Yes, ladies and gentleman. It's the man, the myth, the legend: Ciara. Nearly 10 years ago, she took the ghettos by storm with her #1 hit, "Goodies", and the rest was history. She followed up with more classics such as "1,2 Step" and "Oh". The album itself is pretty decent as well. Not many remarkable songs, but not very many bad ones either. With her follow-up albums doing considerably worse than the last, her career seems to be hanging by a thread. But, she is still determined to keep going. Will she recapture her previous success? Time will tell. But, one thing's for certain: "Goodies", "1, 2 Step" and possibly "Oh" are bound to be remembered as classics of the 00's decade.

The singles are all incredible. The only album track that ever really stood out to me was "Hotline," the others I barely remember. "1, 2 Step" was an instant classic for me, but it took me years to appreciate "Goodies" (the song). On the other hand, I loved "Oh" at the time, but I definitely revisit it the least of the three singles.

"Oh" is unreal. A great debut. I wish "And I" would've taken off.

Love. <3 Her singles were all instant for me, and "1,2 Step" is just slightly better than the title track. That means something, because "1,2" is easily placed in my top 5 favourite hip-hop tracks. "Get Up" was great because of the same sound, don't know what went wrong.

The singles are still bops!
Good album tracks imo are 'Hotline' and 'Thug Style'.

The singles are HOT. Most of the album tracks are real good too: Thug Style, Hotline, Ooh Baby, Next To You, & And I are standouts.

This album brings back memories of my senior year. I stanned for "1,2 Step" and "Oh" only because it featured my favorite rappers. I was happy those two smashed. "Thug Style" and "Lookin At You" were my favorite album tracks.

"Oh" is unreal. A great debut. I wish "And I" would've taken off. THIS! That's my all time favorite Ciara song by FAR but what always confused me is why the hell they never officially released "Hotline"? My radio station played the hell out of it.

And I is awful. With songs like Hotline, Lookin At You, The Title, Pick Up the Phone, Thug Style etc. they chose that as the last single??

The singles (sans "And I" which was good but they should have went with "Hotline" instead) were AMAZING and now that I think about it this album was a really good effort overall. I like every song on this album

And I is awful. With songs like Hotline, Lookin At You, The Title, Pick Up the Phone, Thug Style etc. they chose that as the last single?? Seconded, "And I" sounds like it's from 1998, so it was dated when the album came out. I listened to this all the way through for the first time recently, and it's not nearly as $$$$CrUnK$$$$ as I was expecting, but it just pales in comparison with the rest of her discography. Lyrically, she's delivered so many clever things like "Sophomore" and "Like a Surgeon" that this doesn't measure up. Her voice also gets lost in the production and background vocals on a number of the tracks, making it sound like it could've been any generic young female R&B singer of the time. Only "Goodies" "1,2 Step" "Hotline" and "Pick Up The Phone" stand out for me. Those actually sound like Ciara.

It's not really that good album IMO. The first 3 singles are classics though. I don't care for the rest of that record except Lookin' At You.

This wasn't anything great to start with then and just sounds hilariously dated now. The title track is still horrid, absolutely terrible. Her breathing on some of these tracks makes me LOL. 1, 2 Step, some album track (I wanna say Hotline?), and especially Oh are still fire though and excellent productions.
It's a shame that her pop culture opus seems to be the hermaphrodite rumors and Bow Wow from these years considering how she's progressed.

This is still her best album to date. There is not one bad song on here.

Hotline and Thugstyle should've been singles. This is a really good debut album.

"Thug Style" is still my favorite song from this album, it's always been way too under appreciated.

Wasn't Hotline supposed to be her 5th single after And I flopped.

I agree the singles were pure fire! This was a good album if you want to just chill and lay back. My faves are Pick Up The Phone, Hotline, and Thug Style.

1, 2 Step is probably in my top 100 favorite songs of all time. Such a bop.

It's a solid debut album and she came out of the gate BLAZING with those first three singles. They all still hold up now. "1, 2 Step" and "Goodies" still slay the club (after last weekend, I can testify) and "Oh" remains fire. "And I" is one of the dumbest single choices I've ever seen. "Hotline" and "Thug Style" were on deck ready to smash (hell, even "PUTP") and could have really cemented her during that first era. I understand they wanted to show a different side of her, but that song is trash and if they wanted to go slower, "TS" was the way to go.
As for the album, it completely falls apart after track 8. But those first 8 are really enjoyable.

What an iconic singles run - she was serving fire!!
Goodies - classic, the hypnotic beat is so mesmerizing 1,2 Step - everyone knew this song!! "Don't matter to me, you can dance slow, whichever way the beat, my body will flow" - just makes me want to dance!! Oh - she killed this - the Atlanta vibes and crunk in this song >>>
