Maybe because she is more of considered a pop singer before, so atleast they will have a slow transition to country, with pop-country now, but I'm sure most of her songs will be "more country", if a term like that exist since articles are all over the internet with her saying she really has country roots and pop-rock is just a phase. Don't know if this helps support this or not, but here's Cassadee as a youngster ;) www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJBE-77N2x4Cassadee Pope wearing a cowboy hat while singing a non-country version of what was originally a country song is very nearly a perfect representation of what she's doing now.

This is a little late, but her video for this song is AMAZING! I LOVE the parts of her on the swing in the rain.

Cassadee has a fantastic voice, but I don't think I'll ever be able to take her seriously as a country artist.
Not only was she presumably pushed into that direction by Blake, but everything about this song and vocal screams "pure pop" to my ears. Shame, because I honestly could see her having a decent future in the business, seeing that she's a beautiful woman and talented singer.
I just hate it when artists seem to be in a genre for popularity's sake, and I don't think even Big Machine will be able to mask the fact that Cassadee just does not come across as authentic.

I just hate it when artists seem to be in a genre for popularity's sake, and I don't think even Big Machine will be able to mask the fact that Cassadee just does not come across as authentic. I agree that Cassadee sounds much more like a pop artist than a country artist, at least vocally, but honestly I can see her having a future within the genre. In years past I doubt she would've tried to go the country route but with so much pop/rock music already on country airwaves these days, Cassadee fits right in. I'm sure she doesn't mind slapping a little fiddle or banjo on to certain songs. The pop-country sound has proven plenty popular and it's worked very well for others. Cassadee isn't my favorite by any means--I do like her voice, but my preference is definitely for the more 'country-sounding' vocals and songs, although I do enjoy country-pop if it's done very well (see Rubberband by Charlie Worsham for my definition of country-pop perfection). But I think it's a bit premature to say that Big Machine/Republic won't be able to do much with her because so far they're/she's doing just fine, especially considering that she's a new female artist. The call-out for this song is improving little by little (as listeners get more familiar with it), the sales have been good, and WATT is sitting at #29 on Billboard Country Airplay already after just 12 weeks--that's quite the quick start for any new artist, regardless of whether the artist is male or female.

So she killed that performance. Hit the big notes and was believable in the song...Danielle could learn a thing or two from her fellow voice winner

Wow. Just heard 11 and it didn't sound like "a pop song with country instrumentation." Suddenly, Cassadee's starting to impress me as a "country" artist.

I broke down and cried to "11." Talk about powerful. Loved it. I'm starting to warm up to this girl a lot and I'm looking forward to what her album sounds like.

Wasting All These Tears and 11 are both fantastic. Listening to Wasting All These Tears has her sounding like Avril Lavigne a little bit to me. Regardless of what genre people consider her, fantastic voice! Hope to see her live someday.

I think that "11" could resonate to the crowd that made Taylor Swift the superstar she is (which she has since then alienated). The song sounds like it would fit on Taylor's first record.

My first thought when I heard this song was it is what Taylor Swift would sound like if she had a stronger voice. Musically its very Taylor.

"Good Times" is so good! Reminds me of The Wreckers. Great song. Can't wait to get this album, every song so far has been a knock-out.

After listening to Champagne, it's clear that they are running after cross-over success.

But honestly, it would be a huge missed opportunity if they didn't aim for crossover success with Cassadee.

No listening party thread for Frame By Frame. Cassadee Pope debuts at #1 on the country chart and #9 on the top 200 chart with 43,000 sold. Congratulations, Cassadee!

I bought the album and it is awesome. Singles should be "Good Times", "22" and either "I Could Break Your Heart" or "Easier To Lie". But the album is very very good.

I haven't listened to the album yet; only a couple of songs, but I am definitely planning to pick it up, so thanks for the endorsement. She's got a great voice; I love the clear tone of her voice, reminds me of Avril Lavigne. Is there going to be a listening post? I was hoping to find one here.

This is one of my favorite albums of the year. Every song on it is great! "11", "Champagne", and "This Car" are my favorites, plus the lead single. I definitely want to see "11" as the next single, but really any song on the album would work. The only 2 I wouldn't want to see as singles would be "Everybody Sings" and "Proved You Wrong". Not that they are bad, the rest of the album is just a lot better, imo. But congrats to Cassadee on her #1 country album and I hope "Tears" can keep climbing and hopefully go top 5!

I think "11" is so much better than "Wasting All These Tears". It sounds very early-Taylor-Swift.
Haven't checked out the rest of the album though.

Kinda a overarching questions here
1) anybody think this has a shot at top five or no. 1? It is close enough to top 10 I think that is a shoo-in when you consider her label?
2) Would a top 10 song and #1 album that continues to sell well mean a female vocalist nod come feb? She would be one of only five females to earn a top 10 within the year unless Daniele, Jana, Lauren, Kelly or Sheryl could pull something off?
3) second singles are important. I say she has to go 11--thoughts? I think it could be If I Die Young-band perry breakout song for her.
