new peak of 11 on the hot 100 this week How do you get this info so early? And how come h100 positions are only posted for certain songs Wednesday night and not others? 1. there is a twitter you can follow that has tons of chart details. 2. typically its songs that are rising, and are used in an article.

Looking at the success of this song, daft punk, macklemore, jt, Bruno and even Mariah I hope we can finally say goodbye to edm music on pop

I hope not. There's no reason why EDM songs still can't crack the charts while songs like this do as well.
I feel like the worst thing that could happen at Pop is it there is suddenly a massive influx of disco and 70s-throwback-era singles. The ones out now I like but I don't think it would be able to sustain the pop format if there were too many at once.

I feel like robin influenced JTs sound esp for suit and tie and suit and tie paved the way for robin to cross over.
When suit and tie came out people said it wasn't pop radio and now that throwback sound is what's hot on pop radio

#Beautiful, The Way, Get Lucky, Blurred Lines, Suit & Tie, Treasure... :o There is an influx of Disco/R&B flavored retro feel coming back!?
Safe and Sound by Capital Cities has influences as well, I hope it smashes!
Dance-pop and EDM won't fade away for sure but it's not ruling top 40 anymore like it was back in 2009-2011. Not a single dance-pop #1 on CHR this year so far.

I think now that the EDM takeover is starting to fade, R&B is just starting to find its way back to pop radio. I don't think the 70s disco/funk sound is going to take over at pop radio the same way Euro-influenced club-pop did the past few years. I'm sure we'll get some other pop acts doing the retro thing on their albums though.

I also like how some of the more dated sounding teenage girl rehash songs (22, here's to never growing up, all of ki$shas singles) are no longer dominating as that formula like the edm music were getting stail

Yeah! and after that "Get Lucky" and "Blurred Lines" are sure contenders. :o Huge songs atm. I'll lol if "Can't Hold Us" saves the top spot for Daft Punk lol By the way Icona Pop is considered EDM? Billboard calls them that and "turbo-pop".

I still have to hear the song a couple of more times to judge my feelings on it, but I am a tad bothered that it takes this song (with the featured artists) to make Robin Thicke finally breakthrough on pop. His prior music was absolutely fabulous - Lost Without You is a great tune.

I just listened to the track in full for the first time- not bad. Is that incessant background "Woo" supposed to be a mimic of Michael Jackson in "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough"?

I think the key to a great pop chart is variety. When every song on the chart is influenced by the same genre, it'll get stale no matter what it is. The return of artists such as JT and Fall Out Boy, the presence of pop girls like Rihanna and P!nk, plus the debut of new artists such as Macklemore and The Imagine Dragons is what is bringing life to pop music. Any one of those groups alone would be rather boring.
It should also be considered that EDM music itself has a lot of different sub-genres that all sound different. Pop radio just decided to focus on one tiny aspect of EDM while leaving an entire universe of electronic music untouched..which is rather unfortunate. Producers such as Dr. Luke and Calvin Harris, while great, barely demonstrate the true capabilities and variety present within the ever expanding EDM scene. As a lover of this genre myself, it does disappoint me that people still don't understand what's actually available in electronic music. After all, though, pop is merely a type of music that borrows bits and pieces from other genres. I don't think anyone expected actual EDM to be popularized.
On another note, does anyone have the most recent one week domestic sales for this song? I've been searching for it, but it's been overshadowed by all the other amazing records he's breaking. Everyone seems to be leaving this detail out!
