On Sunday September 8th George will join the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where he'll serve as honorary captain for the coin toss before the game between the Cowboys and the New York Giants. The game will be nationally televised by NBC beginning at 8:20 p.m. ET. On Monday September 9th George will hold a press conference from AT&T Stadium regarding his 2014 The Cowboy Rides Away Tour. www.countryweekly.com/news/george-strait-joins-dallas-cowboys

^Seems like a good chance that his final show of the tour will be at the stadium in Dallas.
Anxious to see the tour schedule... but bittersweet knowing it's his last tour.

Really hoping he comes to either Pittsburgh or State College, PA on his tour so I can go.

Last show has to be back home in San Antonio so we can see him again right?

<<<Last show has to be back home in San Antonio so we can see him again right?>>>
Last year George said that no cities would be repeated for the 2014 leg of tour, so since he already played San Antonio this year, there's little or no chance he'll play it next year. Seems logical Dallas will be the last show because he's doing the press conference there tomorrow morning.

I'm somewhat tech challenged. Can someone help me out? Where is the press conference streaming from? Will it just be on the front page of his website? Or do I have to click something? So anxious!
EDIT: Scratch that, they put it up.
Also: Yay Philly and Newark!!

Well this song will finally go recurrent on the next Billboard chart, as it's been bullet-less for the last 2 charts. It debuted at #50...and peaked at #50. Here is its chart run on BB Country Airplay, and I don't believe it will get any more chart weeks:

Credits feels too much like an album closer to me though. I'd release Car now, then Credits as he's getting ready to wrap up his tour next summer. Either way though, any scenario with those two singles gives George his best chance to bounce back.

I love both "Car" and "Credits", but I think the song that would give him a hit at this point would be "The Night Is Young". Although it is not the best on this great album, I think he needs something with more of a fun, party atmosphere after the three slower songs in a row. (P.S.: I'm not saying that there should be another party-type song on radio, but I just think that would give him the best opportunity.)

It debuted at #50...and peaked at #50. Pretty crazy for a 2nd single from an artist like George Strait, but not shocking considering the selection. "I Got A Car" is simply the most radio-friendly song on the album, and I think it needs to be released next...

Here is its chart run on BB Country Airplay, and I don't believe it will get any more chart weeks: 50-51-53-51-50-52-53-55 I have been trying to avoid this thread with the disappointment of learning about this song as a single in June and just got around to seeing your post. Very disappointing and I find it just "nails to the chalkboard" frustrating that they went this route with the second single. We've got almost four months now of wasted time from an album that didn't deserve this. I don't know what MCA is going to release next, but I have a feeling it will probably be "That's What Breaking Hearts Do." I was on board with that song as the third single prior to "I Believe," but now I'm not sure. They need to release something to get momentum back, and I still believe "I Got A Car" is the best song for that. I could also see MCA going with "When the Credits Role." This would be a great song for George to sing at the CMA's in November with a great video background of his career in pictures. I don't know, but maybe MCA does know what they are doing and went with "I Believe" as the second single because...they know George is going to get a boost of momentum after he wins Entertainer of the Year? Who knows...

What's all this talk of Entertainer of the Year? Last week, the C.M.A.s made an announcement for this year's nominees. George Strait landed a nomination for Entertainer of the Year with these other artists: Entertainer Of The Year Jason Aldean Luke Bryan Blake Shelton George Strait Taylor Swift

Oh interesting...well hopefully they'll look at his last tour and the sales it did and all that and give him one more major award, I know how big Entertainer of the Year is to him

I just heard from my cousin that "I Got A Car" will be the next single. I'm disappointed it won't be "When The Credits Roll," but hopefully it will be next. It would be perfect to close out the album, and it would be a perfect song to have on the radio as he completes his last tour.

If anything can salvage the mistake that is "I Believe", "I Got A Car" is it! Hopefully all will be forgiven and they will send it to #1 where it belongs!

How credible is the source for I Got A Car? I think it's the best bet but I would have thought they'd go with That's What Breaking Hearts Do since he played it at most of his concerts with I Believe and his last single.

It's highly likely the setlist for the next leg of his tour will be switched up significantly (especially considering what an insanely broad catalog of music he has to choose from), and "I Got a Car" could very well take the place of "That's What Breaking Hearts Do" during his upcoming live shows. I seem to recall Carrie Underwood, for instance, not performing "See You Again" on tour until it was released as the fourth single from Blown Away (someone correct me if I'm wrong on that, though).

If I'm correct George only played "That's What Breaking Hearts Do" and "I Believe" at the last show in San Antonio in June since the album was just released a couple weeks prior to that concert. Prior to the San Antonio concert was the April show in New Orleans.

Is your cousin a radio programmer or affiliated with MCA?? Where is this news coming from?? I'm very happy to hear IGAC will be the next single, but, so far, there's been no official announcement from the MCA/Strait camp that I know of.

^ No, but I believe Rowdawg is cousins with Billy Montana, whose son Randy co-wrote "When the Credits Roll".

Well if this is true I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work on "I Got a Car." It's a surefire hit and will do great at radio.

I like this one but it sounds out of place on country radio today. Of course I never heard this one anyway.. looks like its done already!! Shame. But I liked the album a good deal so I hope that I Got a Car can be a bigger hit. George is the man, I think his music is more Quality than most of the new big stars.
