I just rediscovered a 2013 obsession: "Red Eye" by Kid Cudi f/ HAIM... which is basically all HAIM and one of their very best. It's crazy how what's old can feel new again after a few short years.

The whole album (aside from Right Now) is great! They've made a fan out of me.

On first listen, Found It In Silence is the one that immediately stood out to me and made me stop what I was doing. Overall, I like the whole CD and I can't wait to delve further into this.

The album isn't bad, but it's basically the same formula as their debut but not as strong a set of songs. There aren't any immediate standouts to me (in terms of songs that stand out in a good way or songs that stand out in a bad way). Their fans will be pleased, but they're definitely not breaking any new ground or winning over anyone who was on the fence.

I was surprised to find this on Apple Music already. Is it customary to release albums early on Apple Music now?? Anyway, excited to pick this up tomorrow. Doing a quick drive-by and everything sounds stellar. I love how all the vocals are so prominent.

Albums are available for streaming once they go live on iTunes which is usually 11pm EST. on Thursdays.

I was a bit disappointed with the first 3 buzz singles but glad to find out that the rest of the album is much better. I loved the "Faith" vibes on Ready For You. Nothing's Wrong and Found it Silence are instant favorites. I think i still prefer Days Are Gone but this is just first listen and it is promising.

It's still growing on me but HOLY, "You Never Knew" is pure Fleetwood Mac HEAVEN. When I found out that Dev Hynes produced it, I almost lost it. That guy is a f**king genius.

Spent an hour and a half of my work day (lunch plus an extra 30 minutes) traipsing around Manhattan Best Buy's looking for this CD to no avail. I'm guessing the label isn't expecting this to sell because even on the Best Buy websites, they warn that there are only a few copies and to order them for pickup or delivery. Even the stores that said they had them in stock didn't and they weren't even in the back storage room. Sigh. I hate when this happens on release day. I guess I will just order from Amazon and wait til Sunday to hear this in full.

The Upper East Side Best Buy had 2 copies left of this when I got there after work. I got so nervous because I didn't see it in the new release section where it should have been but fortunately, it was in the general section so maybe that's the only reason I was even able to get a copy LOL. Well, it's a stunner, folks. Right Now is still the centerpiece to me but Want You Back, Little Of Your Love, Ready For You, You Never Knew, and...Night So Long. Also, this is the best Danielle has ever sounded.
1. Right Now 2. Night So Long 3. Want You Back 4. Little Of Your Love 5. Ready For You 6. You Never Knew
I believe that's my order for now. Not a bad song in the lot...not even close but, if I had to go with ONE weak spot, it would be Walking Away. Rostam has always been a bit overindulgent when outside of Vampire Weekend, which reined in some of his stranger impulses. His work with Hamilton Leithauser was pretty good but even that I could only take in small doses. Anyway, the first HAIM CD had to grow on me and this will continue to reveal its beauty over time but, for now, a solid A- in my book.

Dev Hynes didn't produce it. He cowrote and plays guitar.

Dev Hynes didn't produce it. He cowrote and plays guitar. Oh my bad. I read a review that said he produced it. I can definitely hear his influence on that track melodically though.

Other than his production on All That by Queen Carly, as well as Losing You by Solange and Everything Is Embarrassing by Sky Ferreira, I am actually not the biggest Dev Hynes fan. The song he cowrote on HAIM's CD is their biggest Fleetwood Mac sounding song yet. It's cute.

I always find the music he does for other artists so much better than the stuff he puts out as Blood Orange. He can be very hit or miss. And monotonous. But when he gets it right, its so good.

This album is expertly produced. A clean, pleasant listen where all instruments can be heard, though not at the expense of the vocals. I am impressed.

There has been SO MUCH good music over the past couple of months, this album totally got back-burnered... sorry HAIM!
Anyways, this is great. I can't say the peaks quite hit DAG (nothing will ever touch "IICCYM," ugh, that song), but this is way more consistent and just a better album. The production on this is stellar, so damn crisp and clean. The vocals and harmonies are on point and mixed so flawlessly. They've never sounded better. And as a FM nut, some of these songs are giving me such strong TITN tease, I can't. I swear I thought Christine McVie was singing on "Nothing's Wrong" for a second. It's a shame this isn't getting the due it deserves.

I saw their LA show is sold out. I hope they'll announce a nationwide tour, because I noticed most of their concert dates have been festivals with the solo show here and there.

Heard the Bloodpop remix to "Little of Your Love" first, and I think I prefer that one. The original kind of doesn't do anything for me.
