Not feeling this song. Although I'm not a big Lady A fan, I did like Run To You, American Honey.
But so far I don't feel like they are getting any momentum back after the last album-with the run of the mill Goodbye Town lead. I don't dislike loud chorus on principle (I love the Keith/Miranda duet) but this is annoyingly loud to me and I don't see it bringing them back into the top tier.

I like this song, but they need to realize they should have more songs that are Charles-centric and less Hilary-led songs. That is one of the major missteps in their last few albums.

I haven't liked most of what they've released in the past, but I love this!

I really like this song, but I disagree that there should be more Charles centric songs and less Hillary cause when you look at songs where either he or she takes the lead ,the songs she sings lead on actual chart and sale better. Just using this album Hillary led Downtown #1 and did go platinum. Goodbye Town was Charles lead, #11 and I'm not sure it sold 150,000 digital copies. You can also look at American Honey #1 and platinum vs Hello World #6 and not sure exact sale on it but I know not Gold.

I'm not sure why but her lead songs do better. Charles has a great voice and many probably disagree with me, but there is something about Hillary's voice and Hillary as a person that I just enjoy more.

Anyone else bullish that this will get a crossover push early next year after peaking here? Take out the bluegrass instrumentals and you end up with a hand-clapping, drum-stomping song that sounds like a good fit for at least HAC radio. If I remember correctly, "Need You Now" is still their only real hit there (I don't recall where "Just A Kiss" peaked, but I think it did OK too); I feel like this could be next.
Meanwhile, still disappointed that The Band Perry didn't get the pop push originally scheduled back in April...not sure why that never came to fruition.

If this does well at country, I could see a HotAC crossover happening. I think "I Run To You" out peaked "Just A Kiss" at HotAC, but I don't remember how high it got.

I don't know if they'll try crossover for it. I think they might wait and see how this song charts and sales. Goodbye Town had such horrible sales and peaked at #11 on charts. Compass highest peak on itunes so far is #20

It is the EXACT reason why this song's release makes so much sense. The lyrics are very good and fit the whole pop "strong lyric" point that I've noticed on the uptempo and pop/dance songs from DJs (Avicii's "Wake Me Up" is a prime example). I don't know if they'll try crossover for it. I think they might wait and see how this song charts and sales. Goodbye Town had such horrible sales and peaked at #11 on charts. Compass highest peak on itunes so far is #20 It was a sneaky sales release. It WILL sell strongly. It's too good a song and too universal both melodically and lyrically not to.

And I don't think this was a sneaky sales release. They are trying to get a boost in sales for Golden. The album has been struggling, and I saw where after Goodbye Town did so poorly, the label didn't feel any other songs on Golden would do well, so they recorded this one to release and repackage the album Golden Deluxe, with 6 songs added, 3 new ones...Compass, And The Radio Played and Life As We Know It. The other 3 are old releases of itunes NYN, I Run To You and Acoustic JAK. I hope the single does well for them cause they need it too.

It was just put out there. It was in someways by surprise.

Lady Antebellum debuts at #34 with “Compass” selling 10k tracks. From Roughstock. For comparison, since in the Golden era, Downtown sold 72k tracks in its debut, and Goodbye Town sold 6,000 tracks in its debut. So a little better than GT but not near what Downtown did. Hopefully sales will improve.

I posted this in the Country News Thread. But the fall tour has been postponed and is being rescheduled for next year. They are claiming it's to accommodate this single just being released and for them to be able to provide the best show possible for the fans. source

I absolutely love this. The chorus is kinda cheesy, but in a good way.

I enjoy hearing this one more and more. It appears to be selling decent as well. I think this will provide enough momentum to get another single release off of Golden.

I hope this doesn't go Number 1. It's bland and boring. They need to leave Hilary on vocals because those singles are fun and lively. Anything the guy sings is just dull and boring, like this We Own the Night, and Hell World. I'd personally love to hear this "Hell World" song! It sounds like it'd be lively to say the least. (I agree that I tend to prefer Hilary on lead btw.)

It has so much more energy than usual for them, and the radically different production really makes it stand out. I also like the almost Celtic vibe it has.

It's an awesome song, you gotta hear it! ;) I have never bought a Lady Antebellum album, and never will, but does the albums typically have for Hilary or the guy on lead? Or is it equal. I'm kind of curious about that.

Songs off Golden/Golden Deluxe I'd say ......
Get To Me, Downtown, It Ain't Pretty, Long Teenage Goodbye - Hillary Lead
Goodbye Town, Better Off Now That You're Gone, Golden, Better Man - Charles Lead
Nothing Like The First Time, Can't Stand The Rain, All For Love, Generation Away, JAK, NYN, I Run To You, Compass, And The Radio Played, Life As We Know It - Co-Lead
I usually prefer songs where Hillary is lead, and looking at chart history, her leads chart and sell better than ones where Charles is lead.

I vastly prefer Charles' voice to Hilary's. Her voice usually strikes me as so bland and colorless. There's some good songs in the Lady A catalog with her on lead, but I tend to feel like excel best when they are acting like a duo.
