I'm like in love with "Hothouse." It's a lot better than I expected, and surprisingly memorable for a song that isn't really catchy. I'm into it.

They said there would be an EP out in early 2014 to come before the album. Clearly that didn't happen. -_-
I need music from them. My rediscovery of Into the Rush (specifically "Something More" and "Collapsed") has me dying for new material.

Bumping this because they did a Twitter Q&A yesterday to answer questions mainly about music, and their 3rd album is finally happening! - They start recording the album this month. - They are recording the record with Mike Elizondo and Ryan Spraker - They are recording a full-length version of "Boy", which is a great song they performed live for Billboard in 2013- They want to release it through a label because it's "much easier that way." They hinted at 78violet being independent was too difficult. - The sound will still be "at its core" them but "more subtle" (so vague) - And they're back to Aly & AJ! No more 78violet, thank god. |

And it's only on Spotify right now, no iTunes yet. I wonder if this were a mistake by Spotify to release it already? ETA: I was right! The song was uploaded prematurely. A new version will be coming soon. |

The EP is out tomorrow and USA Today premiered the two tracks we hadn't heard yet: "Promises" and "Ten Years."
Also, their plan is to release a full album with a major label next year. The EP is supposed to be a reintroduction to them and this new sound.
Every song is fantastic tbh. They're each perfectly 80s-inspired, chill pop tracks. I am so here for this.

For a totally independent artist, that's awesome. They've also been selling the EP via their Pledge Music page for a bit, so the superfans got it there. Very happy for them. |

Can't believe how much I like Take Me and Promises. They are perfect for this chill synth sound.
I actually also weirdly like the album cover?!

For no real reason at all other than sheer boredom, here's how many plays (and the % increase) each TY track has received over the past two days on Spotify:
Take Me 27,401
Promises 7,605
I Know 7,525
The Distance 6,806
Promises 1.563418676%
The Distance 1.353452836%
I Know 0.832595707%
Take Me 0.49216242%
This is actually kind of interesting. "Promises" was outpacing "The Distance" until last month when "The Distance" began outpacing "Promises," and as of right now, "Promises" has the last amount of total streams out of the entire EP. However, a few days ago, they performed "Promises" on TRL, and now "Promises" it outpacing even "I Know"!

Really random, but the Hellcats EP soundtrack is finally on Spotify, meaning "Belong Here" is now available to stream! It was the theme song to the show. (It was a show from a few years back that Aly starred in. It aired on The CW.) There's also two other songs from Aly on it.
The 78violet moniker just shows how old these songs are, lol.
