Murray Trial -- Jury Shouldn't Watch Nancy GraceLawyers for Conrad Murray told the trial judge they don't want Nancy Grace to pull a "Casey Anthony" on the jury -- so they asked the judge to prohibit jurors from watching her. Attorney Michael Flanagan argued that it was impractical to tell jurors they can't watch TV - because they simply will. So Flanagan asked Judge Michael Pastor to sequester the jury, O.J. style. The judge told Flanagan to file a motion and he'd consider it, although the judge did say he thought sequestering was both unnecessary and too expensive. Flanagan pressed his claim for outtakes from the "This Is It" rehearsals -- something Sony doesn't want to cough up. Sources tell us ... Flanagan wants the outtakes to show there were periods where Michael Jackson appeared to be on drugs. In a telling comment, Judge Pastor said, "This case is going to focus on the charge, not personal lifestyle." www.tmz.com/2011/07/20/conrad-murray-this-is-it-request-sitting-in-chair-kenny-ortega-tapes-evidence-sony-michael-jackson-hearing-prosecution-defense-manslaughter-trial-propofol-court-death-doctor/

Big Blow to Defense In MJ Manslaughter TrialThe judge in the Michael Jackson manslaughter trial just undercut a big part of the defense, by ruling 16 hours of rehearsal footage for the "This Is It" tour doesn't show MJ to be in poor health. Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers wanted the outtakes to prove Jackson was very ill in the days before his death. The argument goes -- he was already dying, so Dr. Murray can't be held responsible for his death. But Judge Michael Pastor ruled ... the outtakes were valuable to Sony Pictures -- which objected to turning over the footage -- and the video did not show MJ in poor health. If the hours of video show a healthy Michael, it undercuts a major line of defense for Murray. www.tmz.com/2011/07/25/doctor-conrad-murray-propofol-big-blow-to-defense-mj-michael-jackson-manslaughter-trial-this-is-it-tour-footage-rehearsal-sony-pictures/

Michael Jackson Tribute Concert Announced, Set For OctoberBEVERLY HILLS (CBS) — The mother and siblings of the late Michael Jackson announced plans Monday for a concert in England paying tribute to the King of Pop and raising money for several charities. The names of the performers expected to take part in the concert were not released, and they will remain a secret until Aug. 3, the day before tickets go on sale. KNX 1070′s John Brooks reports. “As I was told the name of some of the world-famous artists that would perform, I knew it would be a show fit for a king,” Jackson’s mother, Katherine, said at a news conference at The Beverly Hills Hotel. “And so, if my son was here today, he would feel the same way.” The Oct. 8 concert will be held at Millennium stadium in Cardiff, Wales, and is expected to be broadcast worldwide. The event will benefit multiple charities, including AIDS Project Los Angeles, according to organizers. “He is an entertainer that I feel that no one could ever stand up to or hold a candle to as far as his talent is concerned,” Jackson’s sister, La Toya, said. “With that said, I know that this tribute will be something that’s spectacular.” Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009, from an overdose of the prescription sedative propofol. His personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, and jury selection is expected to begin in early September. losangeles.cbslocal.com/2011/07/25/michael-jackson-tribute-concert-announced-set-for-october/

Lawsuit Accuses Doctor of Fueling MJ's AddictionDr. Arnold Klein provided serious drugs to Michael Jackson, which left the singer so out of it ... he couldn't even stand up straight ... this according to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ. In the lawsuit, filed by Klein's former assistant and confidant Jason Pfeiffer -- it is alleged "Throughout 2009, Michael was a frequent patient of Klein." The lawsuit continues, "Several times, Klein told Pfeiffer to help Michael down to the car because Michael was too drugged up and disoriented to stand on his own." Pfeiffer says he voiced his concern for Michael's "safety" -- because he and Klein's nurses "were worried that Michael was being 'overmedicated' by Klein." Pfeiffer says Klein simply told him to "keep his mouth shut." And there's more -- Pfeiffer claims Klein tried to sneak Michael prescription muscle relaxers in 2009 by writing a prescription in Pfeiffer's name. Pfeiffer claims he refused to participate in the scheme. Pfeiffer also claims in the suit ... sometime around October 2008, Klein was contacted by Michael Jackson, who told the doc he "needed 'to get out of a court appearance' and needed a doctor's note." According to the suit, Klein told Michael he would take care of it and issued a note saying MJ was suffering from a Staph Infection ... based on a fabricated test. Klein's treatment of MJ has been questioned in the past -- TMZ broke the story ... Klein injected Michael with 51 Demerol injections in the 3 months before Jackson died. Klein has always maintained that he treated Michael in accordance with the highest medical standards. Pfeiffer claims he was wrongfully terminated by Klein -- and in the suit, filed Wednesday in Klein's ongoing bankruptcy case, Pfeiffer alleges that Klein forced him to help round up gay sex partners for Klein, including prostitutes and homeless people. Pfeiffer also claims he would have to help "prepare" Klein for sexual encounters -- adding, "Klein required that Pfeiffer wash Klein's groin." Pfeiffer -- who has stated in the past that he was Michael Jackson's gay lover -- says he suffers from severe emotional problems as a result of Klein's treatment -- and is suing for unspecified damages. UPDATE: A lawyer for Klein tells TMZ, "Dr. Klein is one of the most esteemed and respected dermatologists in his profession in the country. This counterclaim is totally unfounded, and frankly it's garbage. The claims in Dr. Klein's lawsuit are very serious, and we're taking them all the way." www.tmz.com/2011/08/04/michael-jackson-dr-arnie-klein-lawsuit-medication-jason-pfeiffer-bankruptcy-prescription-drugs-addiction/

I can understand people wanting to get a little sumthin' sumthin' after dark but that is so fucking ridiculous. I can't at the groin washing.

