I'm not familiar with Thirty Tigers either, but I should be. Its roster includes Elizabeth Cook and Jason Isbell, two of my favorite Americana artists. Jason's "Alabama Pines" is the Americana song of the year.

Republic Nashville ad in today's mid-week BCU confirms that Martina is no longer with them, or at the very least, she's an "archived/inactive" artist. It may be that she has the deal in place with sort of an "option" for them to pick up her new album and release it (ie, they have first dibs, but if they pass she's free to sign with another label). The BCU ad is a celebratory 4-year birthday ad for the label. The acts listed are The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Florida Georgia Line, Greg Bates, and Cassadee Pope. There is a 6th act as well, a younger girl named Savannah Keyes, but since the ad acknowledges singles and albums sold, and she hasn't been launched yet, her exclusion from the list of artists there makes sense.
Anyway, normally the BMLG website updates frequently and is pretty accurate but lately I'm not sure what to make of it. They still have Edens Edge and Sunny Sweeney on there...Sunny of course signed elsewhere but she's been off the label officially for almost a year now. Cassadee hasn't been added yet but Martina is still on there. And what's really surprising is that Steel Magnolia is suddenly listed under Big Machine again. That is definitely a new development...they were removed a long time ago and I checked the site maybe 2-3 weeks ago and they weren't there, but now today it lists Steel Magnolia again. Wonder if that's a goof, or if it means something?

I rumor a couple weeks ago that they were returning to BMLG. Apparently Borchetta and the execs loved there new stuff and in a very empty duo market right now see an opening to pounce

I believe if I understand correctly, Jennifer Nettles is under UMG now as a solo artist. UMG posted on their facebook page about her album - the article with Rolling Stone.

^Yes, I figured that was the case with her and still wanted to put it in here in case. Curiosity has me though. Some of her pictures on facebook before she edited them were labeled "Sugar Cookie." Also a picture in People/People.com have that label too. I couldn't figure out if that was something to do with the photos/photographer or something with Jennifer herself - like a company name or something she is using for her own self.

Danny Gokey tweeted that he's now signed with BMG. Yuck. I was hoping we'd seen the last of him. No thanks.

Danny Gokey tweeted that he's now signed with BMG. The tweet says "record deal and publishing deal", but I'm not sure what he means by BMG Records. The only 'BMG' that I'm familiar with is this BMG, aka Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Often times you will see an artist sign a songwriting deal with Sony BMG, but Gokey already had a run at Sony Nashville, so I don't see why they'd re-sign him. I highly doubt that's what this tweet means. More than likely, it means Gokey has some sort of a record deal but that he's leaving the country scene.

Maybe it was short for Big Machine Group? Not sure, but we'll see where it leads to. I doubt it. "BMG" has always been associated with Sony BMG (and not specifically the Nashville division of Sony). If it were Big Machine, I'd guess that Gokey would either say "Big Machine" or Big Machine Label Group. BMG isn't a proper term for Big Machine.

From what I've heard around web sites and such, the BMG does refer to BMG music (not Big Machine) and either refers to one of the labels under Sony-BMG (probably not a country one I bet) or perhaps the 'Masters' deal BMG has where they front the $$ for recording and distribution, but the artist has creative control and gets a bigger cut of profits.
I would imagine he would not sign with another Country label, but would sign with a label that gave more creative control, and hope for crossover play in different formats or album buyers given his history and sound of his music. He seems to be an eclectic singer-Country, R&B,AC and Christian-which is great if you like variety but certainly not a new artist that would fly at Country radio-it's hard enough as it is for new artists these days to get a toehold.
I follow him on Twitter and he did tweet a picture of a Producer he's working with in Nashville- Keith Thomas. I guess more info/Press release is needed to know what genre he mostly lives in.
I enjoyed his first album and especially third single Second Hand Heart quite a bit so will check his new music out, although if it is too CCMish or R&B vs Country or AC, forget it.

That's interesting with Danny Gokey. I imagine more details will be forthcoming on the business arrangements and music plans, good luck to him as it gets underway.
I'm a little surprised if Steel Magnolia is back, I thought they broke up (personally and professionally) for good

Danny Gokey probably signed a publishing deal with BMG Rights Management. They formed after dissolving the recorded music division with Sony. But BMG has been buying asset labels including bidding on labels that were part of EMI's sell-off. www.bmg.comOn a side note, Mallary Hope is still with MCA Nashville. She is listed as so under the credits of Darius Rucker's new album of which she sings on a track.

