Also rumored is Will.i.am as he hasn't made a final decision on his judging for Voice UK. I haven't watched since Jennifer Lopez left, but this lineup of judges may work. I was so surprised at how much I liked Jennifer Lopez as a judge and I heard a lot of good things about Keith. The show is no doubt declining, but this lineup of judges is so much better than last year's.

God forbid some Country artists even bother touching base in any major west coast city. Venture out of the corn field arenas and come towards Vegas or LA, would ya?

I know your pain, nobody ever comes to Montreal. I have to either travel to Albany or Ottawa to see anybody big. Lady Antebellum were the last ones through here and that's only because they had a pop hit at the time...

You have to go where the fans are and in the case of country music, it mainly is the "Corn Field" arenas.

Seeing as Country is the most-played genre of music on radio in all of the US, you'd think that you wouldn't have to travel so far from such a massive city to go to such a small-scale town. The only acts Vegas and LA ever seem to get are Carrie, Taylor, Luke, and Brad Paisley. Not even Blake Shelton or Lady Antebellum, two of the format's most-played artists, are touching the southwest coast, which consists of markets such as Vegas, LA, San Diego, Phoenix, etc.

Lol @ anyone implying that country artists shouldn't tour the west coast because there's no demand for it. Rascal Flatts just went to Sweden of all places and from what I can tell, they drew a nice crowd there. Country music is definitely in high enough demand everywhere in the U.S., even if (naturally) the market is bigger in places like the Midwest and Southern states.

Wasn't trying to imply that country artist shouldn't go to west coast at all, because obviously they do. There are "corn fields" everywhere!

Country draws its roots from the rural lifestyle, but think about the radio charts. 40 million people are hearing the #1 song each week...those 40 million people aren't out in the fields. They are in NYC, LA, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Atlanta, Florida, the Northeast, etc. Anyway, I know Keith Urban was in LA not that long ago, but he didn't really tour last year if I remember correctly. Phoenix gets its fair share of country concerts though. Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Rascal Flatts (with The Band Perry), and Keith Urban (+ LBT & Dustin Lynch) will all be there in just the next 2 months. They routinely have people play at smaller venues too...I'm always hearing about upcoming acts being at Toby's bar there in Mesa. You should just move to Phoenix, @14887fan / Aiden

They each have so many venues of any size for Country artists to perform at. I actually lived in Tucson for 4 years when I was very young, so I've got some homegrown there and have no problem visiting on occasion, but the weather out in California is...so, so, so much better than Arizona weather. Plus, it's monsoon season, so have fun! ;) ETA: I'm always at the Billboards, ACMs, and ACAs (*barf*, but Carrie's been there every year so it has its rewards), though, so that's a decent fix.

Yeah this is true even Ottawa only gets one or two. In the past 9 years I think we got Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum & Taylor Swift and that's it for Montreal. Dixie Chicks did technically come here but like Lady A & Taylor they were popular outside the genre so they had a pop audience to play to. We do get some smaller or older artists but if I want to see new or current hit makers I have to travel. Albany like I said is always where I end up going. Or Boston.

I live in Washington state, and I totally agree with everyone who wishes country acts would come through the western states more! I may have missed some, but the only people I have heard about coming through the Spokane and Seattle arenas, over the entire last two years, are Carrie and Blake. Heaven forbid if Reba were to perform in the Spokane arena, or if George Strait were to bring his farewell tour to his Seattle fans. I can't even see B-listers who are past the height of their hype but are still too popular to perform at super small venues! It is possible that people come through more often than I realize, but I still have never even heard of someone like Toby Keith, or Kenny Chesney, or Tim McGraw, or Gary Allan coming anywhere near me. I feel like my state is largely forgotten, except for festivals that offer free performances (I got to see Kellie Pickler for free right after her first album because of a festival in my town. They even got Darryl Worley to come through too!) In other words, I do not get to see anyone unless they have literally zero popularity due to the fact that they are just starting out or simply faded to the point where nobody cares anymore.
Our casinos and fairs do redeem the state a little bit though. My family saw Reba at the Puyallup Fair several years ago. And Martina is coming to a casino just outside of Spokane in August (I do not know if she has even stepped foot in Washington since she toured with Alan Jackson in '04, except maybe to come to the Puyallup Fair herself once.) We have seen Sara Evans both at a casino and at the Evergreen State Fair as well! So if you are diligent and follow your favorite artists, you may see them hit a small venue in WA once every 5 or 6 years or so. But as soon as they launch or join a larger tour, you can pretty much expect not to see them.

