Great piece...and the decision by Billboard is head-scratching to say the least.

Great article! It's something I think about a lot, and I've been seeing a lot of online comments about this lately. For example, a lot of people seem upset that Chris Stapleton got so many ACM nominations and it just makes me want to bang my head against a wall. I saw a lot of people commenting on articles and saying things like "I never heard him on the radio! Why are these award shows shoving him down our throats! Blake and Luke had #1 hits, no one even knows who Chris is!" I can't stand those types of "fans". I'd guess that most of them were brought into the genre in the last 10 years or so. It's funny because they all accuse award shows of playing favorites, but...isn't that exactly what radio does, and on a much bigger scale, too? It's not Stapleton's fault that he wasn't getting played on the radio prior to the CMA's. If anything, radio (not TV) shoves certain artists and types of music in our faces. We can't really control what the radio plays any more than we can control how the CMA or ACM members vote, or who they decide to give a performance slot to. So yeah, thanks for sharing the article. I always love reading well-written articles about the dichotomy between what critics think is good and what's popular on the radio. It seems that as more and more time passes, there's less and less overlap.

I don't know what this is from or how it came about, but The Highway was tweeting about it a lot this morning.

I don't know what this is from or how it came about, but The Highway was tweeting about it a lot this morning. It's a Lee Brice/Jerrod Niemann duet! It appears to be a SiriusXM-only single. Here's the video: Not sure if it will be on either of their upcoming albums; Jerrod of course parted ways with Sony Nashville recently. My first thought was that maybe Lee wanted to do a duet with Jerrod (they've been good friends for years) after learning that Jerrod had lost his contract, since this will be a good way for Jerrod to keep his name out there. I'm sure they could have recorded it quickly sometime within the last couple of weeks, but I suppose it's possible they recorded it before Jerrod was let go, too. Anyway, I'm not really a fan of the song. The lyrics are decent, but I don't like the production and the vocal effects. The music and weird vocal effects are just too loud and their voices sound buried as a result.

All you have to do is paste the url of the Facebook video into the box and then the video should display after you click "create post". Hope that helps!

Big & Rich: "Run Away With You (The Groove Remix)". Does anybody know why this is on Spotify. Are they planning to work this at Pop?

Surprised no one has posted this. As y'all may be aware George jones widow Nancy has been planning his biopic movie for a few years. They even picked a screenwriter. Well it was announced a few days ago that josh brolin will play George and Jessica chastain will play Tammy Wynette. These are both academy award nominated actors so now hopefully a big time director steps in. Great news, good casting choices. Can't wait

The Josh Brolin project is a project based off Georgette Jones' book. I don't know how likely it is, but we could possibly get TWO separate movies. www.savingcountrymusic.com/check-that-two-movies-about-the-life-of-george-jones-are-being-made-simultaneously/

Not sure if this is gonna go to radio or anything (it doesn't really sound like a radio single), but Rainey Qualley just put out a new song called "Love in Stereo" this week.

Scotty debuted a new song at his first concert of 2016 last night in Ohio. A song he wrote called "5 More Minutes" after his Grandpa died. This is the song that he really wanted as the single and not "Southern Belle." This would have been a hit.

Has anyone heard any word on a Shania Twain Rock This Country tour DVD being announced soon? Shania's drummer posted this video of the "Red Storm" interlude right before the finale and another with Shania singing, "(If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here!" Both videos have been removed from the drummer's website, but a Shania fansite was able to grab a hold of the "Red Storm" video before it was taken down. rsmatto have you heard anything about a possible release? These photos were also released: This is also the same fan page that hacked Shania's official website last year before the Still The One combo pack was released and published stills from the DVD on the internet. *Shania's website was down a majority of yesterday. I'm wondering if this could be why.

I'm surprised there was no outcry when the male and female Grammy categories were combined. I guess the Grammy awards have not been as historically male dominated as other aspects of the entertainment industry.
