Tate Stevens won the X Factor tonight winning a record deal from Epic/Syco entertainment :) I wonder if he'll stay on Epic or if they'll put him on a Sony Nashville label. Columbia could use a hit artist right about now, and I could see him fitting in nicely there. RCA and Arista are kinda full atm.

Skip Bishop Launches HitShop Records:Veteran label executive Skip Bishop announced the launch of HitShop Records moments ago at a press conference in Nashville. Distributed by Warner Music Nashville, HitShop is a division of Nashville-based Ramblin' Music Group and opens as a full-service label.
The label's roster includes country artist Weston Burt and funk duo Gimm+Icky. Bishop was introduced by Ronnie Dunn, who is not on the roster.
"This is one of the most innovative and creative gatherings of musical talent and staff I've ever seen," says Bishop. "The young, brilliant minds and compelling musicians involved are building a new model of discovery from the street up. Everyone at HitShop is deeply committed and involved in studying the new paths music fans walk. We look forward to a productive relationship with Warner Music Nashville."
WMN President John Esposito adds, "Skip is one of the most savvy and creative executives in Nashville. His track record for breaking hit records is what excited us to be in business with him and his team. We’re pleased to be providing this impressive new label with distribution services and to be working closely with this team." Source: Country Aircheck Today I wonder if this means that Ronnie Dunn may be looking to potentially sign with HitShop? Bishop was formerly with Sony and Ronnie has seemingly always had a good relationship with him.

Mickey Guyton is still with UMG, in the last week she's posted about working on her album with Universal, and they sent her a Christmas gift if that's any kid of confirmation lol

^Yeah, I did read that somewhere. I'll add Mickey back to the UMG/Capitol roster, I hadn't even realized that she wasn't on there anymore.

Stoney Creek and Ash Bowers have parted ways. He's no longer listed on their website, and according to the old R&R Going For Adds page, Ash has a song called "Red" going for adds on the 22nd, and the label listed is Wide Open.

Is Jon Wolfe signed to Warner Bros.? He shows up on Music Row's chart with their label info listed next to him. Anybody know for sure? Jon Wolfe has officially signed to Warner Music Nashville (the website has him listed but left out the "e" at the end of his last name...hopefully they get that fixed soon, because it does have an "e" at the end). Jon Wolfe IS working on some stuff with WB and it MAY lead to a deal. This may just be a 'test' by them. According to Wolfe's bio on the WMN website, the label is planning a 2013 deluxe edition re-release of his 2010 (indie release) album It All Happened In A Honky Tonk.

Cassadee Pope signed to Republic Nashville. I know she did some country covers on The Voice, but she was never country in the past and seems more likely to go the pop/rock route. I'm not sure how I feel, about her trying her hand at country. I was never a big fan of hers in the first place..

I personally loved her. I didn't watch The Voice this season, but after my mom showed me one of her performances, I watched all of her performances. I figured that she may decide to go the Country route after all the success that she had from her country songs on the show. As Blake said, she connects very well with the lyrics of country songs when she sings. I could see her being successful in country assuming she makes music similar to Carrie Underwood's country-pop/rock style.

Average Joe's and Josh Gracin have parted ways and D. Vincent Williams has also parted ways with Bigger Picture Group. :( I love both of them I'm sad to see them lose their deals. Especially D. Vincent Williams. Josh has had success but DVW has been plugging it out in Nashville for so long I really thought that he'd finally break out :(

D. Vincent Williams is great...I LOVED "Down By The River" but it doesn't fit with today's radio :( Still, I'm a little surprised that he's not with BPG anymore already. I think Josh Gracin is still making music and will probably look to sign somewhere else.

Hopefully Matt (rsmatto) doesn't mind me posting this (he shared it in a message with me) but Sunny Sweeney confirmed to him that she was dropped by Republic back during the summer.

She is so talented and I love her voice so much. I wish they would've at least given her a second album.

Big Machine Label Group Signs The Cadillac Three
Big Machine Label Group has signed The Cadillac Three (formerly known as The Cadillac Black) to its Big Machine Records imprint. The Cadillac Three will join fellow artists Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw and others as part of the Big Machine Records label.
The Cadillac Three includes a trio of Nashville natives–Jaren Johnston (guitar & lead vocals), Kelby Ray (bass steel guitar, dobro, acoustic and vocals) and Neil Mason (drums, percussion and vocals).
Johnston is known for penning Keith Urban’s No. 1 smash “You Gonna Fly,” two new cuts on McGraw’s latest record Two Lanes of Freedom and several other tunes for acts like Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans and Dierks Bentley.
“We’re excited to be a part of the Big Machine Label Group and to have found a team that supports the music we’ve been making and playing across the country. We think it is a match made in ‘country fuzz heaven’ for three guys born and raised in Music City,” said The Cadillac Three.
“We are thrilled that The Cadillac Three will now call Big Machine their home,” said BMLG President/CEO Scott Borchetta. “Their songs are infectious. Their live show is captivating. We expect many great things to come for these guys.”
The band appeared on an episode of ABC’s Nashville in late 2012 and their music has been featured on MTV’s Buckwild, CW’s Vampire Diaries and Heart Of Dixie and CBS’ CSI Miami.
Catch an interview with The Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston in the next issue of MusicRow magazine, which releases Tuesday (Feb. 26).

I was just coming to post about The Cadillac Three formerly The Cadillac Black. I seen them open for Eric Church and thought they were great. I don't really consider them a country act though so it will be interesting if the can gain traction on country radio. I wouldn't be too surprised though if they do.

I've seen them more than I would probably have liked (thanks Dierks), since their music isn't really my thing. However, I am happy for them because they are genuinely nice guys and have been working damn hard for this moment.

About to edit this now. Edens Edge will be removed from Big Machine's roster and I'm also removing Jewel from Valory. On the Big Machine website, both Jewel and Sunny Sweeney are also now listed as "Archived Artists" along with Edens Edge. We already had confirmation that Sunny was no longer with Republic and now we have confirmation that Valory isn't going to release any more music from Jewel either.

A couple of things were confirmed at CRS. Martina McBride DID part ways with Republic. They also don't have Jackie Lee on the roster anymore (he was signed but they never sent out a single). Also Laura Bell Bundy is no longer with UMG/Mercury.

Can anyone inform me why sometimes artists get dropped from a label without even one song released? If there is a merger of sorts between labels then it makes a little sense (like if a new artist were dropped from the UMG/EMI merger), but dropping Jackie Lee from BMLG just puzzles me. Some internal conflict maybe?

Martina could just as easily return to Republic with her next record. That deal was likely an album w/options for more.
As for Jackie Lee: No conflicts. Just a decision to mutually part ways. Happens all the time with many artists on 'development' deals around town.

Some internal conflict maybe? Sometimes artists aren't happy or labels aren't happy. Sometimes the artists aren't turning out hits like the big labels want and they don't want to waste money promoting something that won't do well.
