Y'all know I love me some Kelly but there wasn't ONE part of that performance I enjoyed. It's sad that some people had to slam Beyonce (who, in my opinion, was flawless) in order to praise Kelly, especially THAT performance. Kelly has done SO much better vocally. But that hasn't happened here (I think you're the first to even mention Beyonce's name today) and Kelly nailed that performance through and through. Leave a page open for thirty seconds before pressing send and it's irrelevant.

It's sad that some people had to slam Beyonce (who, in my opinion, was flawless) in order to praise Kelly. I actually think that's the opposite of what's happening. Both generally, and in your exact post.

This is my fav ita :'( She just slayed the entire f**king country with that. Beyonce who is correct!!! O. It's funny. I have had plenty of good things to say about Kelly on this board, especially regarding this album and My December. Those comments go unnoticed, but the moment I say anything remotely negative, the fans are on standby. Nature of the game, I guess, but...it is what it is. I will continue to enjoy Kelly and love her music but that performance was not great. I actually defended Kelly on FB, when my former vocal coach (and opera singer) wrote something like, "Kelly Clarkson...ick".

Just curious. Are Grammy voters still in the process of voting? If so, the quality of this performance, at this event, with this worldwide audience, could greatly bolster her Grammy chances...

Franklin, at least, has had plenty of excellent things to say about Beyonce...knowing him as a poster is to know that was tongue in cheek. It also isn't "slamming" Beyonce to say that Kelly did better. And I'm sure all your praise posts have got plenty of attention, as I know I've responded to them and know you're a big fan. Were you watching an internet feed? Because that's what I watched first and it was awful audio quality and it really hindered the power of the performance. It was like watching a different performance when I saw the ripped TV feed. I thought her performance was pretty objectively great, but in reality that probably doesn't exist. Especially on the internet.

I actually think a Kelly/Bey performance would be one of the biggest musical events of the decade. Imagine all that feminism and sassiness in one song. Ugh. One can only dream, but those pictures are good enough for me :)
And that performance is one of the best of Kelly's career, so y'all can just deal.

I seriously want to know what you saw, because Kelly killed that song. Sang the hell out of it like it has never been sang before (that I've ever heard anyway, please post a link if you can find it). There was no way to make that better. A career highlight. And as a HUGE Beyonce fan (I love Beyonce far more than Kelly), I can without a doubt say Kelly's performance was by far the more dynamic. Although Beyonce was fantastic. And that's not knocking Yonka, it's just Kelly sang that f**king good today.

18. Kelly Clarkson - Catch My Breath 142. Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) 287. Kelly Clarkson - Because of You 353. Kelly Clarkson - Don't Rush (feat. Vince Gill) 368. Kelly Clarkson - Dark Side 543. Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone 870. Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All 933. Jason Aldean - Don't You Wanna Stay (with Kelly Clarkson) 1213. Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway
35. Kelly Clarkson - Greatest Hits - Chapter One 381. Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (Deluxe Version) 1275. Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway I can't wait to see if that performance does anything to help her out in sales. 17. Kelly Clarkson - Catch My Breath 138. Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) 287. Kelly Clarkson - Because of You 341. Kelly Clarkson - Don't Rush (feat. Vince Gill) 350. Kelly Clarkson - Dark Side 506. Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone 825. Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All 894. Jason Aldean - Don't You Wanna Stay (with Kelly Clarkson) 1173. Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway
34. Kelly Clarkson - Greatest Hits - Chapter One 356. Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (Deluxe Version) 1157. Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway And absolutely no one in here has said Beyoncé did a bad job or is slamming her in any way. The only things mentioned about Beyoncé was that she didn't do as great of a job as Kelly did, which is personal opinion and says nothing great or bad about either artist. Both did a great, but some happen to think Kelly just did better. They both are powerhouse vocalists who just performed at the president's inauguration. They're going to be compared. To think they wouldn't be is completely absurd.

Yeah, I'd say I like Kelly and Beyonce equally, but Kelly did a better job today. Beyonce's was beautiful. But Kelly shook the rafters.

Had you merely stated that you didn't care for the performance, I for one, would have left your post alone, I couldn't care less that your opinion differs from my own/the majority. It's your accusations based off of a couple sarcastic, facetious posts involving Beyonce and Kelly that has sparked our responses.

i think both did amazing! i never thought about a Bey/Kelly duet but after seeing the pictures of them, i could actually imagine it. ya know kelly probably asked! she is determined for a pop duet! they should take that Tedder track and do i proper Halo/Already Gone mash up/duet!

The only thing I have to say is that Austin is right. They're obviously going to be compared, and since this is the Kelly thread and not the Beyoncé thread, there's bound to be more people saying Kelly did the better job in here. I don't think anybody meant it as a slam to Beyoncé.

Especially on the internet. Thanks for being understanding and for being the voice of reason. I can always count on you. For the record, I DID see it on the internet. I was mostly aggravated with the "Beyonce who" comments than anything else. I just found them unnecessary in order to praise Kelly. Well, that and the fact that I didn't care for what I heard. I also should have mentioned I thought the arrangement was a bit wonky too, so it wasn't ALL Kelly I was dissatisfied with. A lot of context, subtext, etc. gets lost on the Internet. I actually thought when I was writing that my post to tell you specifically to just ignore it or to say it didn't apply to you specifically. #oop.
