Is this an elaborate hoax? There have been reports all afternoon from various sources that he was in the hospital being treated for seizures. Now that sources are saying he's dying, Mack Maine says none of it is true and Lil' Wayne isn't even in the hospital.
Mack Maine @mackmaine Wayne is alive and well! We watching the Syracuse game...thanks for the prayers and concern..he will update you all soon. #love
Mack Maine @mackmaine We will be releasing an official statement shortly but dont believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe...that's false!!

This seems pretty hoaxy. Looks like some damage control to make sure the album sells. The Emmitt Till and Miami Heat outbursts were both huge dick moves and were definitely alienating his fanbase.

Things aren't clear, and that's the reason I'm playing that card. Can't tell if he's in or out the hospital, if he's actually sending tweets an hour after apparently being in a coma giving his last rites, if his family was actually concerned or not. Nothing is adding up and after 18 hours, we still don't have an official confirmation on anything that happened to him.

TMZ is scummy as all get out, but they are usually on point with their scummy reports.
I'm inclined to think that Lil Wayne did seem like he was close to dying (which is the report TMZ ran with), but recovered at least somewhat which is why his camp is saying he's fine. I doubt he's completely out of the woods yet regardless. I hope he pulls through.

Well this was a scare I wasn't prepared for.
Thankfully the most recent reports are consistently coming in that he's expected to recover... if he can manage to pull off the velcro that attaches him to his sizzurp.
That's from US Weekly less than one hour ago.

he's disgusting and needs to get his act together, or next time he won't be "close" to dying - he will die. and that's a tragedy that nobody should suffer at the mere age of 30

I feel bad that I don't care what happens to him, but I guess maybe I always expected him to die young.

LIL WAYNE Day 6 in Intensive Care
Lil Wayne is still in rough shape ... and remains in the intensive care unit at an L.A. hospital 6 days after being admitted for seizures stemming from a suspected drug overdose ... TMZ has learned.
Sources tell us ... Wayne's condition has not improved enough to be moved out of the ICU ... and he continues to be monitored very closely by staff at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai hospital.
We know Wayne has been surrounded by friends and family since he was admitted to the ICU this past Wednesday ... and we're told the mood around Wayne's bedside has been very serious.
Among Wayne's visitors -- Drake, Chris Paul, Nicki Minaj, Birdman and others.
TMZ broke the story ... Wayne's stomach was pumped at least 3 times after doctors suspected he had overdosed on the prescription drug codeine ... the main ingredient in "sizzurp."
Wayne has struggled with codeine for years -- and just a few months ago suggested he had quit using the powerful painkiller.

I'm not buying this "not drug related" business. LIL WAYNE RELEASED FROM ICU, UPGRADED TO STABLE CONDITIONThings are looking up for Lil Wayne. The Young Money mogul has been transferred out of the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles after doctors upgraded his condition to stable. TMZ reports that Wayne has been moved into a “regular room” at the hospital and no longer requires full-time supervision. He is also reportedly walking around and eating on his own, and could be discharged from the hospital in the coming days. In a call to Angie Martinez earlier in the day, Birdman said that Wayne had been in the hospital since Tuesday after suffering a single seizure. He also denied reports of a drug overdose. “It had nothing to do with drugs,” said Baby, attributing the hospitalization to his work ethic. “It’s more of not getting the proper rest.” www.rap-up.com/2013/03/18/lil-wayne-released-from-icu-upgraded-to-stable-condition/

Yeah, it doesn't seem like it'd be completely independent of drug use.

If someone truly is critical (which it seems Wayne never was in the first place, but hey), often they'll be put on a vent or some other form of breathing mechanism and some medications so that their bodies have less "work" to do so that they can "rest" and focus on the healing process. Regardless, TMZ is just covering their ass. Even if he was in the ICU for a certain amount of time, they really screwed this one up.

Why do people not think he was in critical condition??? Its confirmed he spent 6 days in ICU... ICU is for patients that are in critical condition.
I think TMZ was right with their initial report.

With the way he's going, he'll be right back there again in a few months.
