Haven't finished yet but I'm digging the album. In Time is my favorite favorite thus far but I haven't really disliked anything I've heard. It's nice that he's shown his range of doing everything from polished to now lo-fi indie pop. Hopefully, he can get a proper record deal again in the future and record a nice album that comfortably sits between the two.
So I bought a ticket to his StageIt show last night and whew, what an adventure!
He & Cale started performing on time, but unfortunately there was NO SOUND for like the first 7 minutes. It wasn't until Kris went to check the screen that he saw the messages and they preceded to try and fix it (w/StageIt on the phone, etc) for the next 20 or so minutes. It was a 30 mins show, but once things were finally fixed, they actually restarted their set and went over (in "encore" mode) to do 10-11 songs plus a Q&A. Fun times, and I'm glad the fans were friendly and patient. In addition, Kris & Cale were pretty darn cute at times (This is sponsored by...CAPRI SUN!).
I actually recorded them singing "Sorry There's No Sound" when things finally got working, up to when the sound got cut off when they finished the song:
Additionally, it looks like someone's posted the whole set on YT:
Not included in the predictions for next week, which means he may debut with less than 9k; Caleb Johnson, winner of AI last season, is projected to debut with 9-11k. Who would've thought two AI winners releasing albums on the same day would debut so poorly?
Kris Allen debuted at #11 with 80k (346k to date).
Thank You Camellia debuted at #26 with 17k (39k to date).

So many mid-tempos...
Not sure what to think of this album. I like "Lost," "Don't Set Me Free," and "Parachute." The rest of the album just blends. Definitely not Thank You Camellia where I liked nearly every track on the album.
I really like this album. I really liked his last one, too, and I liked his debut. They have differences, obviously, but I like the fact that Kris never makes the same album twice. I like the understated production here. I love "Young Love," "In Time," "Lost," "Don't Set Me Free," "Everybody Just Wants To Dance," and "Parachute" - and I like the rest. The album may not have been what people wanted, or perhaps not what people expected, but it's hard to deny that it's good.

Well, not surprising at all for Kris #indieproblems, but I do hope he at least breaks 5k. That seems reasonable to expect. Caleb's situation is a real shame though, it's unfortunate to see winners being mishandled and flopping right out the gate.

So probably this time the total won't even hit 20k. I wonder how they make even, unless they really go indie, record it in their bedroom or sth.

Well in Kris' case, he seems to do enough gigs and private events that he makes some extra money that way. He does all his own writing, with only a few collaborators, so he doesn't have to share with a lot of people. And he's a very lowkey person; he doesn't really come off as one who 'needs' a ton of money to fund a big-budget lifestyle. I assume he's doing all right in the end because he and his family just sold their house in AR to move to Nashville.

I'm loving this album. Of course, you can tell it had to be made on a budget, unlike the previous two, but I wasn't worried buying it because I know he's a very good songwriter and his voice is beautiful. "Prove It to You," "Lost," and "Parachute" are my favorites.

Thanks! I knew we'd get the bonus tracks somehow. What was the other one besides "Unique"?

1) Kris continues on his tour with Boyce Avenue through November 22. The tour seems to be going well, drawing good-sized crowds. You can find the remaining tour dates with Boyce Avenue, along with some headlining dates in Florida and Georgia in January/February 2015, on his official website (Krisallenofficial.com). He has posted some photos and videos from the current tour on his instagram (instagram.com/kris_allen)
2) He has recorded an original holiday song, which he says should be released sometime around Thanksgiving
3) Last night, "Lost" (which is one of my favorite songs off Horizons), was used on the tv show "Arrow". It was in a scene at the very end of the show.
4) Meanwhile, he was in the DC area today doing a taping for a Veterans' Day special that will air on Maryland Public TV (and possibly other PBS stations). It will also be live streamed.