KATHERINE JACKSON Courting MASSIVE Stars for MJ Tribute ShowMichael Jackson's mom has personally reached out to some of the biggest music stars in the world in the hopes of getting them to perform at the big MJ tribute show in October ... but only ONE of them is a definite YES ... TMZ has learned. Sources connected to the concert tell us ... Jay-Z, Kanye West, Cee Lo, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Usher and Bruno Mars have each received an invitation (pictured above) from Katherine Jackson ... asking them to perform 1 or 2 of their favorite MJ songs in Cardiff, Wales on Oct. 8. Katherine promises each star who signs on will be provided with "first class travel accommodations." We're told Chris Brown, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars have each respectfully declined the invite due to scheduling conflicts ... however, Christina and Kanye are leaning towards "Yes." As for the one person who's already signed on the dotted line -- sources tell us Cee Lo from Gnarls Barkley was quick to commit. Tickets to the event have not gone on sale yet -- but promoters say they will become available once a complete line-up is booked. www.tmz.com/2011/08/08/michael-jackson-tribute-concert-kanye-west-justin-bieber-usher-christina-aguilera-bruno-mars-cee-lo-jay-z/

CHRISTINA AGUILERA, LEONA LEWIS, & CEE LO TO PERFORM AT MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTEChristina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, and Cee Lo Green will honor Michael Jackson by taking part in a tribute concert in October. The singing superstars join Smokey Robinson, JLS, Alien Ant Farm, and Craig David as performers for “Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert,” promoters told CNN. The show, sanctioned by Michael’s mother Katherine Jackson, will take place on October 8 in Cardiff, Wales, with members of the Jackson family taking the stage including the King of Pop’s brothers and 3T, which consists of Tito Jackson’s three sons. Seventy-five thousand people are expected to attend the four-hour-plus concert at Wales Millennium Stadium. The singers have been asked to perform one or two of their favorite MJ songs. Fans can start registering their interest for tickets online beginning Thursday. A lottery will be held to determine who will be able to purchase tickets. More performers will be announced in the coming days. TMZ reported that Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Chris Brown all received invitations from Katherine Jackson, but their participation has not been confirmed. www.rap-up.com/2011/08/11/christina-aguilera-leona-lewis-cee-lo-to-perform-at-michael-jackson-tribute

MJ Tops Billboard VMA Poll Results
(25-8-2011) In addition to the recent MTV.com poll, Billboard.com also asked its readers to vote for the best MTV Video Music Awards performance of all time and now, their results are in!
Thousands of loyal Michael Jackson fans from all over the world let their voices be heard as they cast their votes for the King of Pop's 1995 10-minute medley of hits. Jackson's 1995 performance wasn't even on the ballot for Billboard's poll, but was instead a 'write-in' option. Jackson's 1988 performance of "Bad" and his brief appearance with 'N Sync in 2001 were both on the Billboard ballot.
Rounding out the rest of the list were:
Britney Spears' 2001 performance of "I'm a Slave 4 U"
Lady Gaga's 2009 performance of "Paparazzi"
Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera with their 2003 "Like a Virgin/Hollywood" performance
Bon Jovi's acoustic performance of "Livin' On a Prayer/Wanted Dead or Alive" from 1989.
Madonna's "Vogue" from 1990
Beyoncé with "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" from 2009
Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" from 2009
Eminem for his "The Real Slim Shady" in 2000
Rihanna from 2008 with "Disturbia/Seven Nation Army"
Polls are now closed for the MTV.com poll as well and their results will be announced before the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, which air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, August 28 at 9 PM on MTV so, don't forget to tune in!

Has there been any word on a new album of unreleased material? I thought the plan was to release a few of these?

I think they were supposed to be several planned but after the drama surrounding "Michael" I wonder if they'll release them. Plus if that was the best in the vault it may not even be worth it.
I thought there was supposed to be a deluxe re-issue of "Off The Wall" this year. I recall hearing that.

Yeah I think they expected the Michael album to be much bigger than it was, so I don't know if they're going to keep digging through the vaults.

Maybe an easier thing would be to try and get Michael's last single before he passed ("One More Chance" from the Number Ones collection) into the Top20?

Epic is releasing a set titled Immortal on November 21. I'm assuming it's somehow related to the Cirque du Soleil show.

Loving the tracklist! I can't wait to hear the mashups (similar to the Beatles LOVE) and it's fantastic the way that they worked songs from all of his eras into this production. (even Is It Scary!)
Minor quibble, I was hoping to see Stranger In Moscow get a little love because I was thinking that Cirque would have done something beautiful for it, but I absolutely cannot wait to hear this soundtrack!

Ok, dumb question, but I don't have Beatles 'Love'...it is MJ's vocals, correct? It's not instrumentals or someone else covering his songs right?

A photo of Michael's corpse was shown at the trial today and has since leaked to the internet. The fact that the media showed the photo pissed me off to no end. I really did not ever want to see him on his death bed, never mind seeing him on a gurney. Completely tasteless.

Anyway, it looks like Murray is really screwed now that the coroner testified. He said it would have basically been impossible for Michael to give himself the fatal dose of Propofol and thinks Murray gave him several doses over the course of the day before it built up in his system and reached lethal levels.

Teaser megamix of some of the reworked versions of the song from the upcoming Immortal album. Some of them sound very similar to the original. Per the promoter, there may be some new club remixes commissioned for some of Michael's back catalogue to promote the project. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WnSFDK_H470#!

I'm surprised his label didn't throw out another "unreleased" album for the holiday shopping season.

CONRAD MURRAY IS GUILTY OF INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER! JUSTICE PREVAILS. Too bad his maximum sentence is only 4 years. But he loses his license. GOOD!
