Jennifer Nettles is one of the best writers in the format today. From the description this song sounds like the civilized version of "Two Black Cadillacs".

Cannot wait to hear the song! And to answer August 19th or August 5th, someone on my Twitter had tweeted Brian Mansfield asking him about that, and he said he was told August 5th to radio by both Jennifer and the head of her label.

I am excited to hear what she has in store for us. Her lyrics have always been one of the strongest of the females in the format.

Found this on twitter. I'm not including the name of the person who tweeted it to respect privacy. But the station mentioned is in Rochester, NY.
"Apparently @925wbee is going to be sampling the new @jennifernettles single sometime this week! #bittersweet #imissmysugars"

From Country Aircheck Today: So adds date is indeed August 19, but typically songs do get sent out to radio at least a week or two in advance of the adds date, so I wonder if this song will still go out to radio on the 5th, which was the initial date reported? I'm personally expecting radio to have this next week but I could be wrong.

That was another thought I had (besides the other way of 5th for radio & 19th for digital) that it could be sent out on the 5th but have an add's date of the 19th. Nothing has been confirmed by Jennifer or UMG it seems with this single. It's kind of just there with no details right now. The stations talking about the song are the one's she visits but they never say dates for it just "August" or "Very soon" for the release. Hopefully it'll become more clearer next week. One can hope anyway. I am getting a little antsy about this all. This one single I'm looking forward to more than anything. I think the album got pushed from fall release to winter because the single is going out so late in the summer now. She has been telling those attending January release of the album followed by a small theater tour next year to promote it. I will say it still surprises me they have been able to hold off on people recording her music at those private/winner only radio tour shows. Jennifer and her camp aren't allowing video recordings to be done by the stations just yet due to the songs still be new to the live setting. I did see two short snippets pop up of her doing a Sugarland song (Everyday America) but they were quickly removed from instagram and the tweets were erased. It was done by someone who worked for the pop/top 40 sister station who happened to attend the show. Her voice was great in those short snippets, the way she did Everyday America was totally different from how she normally does it with Kristian. It took me a minute to realize what the song was because it was totally different that any other version I had heard of the song. That says a lot since I have heard Everyday America so many times since it came out. But anyway, if her songs are anything like the arrangement she did for that she should be good. Only way I can describe it was a lot more folk like a little rootsy, slower and the key it was in was slightly different but it sounded really good and soulful. Hopefully this makes sense. That was from two extremely short snippets mind you. This got off topic, I apologize. But like I said if the new material is anything like I heard in those short snippets of an older Sugarland song, I think a lot of people will be happy. I'll add this before I end this post. It comes from a radio station she did a show for on the 30th. They reviewed the show and included an article with some quotes from Jennifer. But I am only going to put how they explained the new material including this song. "Musically speaking, “the ballads were deep but not overpowering” and “definitely rooted in country,” according to Rick McCracken, music director of Charlotte’s The New 103.7 (a Radio.com station), which sponsored the show. “The uptempo offerings were downright playful,” he continued, and as for Nettles’ vocal work, it was “mesmerizing” and “absolutely stellar.”

I found this article from Slacker that says the single hits radio August 19th, but I'd say wait and see what happens next week. I'm hoping myself we get to hear it sooner, but if we have to wait, we have to wait. EDIT: I found this banner in today's Country Aircheck: Why would the song be sent to radio on a certain date, but not have an add date until two weeks later?

According to WQYK, they are getting a copy of the song Monday. At least that is what it sounded like to me. The DJ said that they should know shortly following when it will be released and able to be played.

I posted that banner yesterday, 2 posts above yours... And nearly every song is sent to radio a week or two in advance of the adds date. For example, Luke Bryan's new single has a adds date of August 5 but it was sent to radio on Tuesday.

It might be Chrome. I tried the thread in firefox and it showed but not in chrome. How odd! ETA: I think it has to do with Ad Blocker. I paused it and it showed up. I never had issues with it until it updated recently. Sorry about that! It honestly wasn't showing until I tinkered with that. It was blocking ad's from showing up in the aircheck daily newsletter too. I might need to switch it because this isn't the first time recently it's done that.

Yeah, I'm on Chrome too. No worries. I was just wondering what was up, because I almost always look at my posts right after I make them, to make sure images are displayed correctly, and to make sure that I didn't spell anything wrong!

Jennifer just tweeted out this link. Basically add the hastag #thatgirl to tweets, facebook posts or instagram posts. It'll reveal the single cover as well as the single when enough people do it.

She certainly knows how to heighten the excitement for something like this - goodness. My Twitter just exploded...
Really though, this is a cool way to get the fans involved and excited about the new music.

Sounds like Miranda's reign as FVOTY will finally be over in 2014. I see Jennifer winning all the awards.

I'm obviously biased here, but if the rest of the song is as good as the preview, this could quite possibly be a hit. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm pleasantly surprised - love it!

Pretty off the wall. Unless she's prepared to do some very extensive radio touring - I can't see this getting played much - it's not very radio friendly.

Interesting clip. Not sure what to make of it without the whole song and a few repeated listens, but my first impression is that I'm not crazy about this. Her enunciation sometimes can be a problem for her, and I felt like the lyrics in the verse required a little extra attentiveness to understand. And, I also felt like the transition from the first verse to the chorus could've been a little bolder; instead, it kind of just laid flat. Sounds like Miranda's reign as FVOTY will finally be over in 2014. I see Jennifer winning all the awards. I wouldn't go that far already. Miranda will have a new album coming out next year, likely in the spring time, so with all that added hype and new music, I could see Miranda hanging on to her crown quite easily. Plus, several times recently we've seen people speculate that Carrie would cause an upset after having a bigger year than Miranda, and she still came up short. I really doubt that Jennifer Nettles will have a bigger year than either Carrie or Miranda.
