grizzled veterans' at this point. They have Craig for that and are in need of newer acts or acts like Love and Theft, Casey James and Kellie , still young and ready to have more hits, if the right songs come along. Note, Love and Theft and Casey James are just names of artists who COULD work at Black River.

I don't know of any specific names but I do know that Black River's top priority is signing new acts, like Kelsea Ballerini and John King. I could also see them going for artists like JT Hodges, Joel Crouse, Rachel Farley and The Farm. I agree and and am confident that Black River is not really looking for veteran acts like Sara. Craig made sense at the time since they needed his name recognition to get some momentum built up with radio. They love Kellie and her music and did not want to pass up the opportunity to sign her when she left her major label.
