DAMN at MGMT. Wasn't expecting anything huge but I thought 30-40k would be reasonable.

Don't tell me HITS is going to throw shade at Soundscan every week now. Their jokes against whatever pot scandal was happening at UMG over the summer have long run out, so I'm sure they're thrilled to have new material that they can drag out for the next few months.

How Jack Johnson has ever sold platinum is sort of a miracle.

Good numbers for Avicii, especially given his genre. Jack Johnson's numbers are good too, his act has grown stale for the masses by this point but he still has a good core audience.
Not surprised about MGMT, they completely fell off all radars with their last album.

Jack Johnson is not a pop artist and doesn't have singles but all his albums have done well. This one will too. He may be 'stale for the masses' but, but the 'masses' I think we are talking about were not his audience to begin with

YOUR TOP 15 (WITH BONUS MATERIAL): Next week's Top 5 will be populated entirely by debuts. And hot on the heels of Keith Urban’s #1 this week, Capitol Nashville scores three in next week's Top 10, news that causes Mike Dungan to opine, “Eeeeee doggies!” Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
*Jack Johnson (Brushfire/Republic) 115-120k *Justin Moore (Big Machine) 100-105k *Chris Young (RCA Nashville) 55-60k *MMG Presents: Self Made, Vol. 3 (Atlantic) 50-55k *Avicii (PRMD/Island/IDJ) 45-50k Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 40-45k Keith Urban (Capitol Nashville) 35-40k The Weeknd (XO/Republic) 30-35k *Billy Currington (Capitol Nashville) 27-30k 2 Chainz (Def Jam/IDJ) 21-24k Tamar Braxton (Epic) 19-21k *Grouplove (Atlantic) 18-21k John Legend (Columbia) 18-21k *Devil Wears Prada (Roadrunner) 18-21k Robin Thicke (Star Trak/Interscope) 18-21k Ariana Grande (Republic) 17-20k Sheryl Crow (Warner Bros. Nashville) 17-20k
*Debuts
In other music news, new arrivals at the UMPG dispensary include SoundScan Kush, which'll get you so wasted you won't be able to count. (9/19p)

Keith Urban and Luke Bryan are Capitol artists but Billy Currington is on Mercury Nashville, not Capitol.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/5719315/jack-johnson-set-for-no-1-on-billboard-200-avicii-and-chrisJack Johnson Set for No. 1 on Billboard 200, Avicii and Chris Young for Top 10 By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | September 20, 2013 8:07 PM EDT EDM star Avicii could notch the genre's highest debut for a first solo album with "True." Singer/songwriter Jack Johnson is on course for his fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, while EDM superstar Avicii is aiming for a top 10 debut with his first album, "True." Industry sources suggest the former's "From Here to Now to You" may sell around 110,000 to 115,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Sept. 22. DJ/producer Avicii's debut studio album, "True," may shift around 45,000 to 50,000 and bow at No. 5. If Avicii's album performs as expected, he will earn the highest debut for a solo EDM act's first studio album in the SoundScan era (1991-present). Next week's top 10 -- which will be revealed on Wednesday, Sept. 25 -- should also include three debuting sets from male country singers. Justin Moore's third full-length album, "Off the Beaten Path," seems destined for a No. 2 arrival behind Johnson. Moore may sell around 105,000 -- notching the singer's best week ever and highest-charting album. His previous chart and sales high was logged with 2011's "Outlaws Like Me," which debuted and peaked at No. 5 with a start of 65,000 (according to Nielsen SoundScan). Aside from the five previously mentioned new arrivals, there will be one more new set starting in the top 10: the "Maybach Music Group Presents: Self Made, Vol. 3" compilation. The various-artists effort -- which features contributions from Meek Mill, Wale, Rick Ross and others -- might sell around 45,000 to 50,000. On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Johnson and Moore are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. As for the rest of the top 10: the "Self Made, Vol. 3" album is No. 3, while Avicii sits at No. 4. Young's "A.M." is No. 5, while Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" and Keith Urban's "Fuse" are Nos. 6 and 7. Currington is No. 8, while the Weeknd's "Kiss Land" sits at No. 9. Closing out the top 10 is 2 Chainz's "B.O.A.T.S. II #METIME." NIELSEN SOUNDSCAN BUILDING CHART Rank LW BB 200 Artist Title 1 NEW Jack Johnson "From Here to Now to You" 2 NEW Justin Moore "Off the Beaten Path" 3 NEW Various Artists "Maybach Music Group Presents: Self Made, Vol. 3" 4 NEW Avicii "True" 5 NEW Chris Young "A.M." 6 4 Luke Bryan "Crash My Party" 7 1 Keith Urban "Fuse" 8 NEW Billy Currington "We Are Tonight" 9 2 The Weeknd "Kiss Land" 10 3 2 Chainz "B.O.A.T.S. II #METIME" The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.

Cher has a lot of promo this week, including the "Today" show, David Letterman, and Live with Kelly & Michael. I'm hoping she sells around 75K.
