I'm really surprised she went home empty handed last night.

I loved the fact that her goal in this performance wasn't to sing the song perfectly, but to get her message across as powerfully and loudly as possible. Mission accomplished and she had me in tears. SO annoyed she didn't win (ps -- did anyone else hear some boos when Ed won?)

SO annoyed she didn't win (ps -- did anyone else hear some boos when Ed won?) I agree that Kesha should have won, but what exactly would have been lost had she sung well? Singing well doesn't mean you can't show emotion--in fact, that's what normally draws people into singers, whether they're technically proficient or not. I don't think this was a conscious choice on her part--I think it was probably just such a big, emotional, triumphant, scary moment coupled with a song that is frankly too big for her voice and always has been, therefore yielding a performance that was powerful and inspirational but vocally pretty poor. ...but it is a great song, and it should have been recognized as such, even without the #metoo momentum.

That may have been her worst performance of Praying vocally, but I understand why given the circumstances.

I was shocked at the poor vocal. I hyped it up to all my friends that have written her off, and nobody was impressed. I don’t think she garnered any new fans from it, which was what I was hoping given the platform.
The song stands phenomenal, love the album, ready for Woman to dominate and hopefully checking out her tour with Macklemore.

She's been really consistent with the "Praying" performances too IMO. It's a shame she cracked at the biggest venue she's performed it at. This and the Ellen performances are really the only two that she just didn't deliver for me. It was still a powerful performance overall and clearly it's one of the more impactful of the night, but I wish she had sang the song better.
Also, she was f**king robbed.

She is just not a very good vocalist but I enjoyed her performance nonetheless.

I don't mean that she intended to give a bad vocal performance -- just that it was clear she gave in to her emotions/nervousness/passion etc in lieu of trying to make sure each note was perfect. And I wasn't trying to start any drama by saying I heard some boos -- I genuinely thought the audience reacted very oddly to Ed winning and was wondering if anyone else thought the same thing.

I feel like having all those other singers up there with her was a little extra and unnecessary. The choir would have been just fine. The song had more punch emotionally during the tour with just her in a single spotlight.

It is so f**ked up to see people come for her at that performance. She was in front of the GRAMMYs audience, 20 million viewers, after everything she went through. Anyone who criticizes it can f**k off, frankly. That must've been incredibly hard for her to get up and do.

All the circumstances you said only made the performance forgivable, not less disappointing.

I haven't really been going out of my way to find post-show reactions myself though, and what I have seen has mostly been the usual complaint about the winners/non-winners. I will say that watching the performance live, I was entirely taken in by it. then the next day when media were just playing little ten second snippets from the performance I realized 'oh dang, that sounds kind of off.' So it's a bit frustrating because someone who watched the performance in full is not likely to dock points for her emotion, but someone who missed the show has no context and will probably just conclude "whatevs, Kesha sux" and be cavalier about it.

I was just watching this week’s Grey’s Anatomy and what came on but Praying!! They played it at the end of the episode during a very emotional part. Almost the entire song was used - they skipped the second chorus and bridge

For no real reason at all other than sheer boredom, here's how many plays (and the % increase) each Rainbow track has received over the past two days on Spotify:

I don't like the sound she is going for. The country fused pop is just not what I want from her.
I need some Die Young, Blow, We R Who We R bangers and some Harold Song, Praying slower songs.

She reimagined Janis Joplin’s I Need a Man to Love on a MGM-curated EP of “wedding songs” for same sex couples.

Just chiming in to say the following lyrics are still perfection:
"Rainbow" - I know I'm still f**ked up. But aren't we all, my love?
"Let 'Em Talk" - Do whatever makes you happy. And screw everything else, if you ask me.
