From davidbowie.com today: "David Bowie’s new album ★ (pronounced Blackstar) is now available for pre-order in various formats, including CD/Vinyl/Digital and a limited clear vinyl version. There are also special configurations including exclusive lithograph artwork. The album’s title track and first single will be released globally tomorrow, November 20, 2015 on all digital retailer and streaming platforms. The single and film will premiere worldwide today."
I can't wait to finish with work, find the perfect moment of silence with NO interruptions and listen to the first single in its entirety!!

Just wanted to mention he has a reissue campaign underway too. The Five Years (1969–1973) boxset was released in September and includes the following studio albums: David Bowie AKA Space Oddity, The Man Who Sold the World, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Aladdin Sane, Pin Ups. Also included are the Live Santa Monica '72 and Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture live albums, a 2003 remix of Ziggy Stardust by Ken Scott and a compilation of non-album singles, single versions and b-sides titled Re:Call 1.
While that's not necessarily my favourite DB era, it contains amazing music nonetheless.

I had no idea he was sick. His Greatest Hits soundtracked my semester abroad in Paris and got me through some low points in my life. A veritable, inimitable legend. RIP Starman.

What a brilliant artist and so deeply gutted to hear of his passing. I grew up on his music and my first real exposure to him was when I was about 10 years old and the song "Fashion" came out. My brothers and I used to love the cheeky video and the baseline thumping throughout the track.
Was it public knowledge that he was ill? It seemed to come out of left field when his death was announced today.

It seemed to come out of left field when his death was announced today. It was kept secret. I'm glad that he was able to keep something so personal private and not be hounded by tabloids during his illness. What a legend! And how ironic that he passed on Friday, the day the album was released. (UPDATE: One of the articles I read erroneously said he died Friday.) I'm still in disbelief because he just seemed eternal - bet he was human like the rest of us. A true original with an amazing body of work.

He didn't pass on Friday. He passed yesterday. Also, I feel bad for people who assumed Adele was guaranteed Grammy win for Best Album. Watch David be nominated...and win. Wouldn't be the first time the Grammys gave AOTY to someone who had recently passed and with the critical acclaim for this, it wouldn't exactly be undeserved either.

He certainly will be nominated I'd say...

Only a couple of songs from Blackstar left to get through and yeah...this album is everything. It would deserve an AOTY nomination based on Blackstar, Lazarus, Sue (Or In A Season of Crime), and Girl Loves Me ALONE. David went out with a bang, like the legend he is.

Video is so raw and too real. youtu.be/y-JqH1M4Ya8This unearthly genius held onto his pain for 18 months in secret. He left the same way he arrived. "The stars look different today". Give him his Grammy, his Emmy, his Tony, his Oscar

His videos were viewed 51M times on Vevo on Monday, shattering Adele's one-day record by 15M.
