To big Tim McGraw fans:
When he left Curb, did he take his albums with him? Or are they still with Curb?

twitter.com/askjimmycarterJimmy Carter @askjimmycarter Chris Young illness very downplayed.. collapsed on plane..ambulance to ER..to ICU for 2 days..now in regular room..leg infection ..Get Well! Poor guy! :( I did see someone (a flight attendant, I think) tweeting that he'd been "a very sick young man." But if he's in a regular room now, that sounds promising. I didn't know leg infections could be so bad, but then I don't know much about them.

^Thanks! Do you know the name of his publicist or manager? I think his PR is handled by Mary Hilliard at Green Room PR.

I posted this in Kellie's 4th album era thread, but I thought I would drop it here too. Here's another new song on her new album. I love it.

"Ring for Sale" sounds like it'd make a great single choice down the line, maybe as the follow-up to "Little Bit Gypsy." I need this new album ASAP.

It looks like Disney is looking to open yet another Nashville label or partner for a label. Country Aircheck hinted that it could be a deal with Bigger Picture...will be interesting g to see if they do indeed come back or partner with another label...

Anybody keeping tabs on this? From The Boot: Jake Owen might be a fan of Tom Petty, but that doesn’t mean he’ll take any lip from him. In a new interview, the singer-songwriter responded to what he called “uneducated, ridiculous” comments Petty recently made about contemporary country music.
Petty first took a public swipe at new country at a concert in New York in March, calling it “bad rock with a fiddle.”
He expanded on that in an interview with Rolling Stone recently. “Most of that music reminds me of rock in the middle ’80s, where it became incredibly generic and relied on videos,” the rocker lamented. “I’m sure there are people playing country that are doing it well, but they’re just not getting the attention that the s—tier stuff gets. But that’s the way it always is, isn’t it?”
Though he’s still a fan of Petty, Owen is having none of it. “It’s unfortunate that he’d make a ridiculous, uneducated comment like that about a format he’s not even a part of,” he said during an interview with SiriusXM.
“First off, why?” Owen asked rhetorically. “That bums me out a little bit … but everybody makes ignorant comments from time to time.”
He finished, “My dad always said there’s an a– for every seat so if you don’t like it, get out.”
Owen is not the only one to call Petty on his remarks. Chris Stapleton also responded via on open letter, calling on the rocker to come record an album with him if he wants better country music. Now, that's from the Boot, but most of the commenters there agree with Petty. Not too many are thrilled with Jake's comments. I do agree with Petty to an extent, regarding the state of country radio today, but if I'm Jake Owen, I'm upset too. Anyway...Chris Stapleton weighed in as well. His response via Facebook: "Dear Tom Petty, I think it’s safe to say most modern country artists, including me, would list you as an influence. Your recent comments lead me to believe you see room for improvement in modern country music. I, for one, would like to see you put you money where your mouth is in a tangible way. So, in the interest of making Country music less “s–tty” (your words), I suggest a collaboration. I’m extending an open invitation to you to write songs with me, produce recordings on or with me, or otherwise participate in whatever way you see fit in my little corner of music. In the event that you actually read this and are interested, look me up. Sincerely, Chris Stapleton" Source

Because their last one worked SO WELL by hyperfocusing on Rascal Flatts and ignoring literally everyone else. (Seriously, what was with Lisa Shaffer? She was never even on their website. Just had one song that went nowhere, and disappeared the second it fell from the charts.)

If Tom Petty is the guy that wakes up the male country stars to this issue, then that would be an awesome thing. Can you imagine? Petty saves the genre!
Oh and I'd approve of a Stapleton/Petty Collab.

"Anybody keeping tabs on this? From The Boot:"
I am enjoying the drama :)
I have to say I think Petty has a point. I'm sure he doesn't mean ALL modern country-but there is plenty of 'bad rock with a fiddle' going around (and I grew up with Rock as a favorite).
Is it sour grapes or something? I don't really get that impression-Petty has a history of being a little outspoken, although with the current relative unpopularity of classic rock-some would say so.