But looking it up, his management does use the term record deal: "Danny Gokey announces new record and publishing deal on the red carpet of the American Idol season finale" www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.459075600848889.1073741829.404874329602350&type=1 Presumably a press release to come that may clear it up some? The only other somewhat concrete information I can see, is Danny Gokey sharing photos of himself working in studio with producer Keith Thomas, which also hints to me of recording plans, not just publishing. It would be nice to see Mallary releasing some music, although I can't say I loved the one rock-oriented song I heard of hers recently.

Mallary Hope's first two singles were excellent. She desperately needs a second chance at a breakthrough, because her voice is fantastic.

Martina may still be with Republic Nashville! Thats weird, because a few weeks ago they mentioned her then right afterwards mentioned Republic Nashville artists but didn't include her in that bubble.

I personally don't think the Country Aircheck email from yesterday is enough to confirm whether or not Martina is with Republic. That was her last known label, so it makes sense that they'd still call her a Republic Nashville recording artist, since there hasn't been any announcement (formal or otherwise) from anyone regarding Martina's status with the label.
It just remains unclear for now but like the Sarah Darling situation, it will sort itself out in time.

The Big Machine website has updated. They finally took down the pictures for Martina and also those of Edens Edge and Steel Magnolia. Here is what they list:
Big Machine -- Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Ella Mae Bowen
Valory -- Reba, Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert, Thomas Rhett, The Mavericks
Republic Nashville -- The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Florida Georgia Line, Cassadee Pope, Greg Bates
Not listed are RaeLynn, The Cadillac Three, and Savannah Keyes, but I suspect that's because all 3 of them are new signings. They'll probably put up RaeLynn soon when she starts a radio tour. All the other artists above (except Ella Mae Bowen) have been 'launched' to radio.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but yesterday Sony Music Nashville tweeted about a new signee to Columbia Records, Leah Turner, singing for them yesterday.

Hey, they finally took down Sunny Sweeney from the Republic site as well! Like two years after the fact... At this rate, if Republic re-signs Martina when her new album is ready (since that's the way speculation here on the board has been going so far), we could have to wait until 2025 for her to finally be added to their website again!

I've actually found that, compared to most other labels, the Big Machine website updates quite frequently. I see changes on their artist page every couple months or so. But you're right, they left Sunny up there for quite some time, for some reason. Sony's artist page updates rather frequently as well. But most others...it takes forever. Capitol, for instance, hasn't updated its artist page in years. They still have Trace Adkins on there and he's already released 2 albums for Show Dog! Trace left Capitol way back in January 2010. The UMG site is a mess...their artist list is fairly accurate but I thought after the merger with EMI, they'd redo the Capitol website and list all 4 imprints (MCA, Mercury, Capitol, & EMI) and their artist rosters under the main UMG page. Warner Music Nashville's page used to be pretty bad but it finally updated earlier this year and everything is fairly accurate, although they still haven't added the Josh Abbott Band to the website. And WMN operates a little different too because they have the Warner Bros. and Elektra imprints and also Altantic (Hunter Hayes, Brett Eldredge, and JAB are signed to Atlantic/WMN), but they only have 2 promo teams, simply called WMN and WAR, and there can be WAR artists on both Warner Bros. proper and Elektra, and vice versa with the artists promoted by the WMN promo team, which kinda makes the imprint designations irrelevant. And then Curb...their website updates pretty frequently lately, but they have 160 artists listed under their Country tab (they have some acts from other genres too). The vast majority of the artists listed are either artists from way back when, or are pretty much no-name artists with no chance of releasing any music, but Curb hangs on to them anyway. They are really only pushing a small handful of their artists to mainstream country radio. Some of the smaller indie label websites update pretty frequently so that's nice at least.

I'm not sure it means anything but Laura Bell Bundy is doing her autograph signings at the Big Machine Label Groupe booth at the CMA Fest. Does anybody know why she's be there? Usually they just use the booth to showcase their own artists. Is it possible she signed a deal with one of the labels?

From Country Aircheck Monday night: The Laura Bell Bundy-led Dance Y’all troupe took the stage between Flatts and middle act The Band Perry. LBB is leading the Dance Y'all choreography group and I'm sure that's why she's at the Big Machine booth, since Dance Y'all is out on tour with Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and Cassadee Pope.

It's supposed to say Aristo, as in AristoMedia. You can Google it. "Sarah Darling 764 Aristo" and it comes up with all kinds of results saying 764 Records/AristoMedia. I checked the other day when I saw something on her Facebook page.
