Sam Hunt is trash but Haley Georgia deserves a second chance?

Okay, this discussion was pointless when it was clogging up the Record Labels thread and when jhomes87 asked for it stop, I don't think she intended for y'all to just move it over to another thread and continue it there.

I'm hoping someone on here could help give me a list of country songwriters who have put out cds on their own.I'm not talking about established artists. Here are the ones I'm aware of: Kostas Keith Gattis Keith Stegall Harley Allen Jeffery Steele Shane Mcanally Everyone gave some great suggestions but they all missed my favorite Matraca Berg! Albums are great. Some singles she wrote Clint Black & Martina's "Still Holding On" Deana Carter's "We Danced Anyway" & "Strawberry Wine" Dixie Chicks' "If I Fall You're Going Down With Me" Faith Hill's "You're Still Here" & "You Give Me Love" Gretchen Wilson's "I Don't Feel Like Loving You Today" Kenny Chesney's "You And Tequila" Martina McBride's "Wild Angels" & "Cry On The Shoulder Of The Road" Mindy McCready's "All I Want Is Everything" & "Oh Romeo" One More Girl's "Misery Loves Company" Patty Loveless' "I'm That Kind Of Girl", "On Your Way Home", "You Can Feel Bad" Reba McEntire's "The Last One To Know" Sara Evans' "Fool, I'm A Woman" Suzy Bogguss' "Give Me Some Wheels", "Somebody To Love", "Hey Cinderella" Trisha Yearwood's "Everybody Knows" "Wrong Side Of Memphis", "They Call It Falling For a Reason", "XXX's And OOO's" I'd also recommend Jessi Alexander's albums.

Alright The Woken One , I feel like you are trying way too hard to make the "DELETE! DELETE!" thing happen, and it is totally unnecessary. The origins of this whole schtick are ridiculous. Just because a staff member deleted your post in the Record Labels thread before you had a chance to do so yourself does not make you like "Woken Matt Hardy", whoever the heck that is. It is not cute, you do NOT have a following of "Woken Warriors," and you going out of your way to integrate that into your posting personality is bringing a lot of negative attention your way. As for you, raylatch98 , YOU are the one who is drawing out these arguments. You practically respond EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. you see Jeremy post. Him making record label predictions would be a minor annoyance, if you didn't blow it out of proportion and call it to everybody's attention. Literally everybody else is ignoring him after a comment or two, yet you continue to respond to him over multiple posts and even multiple threads. You bring up old arguments that no longer matter, and attack his opinions every chance you get just because you disagree with them. Just stop! If you don't like him, ignore him! You are not going to suddenly change his posting style by baiting him into back-and-forths. You are just going to get yourself into trouble, which I am sure is the last thing we want to see happen! Sorry to derail the thread, but I felt like some things needed to be said... Carry on

Oh but when they ignore great talent like Easton Corbin to promote him I see that as a big mistake, I'm sure all my Woken Warriors would agree he should be DELETED! What the f**k? Woken warriors? I wasn't aware that was a thing, apparently. They didn't ignore Easton Corbin. Promoting a single for over a year doesn't sound like ignoring the artist. Sam Hunt just makes more money for the label, infinitely more so it's not a mistake since they get more money from a Sam Hunt than an Easton Corbin. Well Easton Corbin is country music and Sam Hunt is pop music I myself is a country music fan.

Well Easton Corbin is country music and Sam Hunt is pop music I myself is a country music fan. Well I myself is also a country music fan and I much prefer Sam to Easton. So just because you like Easton better and he's "countrier" than Sam doesn't mean he's the one more deserving of the resources and attention. What many people on this board need to realize is that country music today cannot be boxed into one and only one distinct sound. Its fine if people who is country music fans do not care for some of the poppier country music released within recent years, but that doesn't mean its not country just because the "purists" don't like it. Yes, lots of artists have used pop elements in country music over the past decade (some more than others, especially recently), but country music as a genre has evolved over the years just like every other genre of music has. Its fine to not like the poppier sound and appreciate the traditional country instrumentation and production, but this is how the genre has progressed. People who is pop music fans may not like the EDM craze. People who is alternative rock fans may not like the folksier material. That's fine, but it doesn't mean that because the genre has evolved that this modernized sound doesn't belong. So just because Easton is more traditionally country compared to Sam Hunt does not mean the label should prioritize Easton. Obviously, Sam has been much, much bigger of a success and anyone with any business sense would realize that Sam is a far greater investment than Easton ever was regardless if you like him or not. You're welcome to be upset about Easton leaving UMG, but its not Sam's fault. And PSA to the rest of Pulse: I bet if you complain hard enough, country radio will start playing Alan Jackson and George Strait again and artists like Sam Hunt and Maren Morris will just disappear into thin air. Y'all are doing a mighty fine job at it right now so keep it up... But I myself is very tired of hearing this constant complaining about songs/artists being "pop music" or "not country" in every damn thread.