Not pretending to know who Tom Petty is (I know he's a singer, but I'm unfamiliar with his work), but there's truth to his comments, and in this situation I feel like he just made a Dixie Chicks-esque comment (being as it was evidently during his concert) that's getting more attention that it probably should. In a way, Jake Owen has a reason to maybe be upset, but only if he feels guilty that his music isn't up to par. Personally I'd plant him among the problem group of over-produced rock country, and he's coming off looking pretty butt-hurt with those comments. At least Chris Stapleton's response has a bit of purpose to it, instead of being catty for the sake of being catty (or at least that he's phrasing it better).

She wasn't on there for long before getting dropped however. I'm all for them returning cause while they weren't really "successful" they did always sign some of my favorite artists. That is assuming they sign the same types of artists again, and hopefully they keep the name Lyric Street cause I always loved the name (Leave Carolwood dead please). Speaking of Bigger Picture & Disney wasn't Jessica Andrews in talks with a label last fall and we all assumed it was Bigger Picture? I'm still hoping that something comes from that rumor.

Shania Twain Busy Writing New Music as She Plots October Return to Caesars Palace[/u] by: ABC News Radio
Shania Twain could have some new music to perform in her Shania: Still the One show at Caesars Palace soon. She’s spent her summer at home in Switzerland writing songs for a possible new album. Now she just needs to find the right producer to help her shape the music and get it out to the public.
“That’s the big challenge right now at the moment,” Shania tells ABC News Radio. “It’s a fun challenge. I mean, it’s overwhelming. There’s a lot of amazing producers out there. I’ve just got to make sure that I find the right one suitable to what I want to do and where I want to go with things.”
So far, Shania was written this new batch of songs by herself, but the producer will have a big role in determining the sound and feel of the album.
Says Shania, “That’s why it’s just so important that I get the right person to make sure that it’s the right mix and the right balance of everything.”
In the meantime, Shania’s fans can look forward to 22 more performances of Shania: Still the One at Caesars Palace starting October 15. She kicked off the residency last year to sell-out crowds and rave reviews. Shania credits the show’s success to her longstanding relationship with her fans as well as the risks she took to make Shania: Still the One her most eye-popping production ever.
“You know, you have people that go to shows, probably go to several shows a year,” Shania explains. “They know what they like and they know what to expect and you’ve got to deliver that and more. You have to surprise them.”
Shania admits she was extremely relieved when the show was a success because she put all of herself into it.
She says, “I wrote the show myself. The intention was to take that risk. It was a real challenge for me.”
The ongoing demands of performing such a huge show keep Shania very busy while she’s in Las Vegas, but she hopes to catch some other Vegas headliners’ shows soon. Shania still hasn’t seen fellow Canadian Celine Dion‘s show at Caesars — they both play that same room at different times. As for newcomers to the Vegas strip, Shania expects Britney Spears‘ upcoming show at Planet Hollywood to be a big success when it debuts this winter.
“I’m sure that it’s going to be amazing,” Shania says. “I can only imagine that it would be.”
Tickets for all 22 performances of Shania: Still the One are on sale now at ShaniainVegas.com. She’s playing select dates at Caesars Palace from October 15 through December 14.

When I was researching Jessica for my One Hit Wonder series on Roughstock, I noticed that her Facebook hadn't been touched since 2009, and her website disappeared around the same time. I also found no word on her after that point, so I have to wonder if she quit.

Another thing I didn't notice until I did research for the article was how much her voice evolved with age. I didn't really notice how she'd gotten deeper and huskier around the Now era, and especially on "Summer Girl" and "Everything". For the record, here's my article on her if you haven't read it yet: www.roughstock.com/blog/bobby-s-one-hit-wonders-volume-20-jessica-andrews-who-i-am

Any Country artist who Country radio won't play and put on their "special" A and B list who always gets in the top 20. Some artists could record themselves passing gas and it will hit #1 and then cross over!
