Probably should have gone uptempo. I like this, though!

I'm curious... is this an actual SINGLE? Or is it just a song she's releasing? If it's not a single, we may wanna shift this into the Non-Singles/News thread.

Someone posted about it in there already. So it's there and here. I haven't heard this song but I do find it odd, if it is a single, for her to release a cover song right off the bat rather than original material. I believe this song was done by Kenny Rogers prior to this.

I knew Kenny Rogers version of the song. Also I know Pam Tillis has a version of the song she recorded several years back. This song has been around awhile and I always thought it could be a hit if recorded by someone with current momentum. Kellie doesn't necessarily have that either when it comes to radio, but I can't wait to hear her take on it!

And that's smashing! I don't think this situation is very similar at all. "Wagon Wheel" is a tune that would commonly be played by bar bands in many parts of the country and was already a very popular song, yet it had never been recorded and put out to mainstream country radio by a major name. Darius took advantage of the opportunity to do so and now he's reaping the rewards of that choice, which many saw as somewhat of a gamble. In Kellie's case it's more like she's releasing a song that was previously an album track for Kenny Rogers. This song won't be widely known at all like "Wagon Wheel" was (I'm not saying everyone knew WW, but Old Crow Medicine Show's version was certified Gold several years back already, and plenty of others have recorded it but never turned it into a big hit either because they weren't a big enough name or they didn't have the means to turn it into a hit). Instead, I'd liken this situation to Eric Paslay's current single "Friday Night", which appeared on Lady Antebellum's 2011 album Own The Night. It's not entirely uncommon for an artist to release a song that appeared on someone else's album, and that's really all that Kellie is doing here.

I hope this does something since she has DWTS to help promote it. A performance to ~10 million people certainly wouldn't hurt.

Wow. This was fast. I honestly wasn't expecting anything until DWTS was over; it's a very pleasant surprise regardless, though.

Words can't describe how thrilled I was to see that she has a new single coming out so soon. I am so excited and can't wait to hear this!

No one will be able to top Pam's version. I absolutely LOVED this song when I heard it on the fantastic Rhinestoned album. I am glad it is getting a release, however, I would have preferred Pam's version had been released.

I hope Pickler does well with this. I think she's a great addition to the country music scene.

I don't see anything official to indicate that this is a single (as opposed to just a song being released for sale), so I'm moving this over to the Non-Singles/Album Tracks forum for now. Please feel free to PM a staff member about moving this thread back into this forum if an official source (as delineated here, rule #4 appears. Thanks in advance.

Kellie is a very viable candidate for FVOTY awards if radio would give her a chance. She's got a great voice and good material. I just hope this is the break she deserves.

Wow. Im pleasently surprised that shes sticking with the sound of her last album. To the point that I wouldnt even play the clip til I read it was same from Pam Tillis amazing Rhinestoned album. Steelo's right , she doesnt take this from Ms. Tillis (but hell, who could?). But this is a very respectable version. I really hope this can do something.

Very pretty song but I don't see good radio potential for it. Unfortunately I doubt it will do much.
Her voice really is captivating to me tho.

This is breathtaking. Beautiful arrangement and vocals. Finally, Kellie has found a path that suits her.
Crossing my fingers this does something.

I like this quite a bit. Her vocal is fantastic, and the lyrics are really nice. I'm also enjoying the sonic nature of the song as well, because it feels a bit like a more contemporary and polished version of "100 Proof" (the song), but it's still rooted in her more neo-traditional sounds as well.
Not sure how well I expect this to do; I'm not sure I see this being a runaway breakthrough hit of sorts for her, but I do think there's a good chance this will get her back to at least the Top 25, and anything better than that would just be lovely. Her track record has been pretty good overall, despite her recent mishandling by BNA, so I wouldn't be surprised to see this do alright with the right label support and some added hype from the DWTS stint.

I am glad it is getting a release, however, I would have preferred Pam's version had been released. Rhinestoned is one of my two all-time favorite albums, and I listen to it whenever I want to be reassured that country music has depth and beauty to it. I would have loved Pam's version on the radio, but having any version of it on the radio is better than having none. Good luck, Kellie -- let's see you crack the top 5.
