Get the theme of the football season Katy! lol I'm fairly certain that the Tigers (Detroit baseball, if you didn't know) have adopted it as their anthem since Comerica Park plays it all the time now. Haha

Finally released in the UK. Should easily become another #1 for her here.

It was discussed multiple times in the Hot 100 thread just in the last few months. It takes time to get all the sales and streaming data, but they always use the fresh airplay numbers since they have access to it. Thats why it shocks me they dont have the weeks following the sales weeks...honestly. There is no reason not to. It all has to do with the history of the Hot 100. Sales and streaming haven't always been components, so it makes sense that the chart just followed whatever airplay week they decided on. It'd be too much of a hassle to switch the day the chart is compiled and published to match the sales and streaming data, plus it takes time for them to get the sales and streaming data. If they moved the chart to Monday, they still wouldn't have all of the sales and streaming data of the week in yet. Whereas airplay numbers are so much easier to get, and they want the most up-to-date chart as possible. That means a slight delay in sales and streaming, but up-to-the-day airplay numbers.

in the UK: 1 Katy Perry - Roar 1.00002 Ellie Goulding - Burn 0.4023Ellie had 3 weeks at #1 on iTunes/the single charts there, so it's not surprising that she was taken over. Speaking on behalf of the rest of the Gould Diggers I'm glad it was Katy - Ellie's tour buddy - that Ellie got to pass the torch on to. :)

Ellie sold around 80k in the UK last week I think. If she's holding somewhat steady, then Katy's sales are going to be colossal if her lead is already that big.

10th consecutive CHR Top 10? Slayty. And 12th non consecutive out of 13 singles. By the end of the era it will be 19/20 top 3's.

This may or may not have been discussed, but the initial callout scores for "Roar" look pretty good- only 17.4 negative, and 2.8 "heavy burn."

Go Katy. And this has only had one live performance. Question: does a songs video have some affect on it's radio airplay?

Theoretically speaking, a video can lead to more people asking radio to play a song more, but that's if the song or artist are relatively unknown. This is already doing fantastic, so I don't really know if there's any room for improvement on radio that the video will do.
I'm still amazed at how well this all seems to be playing out. Where Pink & Kelly stumbled, it appears that Katy is just sailing past.

Indirectly I think it does cause a video generally boosts sales and radio tends to pay attention in what sells so as they know what to play and what not. And yes, it happens to benefit unknown artists or songs that are just floating around without a big bullet. Roar doesn't even need a video at this point.

The biggest first week sales of 2013 currently belong to Avicii's Wake Me Up with 267,000 in the UK. Robin Thicke has just below 208k with BL. It'll be interesting to see where Katy lands.
