Kellie's voice is gorgeous on this, the song is pretty and she's so darned likable. I'm really rooting for her but this song is soooo slow, I'm not sure if I can imagine hearing it on my car radio at all. I listened to her last album on Spotify and while I thought her voice was amazing, the songs & production were ultimately too country for me so I didn't buy it. This sounds similar to me so I'll just say it's nice when an artist stays true to themselves, so for her fans who love this sound from her, congrats.
The early adds are a very good sign, so we'll see how this goes. I'm pulling for her so much even if her sound isn't exactly right for me.

Kellie posted on her Facebook talking about how busy next week will be for her. She said she's shooting the video for Someone Somewhere Tonight next Thursday.

Do we have any idea how this is doing on radio? Doesn't seem like it's doing too hot right now.

Do we have any idea how this is doing on radio? Doesn't seem like it's doing too hot right now. Not sure why you feel that way. It got 27 adds 2 weeks ago, 6 adds last week, and 7 more today. I'd say it's doing just fine, considering she hasn't had a song go higher than #30 in a few years now. I don't think anyone should expect this to fly up the chart, though. It debuted on Billboard at #57 last week, and the new chart should be out very soon. It'll just be its 2nd chart week, so it's awfully early to be worried about this song. If it had only gotten about 5 adds, then yeah, there'd be reason to worry, but she's gotten 42 adds since the song hit radio a few weeks back, and that's a pretty decent start.

The Opry also posted her performance of this song on their YouTube account today. I have to say this is probably her best live-sounding single to date. She sounds absolutely amazing. Her consistency has come a long way.

Wow, and I thought the previous live performance video sounded good! She just sounded absolutely amazing on this at the Grand Ole Opry. Her vocals even sounded like they were better than on the recorded version. Really nice to see her getting some solid promo for this out of the gate, and I really hope it helps her out. So far this song seems to be off to a nice start, so I've got my fingers crossed that it can be at least a Top 20 hit for her!

Just a qustion. How many spins/AI does it usually take to make it to the top 50 of the charts? How far is Kellie from making it to the top 50?

Just a qustion. How many spins/AI does it usually take to make it to the top 50 of the charts? How far is Kellie from making it to the top 50? Mediabase goes by points, so I'm not sure there. But for Billboard, usually 1 to 1.2 million will get a song into the top 50. Sometimes a song can be in the top 50 with only 900k. Kellie's already at 939k which is pretty high considering she's 'only' at #54, but that just means that there's a big number of songs posting some moderate audience totals, even in the lower regions of the chart. She's gonna need some more adds and some songs to go recurrent, but like rsmatto said, we should expect a slow, steady climb. There's no way she'll stay ahead of Miranda and Taylor and the Eli Young Band, and if Darius, George, and Tim release new singles soon, those will all go up pretty quickly. But for now, Kellie and her team need to just keep focusing on small gains and getting more stations to commit to this song. If she can even gain 300-400k a week, that'd be nice, but maybe we'll have to settle for 200-300k gains during each of the next 2-3 weeks and see how things look from there.

Should be safe for the rest of its chart run -- it's #48 in spins now and I doubt it ever falls below #50 in spins from here on. That means it will be reported on the daily updates and it will be published in the next edition of the MB chart that we see in Country Aircheck.
In my dreams, this becomes her career song and provides her a breakthrough hit. I think of Maybe It Was Memphis as Pam Tillis' career song (even though it didn't get to #1, and her only #1 never sounded like a "career song" to me) and maybe this can follow the same chart path as Memphis did for Pam.

Martina McBride has often called "Independence Day" her 'career song' and that never even hit Top 10!

Now SST is sitting at #50 on MB, a bit precariously -- Miranda Lambert could take her off the top 50, or Tim McGraw could if he had a sudden surge of airplay for his new single. And there's Eli Young Band and Kelly Clarkson... I still think she'll hang on to a top 50 position as of this Sunday's deadline, and after that she won't have to fear getting pushed aside for the rest of her run. Tim's old song will go recurrent and possibly Rachel Farley's song will drop off as well.

"Southern Girl" didn't get any adds this week, so we don't have to worry about Tim passing up Kellie just yet. Miranda will probably pass Kellie up on MB at the very end of the week, but Tim/Taylor and Rachel are going recurrent this Sunday, plus Chris Janson is on the way down and could fall out of the top 50 this week and Chris Cagle is really struggling and I think Kellie has a good shot at passing him up by Sunday, so Kellie could be debuting as high as #47 on Mediabase this week. This will have a slow run as Black River is a relatively weak label it seems, but once people really start to hear it (probably after slowly working its way through the 30's and 40's for a few months), I think it will really catch on and could become a big hit.

Miranda did in fact take Kellie off the displayed top 50 today. But the +2 coming from recurrencies should restore Kellie's numbers to view on Sunday evening. I just don't like it when my favorite songs do disappearing acts, but I know SST will be back.

Although it's disappointing that this is moving slowly, I feel this may be the biggest song of Kellie's career to date. I'll be seeing her Sunday for the "I lost track" time. I'm glad she decided to stop putting out music that somehow just didn't showcase her at her best. 100 Proof was an album that showed us what she's capable of & she has continued on with this next album. She did an interview for the Newspaper for the upcoming show and she talks about the video for this song among other things. I'm looking forward to maybe seeing it during Sunday's show. Here's the article, www.clarionledger.com/article/20130627/FEAT/306270021/Pickler-headlines-concert-Sunday

The video is amazing, simply put. There really isn't too much to say other than the fact that it's absolutely beautiful. Easily the best of her entire career thus far.

Video was nice. I wish there had been more setting instead of just the room but Kellie and Derek's chemistry is undeniable.