Don't get me completely wrong I don't totally hate Sam Hunt I just hate the idea his career has exploded and cost others artist's a fair shot, as for Maren Morris she does have more of a country sound than pop in my opinion. I really miss the great artist's of the 90's right now radio needs some artist's like Alan Jackson, Brooks N Dunn, & Lee Ann Womack but there is hope, William Michael Morgan, Midland and Lee Ann's daughter Aubrie Sellers could bring back that 90's country boom.

Hello Fellow Pulse Members, I don't post here often anymore, nor do I typically have this problem, but I heard a song in my doctors office today I would like to hear it again.
My doctors plays a mix / playlist of all current Top 40 country. Nothing more than a few years old, typical iHeart radio stuff. A song came on that sounded like a ballad - maybe close to mid-tempo. Definitely a new artist, his voice was very smooth , almost sounded like Brett Young. The song was very soft, with a nice melody and flowed very nice.
The only thing I heard was the first verse, some lines like "cigarette ashes, and whiskey down the drain etc etc". That's all I could hear. People were talking loud, the volume was low, and the chorus was muffled unfortunately.
Definitely sounded something in the vein of LANco/Brett Young, but sounded very nice.
Anyone know who this was? I would like a second listen to it. Wish I knew more of the lyrics, but I don't. But I can see it's definitely someone new, sounded very modern.
Thanks everyone!

Just curious, why are so many Tucker Beathard songs posted in this thread? Not complaining, but I feel like it's a weekly thing and just wondering.

But no way she's sending anything to country radio. She officially burnt that bridge with "Good 'Ol Boys Club" and I don't blame her a bit. They won't play her in any significant way, so it's not worth bothering. I wouldn't be surprised though if she sends singles moving forward to AAA and Americana radio. The latter just launched a singles chart this year. Her team officially started working Americana radio on her last album, so it should continue on this one

Yeah the potential bridge between Kacey Musgraves and country radio is completely burned and I doubt Kacey Musgraves wants anything to do with country radio and vice versa.

I haven't seen this anywhere, but please delete if needed because it might be old news.
Leah Turner released a self titled EP in 2017 I believe, but about a month ago they released a video for Sleep You Off:
I might have missed it completely but was this released to radio? If not I can't understand why release a video for it months after the EP....anyone has any ideas?

In case anyone was wondering how The Band Perry is doing, they're sporting a new look Better Dig Three. That look is hideous. I don't know, Kimberly at least looks better blonde than she does here: www.interscope.com/artists/the-band-perry(the brother on the right looks really awful in that shot too) In any case, the Perry siblings have horrible fashion sense lol. I almost wonder if they've all gone off the deep end when it comes to both fashion and music. I know many of us have said this over the last couple of years, but I can't think of another country artist/duo/group that has sabotaged such a promising career the way The Band Perry did with theirs. They reeled off 8 top 10 hits in a row and had become one of the top groups in country music, and then their "Gentle on My Mind" cover was a great release to sort of bridge the gap between their 2nd and 3rd albums...but then they haven't released their 3rd album yet, because everything they've released since "Gentle on My Mind" has been...bizarre and uncharacteristic of them, to say the least.

Well the platinum look is better than the "goth" one they were sporting last year... so I guess it is a step up (?!?!) I know the cool thing right now is to bash them, but even with the crazy way they've been acting these past couple of years, I would still be here for a comeback...

Ummmmmmmmmm...
The CMA has appointed Mike Huckabee to their Foundation Board. Sandbox and Monument/Jason Owen has written an open letter denouncing the decision and pulling all support from the Foundation altogether.
What in the actual fuck is the CMA thinking?
