Listing the obvious few from my head:
Everything But The Girl - "Missing (Todd Terry Remix)" Lana Del Rey - "Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix)" Kylie Minogue - "Love At First Sight (Ruff & Jam US Radio Remix)" Britney Spears - "(You Drive Me) Crazy [The Stop! Remix]" Duran Duran - "The Reflex (Nile Rodgers Remix)"
Both of J-Lo's Murder Inc. remixes for "I'm Real" and "Ain't It Funny".
Listing Whitney & Deborah Cox would be arguable since the original versions got heavy airplay on urban and rhythmic stations anyway.

^ If you're gonna go down that route, then 'What A Girl Wants' too, because that also had a re-recorded single version. I don't know if they strictly classify as remixes though, in the way that the thread intended; my understanding is it refers to dance/alternate remixes that feature the originally recorded vocal track which become the popular/hit version.
I'm not sure the J-Lo examples should count, because they were effectively completely different songs that only shared a title with the original songs. In this case, it wasn't the original versions that became hits because of the remixes, because the remixes weren't even the same songs - the 'remixes' (as songs in their own right) became hits regardless of the original versions.

Yeah i don't think JoLo "im real" and "ain't it funny" should count bc they were like totally new songs. I don't think Xtinas "come on over/what a girl wants, Britneys "drive me crazy" or Paulas "cold hearted/opposites attract should count either. Bc they were basically the same songs, just with a lil extra whatever.
I think the best example is that Debroah Cox song "nobodys supposed to be here" bc that is a REMIX and that's the one everyone knows.

What about those ones like DJ Sammy, Cascada, DHT where they have the EDM version that pop radio plays, and the piano ballad version which I think HAC, etc. stations played.

"Foolish Games" by Jewel. The album version is damn near unlistenable.

Absolutely. It was the Bayside Boys remix with the English language verses that was the hit version. There was the original album version and extended River-Fe remixes that existed before the Bayside Boys remix was produced.

I think "Ignition" and "More" are the two best examples, besides Lana's "Summertime Sadness"

Does the Batman & Robin soundtrack have the hit version of "Foolish Games"?

The Freshmen by the Verve Pipe had a remixed single version that was louder and more guitar driven. (Or maybe the other version was the remix.) Either way, I can't stand the "me-hee" version.

Does the Batman & Robin soundtrack have the hit version of "Foolish Games"? Yes, on her Greatest Hits album, Foolish Games is under the soundtrack not Pieces of You
