The cat’s out of the perfume bottle. We all know that Britney Jean Spears‘ upcoming Britney Jean maybe-single “Perfume” was penned by this week’s Billboard cover star, Sia. But there’s a second writer on the track — none other than Chris Braide, the talented songwriter and producer known for his work on Lana Del Rey‘s Born To Die (“Million Dollar Man”), as well as dozens of Brit-pop acts like Diana Vickers, The Saturdays and Pixie Lott. I spoke with Chris about three years ago (time goes by…not so slowly), and we nerded out about all things pop — as one does. This week, I checked in again with Chris about his work with the Holy Spearit, and he was nice enough to provide MuuMuse with a lil’ tidbit about producing Brit Brit’s Spearitual vocals on “Perfume.” "When I was producing her vocals, it was obvious to me why she’s still one of the greatest pop stars ever. Unmistakably Britney, effortlessly iconic."And there you have it, direct from the “Perfume” co-writer himself. Are you ready for what’s next? www.muumuse.com/2013/10/chris-braide-britney-spears-perfume-effortlessly-iconic-exclusive.html/Crying! :'( :'( :'( Get ready ya'll.

I'm not sure if this is the best move after WB flopping (minus the fans of course). Maybe they should really consider a Dr.Luke track (of course they would have to record one first); he is still making hits. She needs at least 2 good hits off this album otherwise I'm getting MC vibes post comeback. Sounds like this album will be more about the fans and hopefully ahead of its time like Blackout.

This is the opposite of what I want. To hell with the hits, give me Blackoutney! Of course, there is no reason why we can't have an introspective record that is also full of hits a la ITZ.

Yeah she needs to show everyone that she can still sing and not continue to put out FF-type disposable songs.

Femme Fatale was a bad album. TTWE is one of her best songs and IWG is catchy enough, the problem is her lack of connectivity and her failure to perform or perform at a quality level. Regardless of how this era performs I think the only way she will be able to bring back some fans is for that conservatorship to end, give some real interviews without rules and talk about her troubled past, Not many people care now but just a good sit down interview would help.
And how about hiring Derek Hough and Mark Ballas for six weeks of a rehearsed choreography for a triumphant return to the VMA's,

If Gaga got Applause to become a hit after a lot of work, Work Bitch could have easily been a bigger hit IMO. Sometimes you don't have to do much for a song to be a hit, but it has to be really immediate. Work Bitch is not the best piece of work or the most radio-friendly song ever, but I'm sure that if Brit had worked some, it would have been a top 5 hit. The 2nd single better be a lot more commercial than this, otherwise I see this era being a fail.

Perfume is a week away and I am so anxious. I've been playing these Britney songs in preparation for Nov. 5th.

Yup in one week we'll all officially have this purchased and put it on repeat. I can't waitttttttt! :'( Definitely the most anticipation I've ever felt for one of her second singles. I really think it'll be something very special.

The only thing that ever held Applause back was those lyrics. I still say it would have been an instant smash with relatable lyrics, cause the song itself is uber catchy and radio friendly. The general public just needed time to warm up to all the "suddenly the Koons is me" lyrical stuff. Whereas WB was inherently not radio friendly, regardless of lyrics.

It's more so the fact that Work Bitch wasn't the right choice for the first single. Simple as that. Promotion plays a part in it to some degree too. I'm sure the song would of been helped at least digitally had she performed but it's not the #1 reason for the songs under performance. Simply the wrong song at the wrong time! I still love it though.

And let's not say Work Bitch is OMG-so-radio-unfriendly, because it isn't.

I just said I think it was more about the song itself rather than the lack of promotion. I could see it possibly hitting the top 10 with promo but probably not further than that. It's definitely her least radio friendly first single in recent times though if you ask me. It's not as instant as most of her other singles and structurally it's out there along with the fact that it's full-on EDM. I think you need to hear it quite a few times to really love it.

If this song does well it might be the perfect chance for her to return to late night TV performances. No pressure to dance like her heyday, they can use it to sell the album and she'd gain some more confidence with TV performing again.
It's a no brainer really.

That might have been the plan from the beginning. Release WB as a 'headline-giver' single without much promotion, then unleash an 'easier' song to perform + actual, beneficial and 'she can still sing' promotion.

Well maybe top 20 hit will have to suffice knowing will produced it. Britney is not promoting with live performances and these will tracks are not working with the GP. Oh well. Guess the album is for the real fans.