I don't think the dates have been announced yet, but the Dierks/Miranda tour will be hitting Washington state near the end of its run (I know at least Tacoma is listed on the tour shirts, but I feed like I remember 2 dates listed in WA). So, there's that, at least. (One of the stations in Seattle was one of the first to get behind Dierks back in 2003 so he tries to get back there as often as possible. He also plays Vegas a lot for what its worth. ;) )

Another country American Idol judge?
When the Band Perry sang ‘Done’ with former ‘American Idol’ contestant Janelle Arthur, fans were really excited to see the hot country trio perform — but, were the show’s executives keeping an eye on trio member Kimberly Perry as a possible ‘Idol’ judge?
With the recent surprising announcement of a huge upheaval in the judging roster, everyone’s wondering who will be sitting on the judging panel come next season. According to MJSBigBlog, a survey popped up in which a commenter on the site surveyed other readers, asking about potential judges for the show’s upcoming 13th season. On the list in addition to Perry were Pharrell Williams, Will-i-am (who is also judge on ‘The Voice UK’) and Grace Potter.
Now, everyone’s wondering — could it have been someone behind the scenes on the show taking the survey? It’s certainly a random conglomeration of potential panelists, and it would definitely make sense to see who ‘Idol’ fans would embrace as new judges.
The beautiful Perry would be a welcome addition to the panel, especially after the feisty personalities of Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey overtook the show — and not in a good way. The 30-year-old songstress has proven her ability to light up the stage and is always sweet and respectful during interviews. Plus, with Keith Urban’s hopeful return, country music could play a big part in the show.
On the most recent season of ‘The Voice,’ country music took over and the show’s ratings were sky high. ‘Idol’ could very well be taking notes — and eying Perry as their next judge.

Ooh! I love Carrie's demo of this song! Heck, it was written by Katrina Elam and Ashley Monroe plus Carrie herself, it was bound to be great! I'll need to check out Rachel's version. Obviously it won't do anything on radio, but it'll be nice to have a studio version of the song by some vocalist, even if its not Carrie.

Randy Travis has been discharged from the hospital, more than three weeks after he was admitted for a heart condition. But the singer won’t be returning home yet.
According to a statement from his publicist on Wednesday (July 31), Travis has been released from Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas, and relocated to a physical therapy facility.
The singer was hospitalized on Sunday, July 7, suffering from viral cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. He suffered a subsequent stroke, necessitating emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. In an update on July 15, Travis’ doctors revealed that his condition has become chronic and will require long-term care.
Travis has already been undergoing physical therapy. He will continue with a very intensive regimen now that he is in a private care facility. His doctors expect that it will take months for him to recover from his stroke.
Travis’ fiancee, Mary Davis, expressed her gratitude to everyone who has stood by the singer through his health battles. “Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery,” she said.

Love me some Linda Davis. I think a lot of her songs underperformed against how well I thought they would and should have done. Some Things Are Meant To Be was her biggest solo hit but it only went to 13. That song was tailer made for country radio at the time and would have been a multi-week number one for prominent females of the time. The follow-up, A Love Story In The Making, didn't even crack the top 30 and it's probably my favorite Linda single...a nice mid-tempo story love song. And then there's the above song, I'm Yours. This seemed like the country-pop song of the time that was a guaranteed hit coming off of the top 20 song I Wanna Remember This but barely went top 40. I guess she just couldn't get completely out of Reba's shadow.

I've never understood why she never took off either, she fit right in with what was popular and she was able to keep up with the changes sound wise throughout the 90's. Guess she just wasn't meant to be. :(

Yeah I loved Linda. I have all her CDS. Even the ones from the early 90s that really under performed. I'm glad in a way she kinda got the last laugh by her daughter becoming everything she dreamed of herself.

@bigmachine It's almost here! Keep an eye on our official @bigmachine Vine account for a special announcement tomorrow! I wonder who it's going to be...
I'm wondering if Rascal Flatts are releasing news tomorrow. They've been quiet for months now, but if they're still planinng on a 4th quarter release, that means something will be coming anyday now. Plus, Jay and JD both use Vine a lot, which could be a hint.
BM's other major artists (Taylor, TBP, and Tim McGraw), have all released new music recently, so it's unlikely to be about one of them. I wouldn't think Big Machine would hype any kind of announcement for their newer artists with little buzz, like Casadee, Danielle, or Rae Lynn. I guess we'll find out tomorrow, though.

That would be cool if Rascal Flatts are ready with more stuff for us! I'm interested to see where they go next sound-wise, because I think they have realized that people want some changes to be made. My other theory is that it could be an announcement that Martina has new music coming, and Big Machine has agreed to promote it. Since the general consensus on her label status was that she is free to record what she wants and then Republic will decide whether or not to promote it, as far as I understand it. She has been in the studio, and she too uses Vine quite a bit. However, the Flatts is probably a more plausible guess, based on the fact that we are expecting a 4th quarter release. I'm excited either way!
