I heard this live on Saturday night and thought it was great. It sounds like a hit single to me.

We'll see if the Republic promo staff can get their heads out of FGL and TBP a$$es and get behind something else...

We'll see if the Republic promo staff can get their heads out of FGL and TBP a$$es and get behind something else... mus1cr0w Considering the EYB scored 2 massive, Platinum #1 hits from their last album (the last of those #1's coming less than a year ago, in July), I think Republic has done just fine with them. "Say Goodnight" fizzled out before the top 20 but that one should've never been a single considering all the other options they had from Life At Best. Also, the album had basically sold all it was gonna sell by the time SG was released, and SG never proved to be a big digital seller like CG and EIIBYH were, so when it ran into a wall outside the top 20, Republic just decided to let it go. Now, with the little gap between SG's peak and the release of DLN, you can bet that radio will be craving new EYB music. Based on the live performance of "Drunk Last Night", it sounds pretty decent and I'm guessing it'll turn out to be a hit, especially since it's a brand new tune. I highly doubt I'll like it as much as I liked "Even If It Breaks Your Heart", but I love this band and I love Mike Eli's vocals, so I can't wait to hear the studio version of this one, and to see how well it does on the charts.

I don't blame Republic for Say Goodnight at all. That was flat-out the wrong single to send out, and radio/listeners reacted as such. FITB I am still ridiculously bitter about and will blame the world for. Hmph.

Live version sounds good. I'll have to wait for the studio version to see what I think of it, but it sounds VERY promising. I like EYB, but the majority of their singles just haven't done it for me. When It Rains still remains a favorite, and nothing else has come close to that one for me.

Somebody please tell me that I am not the only one who sees the title and starts singing "Drunk last night, drunk the night before, Gonna get drunk tonight like I never got drunk before". Dang I feel old. *grin*
Well I don't have time to sit and listen to this right now, but just seeing an EYB song show up on the discussion board is enough to make me smile. Sounds like you all are giving it some positive comments. Looking forward to listening to it later. (After I walk around all day singing "drunk last night, drunk the night before.......") :)

It's tough for EVERY artist if they don't keep sending stuff radio thinks they need.

This was sent out to radio today. It sounds great, I think it will be a huge hit. Maybe not on the level of "Crazy Girl" or "Even If It Breaks Your Heart," but I think this will make the top 5 and have a chance at #1 depending on timing.

Can't wait to hear the studio version, not up on All-Access yet.
UPDATE: THIS SOUNDS FANTASTIC. A bit loud, similar to Even If It Breaks Your Heart in that department, but should be another hit in my opinion.

I was getting a little worried until the chorus kicked in - then it became unmistakably Eli Young. I think I like it better than Crazy Girl, though I'm not sure it's as immediate (there are probably a dozen better songs from their last album, but the bar was set awfully high). No doubt this will get them back into the Top 10 though, it's catchy enough, it stands out, and Mike Eli is still one of the best male vocalists going.

EYB desperately needs a new producer. All of their songs sound so muddy thanks to Frank Liddell's ridiculous overproduction. He just makes everything so freaking loud, and then compresses it into a total mess. I know he can produce interesting stuff, as he's done so often for Miranda — why can't he show some restraint now and then on EYB or David Nail, too?
This one isn't so bad, but some parts of it still sounded Liddell-ish to me.

Finally got around to listening to the studio version of this: very solid return to form despite the SG fiasco. Should have no problem going top 10, if not #1. I also can't wait for the album since I thoroughly enjoyed a huge portion of Life at Best. Hope it can come out before Thanksgiving.

My favorite single of theirs. This is really good. The chorus is catchy as all get out.

I'm surprised people aren't talking about this song. Wow, it sounds fresh on the radio! This could be my favorite EYB song they've released and I can't see this not hitting the top ten or higher. I'm sure it will take a typical EYB chart run and peak in about 30 weeks, but I'll take it.

I don't like it as much as I like "Even If It Breaks Your Heart", but this is still much better than a lot of the other songs out on the radio now. I definitely can see a 30-ish week run up to #1. Republic Nashville has done great with these guys, and I'm glad they haven't jumped on the 'frat boy country' bandwagon.

The music video is here:
I've been really, really enjoying this one on the radio. It's very catchy and yet it doesn't come at the expense of the lyrics. Far too often, I find catchy songs to be devoid of substance in the lyrics, but that's not the case here. I love the guitars, drums, and hand claps too. It'll be hard for them to top "Even If It Breaks Your Heart", but this is definitely one of their better songs--and I've liked pretty much everything I've ever heard from them. But I think DLN might be my 2nd favorite single release from them (behind only EIIBYH...gotta give honorable mention to "Always The Love Songs", though).

I do really love this song! It's very catchy, but still has a quality sound to it. I've heard this on the radio several times and it's certainly not a song to get lost in the crowd.

I love that these guys continue to show you can do a modern country sound without compromising quality like so many current artists. With this song starting to take off, I was really hoping for a Q4 album release, but the longer they wait to announce, the more it's looking like a January or February drop.

I am finally starting to hear this more now...on my personalized radio stations, that is. Really rooting for a #1 here; the melody is very catchy and reasonably accessible to radio imho, along with great vocals and intriguing chord progressions, too. Yeah, they're not 100% unique, but I can relieve myself at last after this annoying and massively over-rated frat-boy trend that's been going on and on for ages, it seems

Surprised at how quietly this has been performing. WATZ added it way back in July, but I was almost never hearing it outside CT40 until a couple weeks ago. I didn't realize that it was already Top 20 and still moving.
The chorus is still a little overproduced in typical Frank Liddellian way-too-freaking-loudness, but this is otherwise an extremely solid song.

One of the reasons I love living in Houston: the 2 radio stations here add EYB singles almost instantly and start playing them as if they were already in power rotation. I hear it every single time I'm in the car, which I'm completely OK with. :)

Um guys, this is Top 15, you might wanna start thinking about making some sort of indication that an album is forthcoming…
