After reaching the top ten on Urban AC and top forty on AC, plus an inkling of a push to HAC, this is now listed under Cool New Music for pop as well.

I would expect this to do...nothing here. The piano in this makes me think of "This is What it Feels Like" without the dance production for some reason.

Prepare to hear this at every wedding. I'd say it's a future hit.

This is close to top 30 on rhythmic and Hot AC now. I'd be surprised if it doesn't at least crack top 40 on pop. And I'm sure it'll keep doing well on iTunes with Valentine's Day coming up.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't at least crack top 40 on pop. Don't be. It would be only his second time doing so, after 2009's "Green Light" (#20).

If "Stay" and "When I Was Your Man" smashed on CHR, this can smash, too. It's a great song, it should become a hit on this format.

Yeah, I'm pretty confident for this one to do well especially after the GRAMMYs.

I hope this does really well as it's a terrific romantic song. I have it on my Valentines playlist already.

This is a very pretty song, but it seems really slow for CHR. It would totally kill the momentum of a radio set list. Has "Made to Love" been released to CHR? That's the most hitworthy-track on the album, IMO.

That's the most hitworthy-track on the album, IMO. I'm no radio programmer, but what I've read before is that a few ballads in the playlist are a nice way to even out a bunch of uptempos - plus, slow tempos didn't hurt "Stay," "When I Was Your Man," and "Just Give Me A Reason" from doing well last winter/spring. This is the first single from Love In The Future to get a pop push; I agree that "Made To Love" would have been a good choice to push as well.

I would normally say that this feels a little slower than your typical CHR ballad (unlike Just Give Me a Reason, for example, it doesn't have any kind of beat), but Stay is a good counter-example. I thought that one was a little too slow for CHR as well, and it certainly did well. Of course, it also had Rihanna attached to it.
I really like John Legend, although he has never matched the quality of Get Lifted, in my opinion.

"Made To Love" wasn't released to Urban/Urban AC either. He just released a video for it without a radio push.
This is honestly one of my least favorite singles he's ever released. Too sappy.

The thing I'm leery about on the Man/Stay/Reason comparisons is, those had known hitmakers attached to them, whereas John Legend and Pop have never really gone together. Unless he turns in an epic Grammy performance and the general public responds accordingly (and even that, possibly, might still not be enough), I'm not sure that a lot of Pop programmers will take the risk and go for this.

I think there's a few things going for this song... it's been hanging around the top 50 on iTunes for a few months now and that's without significant airplay and airplay keeps building on several formats. If it was just Rhythmic and Urban I could see pop ignoring the song (especially to your point since John's only cracked the top 40 once). But with Hot AC on board too, if it becomes a hit on all of those formats I can't see pop completely ignoring it.

The song is... okayyyyyyy... It's different from the other ballads that smashed the previous year, as it kinda got my mind to thinking it was more uptempo then transforming into the typical ballad. (And I just screamed "Nooooooooo!" in my head.) If it can do well during Valentine's Day and gain some promo (I suggest performances plus have the song featured on The Bachelor), then it does have a possibility of doing something on Pop. Plus: I would expect this to do...nothing here. The piano in this makes me think of "This is What it Feels Like" without the dance production for some reason. Maybe that's the end of the chorus speaking. But I do agree that it's a mix of that, "Let It Go", and "Let Her Go".

It's sad that they did nothing with "Made To Love" - huge crossover potential if you ask me -, but I'm all for this now. I can't wait for Valentine's Day haha. :)
