I feel like she's not getting a second single. It's about a month overdue. Maybe because Praying is still going? It's nearly Top 10 at Pop radio and still chugging along. That, coupled with Good Old Days moving up, it makes no sense to push a 2nd single right now.

That, coupled with Good Old Days moving up, it makes no sense to push a 2nd single right now. Completely disagree. Praying has done its job. It's lingering outside the top 10 for weeks. She has no promo lined up, and it's not like it will suddenly surge into the Top 5. It's time for a new single. Good Old Days will do as much for her as Feels did for Katy. It won't garner interest in their own respective projects. It makes complete sense to be setting up a second single right now.

I'm still extremely wary of how much effort RCA is really going to put into the rest of this era, and no more singles is definitely possible. Or, a second single thrown out months later (like early 2018) only to see it buried by fresher releases. But I do think that (for now) there are ostensibly logical reasons for not releasing another single yet. Kesha/RCA could be aiming for chart longevity more than chart peak, in which case they may not want to risk prematurely cutting into Praying's run with second single promo. I also wouldn't be surprised if they're sort of one-track minding their way about it and have been so focused on P!nk's album launch that they haven't thought about Kesha lately, and since Praying hasn't crashed yet there really hasn't been reason to worry.
Good Old Days won't directly help her own project but it still has its own purpose to serve. Assuming it becomes a hit, that points to listeners liking Kesha's voice on the radio, and will hopefully make PDs more inclined to give single #2 immediate adds when it does arrive. (This didn't work for Katy b/c she'd already burned through her three singles by the time Feels came out.)

I will say that releasing another album next year wouldn't be the worst idea if the no single route ends up happening. Praying is a hit, but it's not the type of hit that would warrant a 7 month gap between singes (it had a steady decline on streaming, but all that time has added up and it actually just slipped out of the top 100 on Spotify). They could use the Macklemore collaboration as a placeholder.

I think you guys have it wrong. A lot of albums that stand the test of time, and really CONNECT with the public, are ones that have slow burn singles and really long -- but not necessarily high -- chart runs.
I can't believe it's not reached top 20 on the Hot 100, but there's zero reason to cut into Praying right now. That's an absolute career highlight -- critically and commercially. Songs like that get all the running time they can muster.

I can't believe it's not reached top 20 on the Hot 100, but there's zero reason to cut into Praying right now. That's an absolute career highlight -- critically and commercially. Songs like that get all the running time they can muster. Two different strategies. Both have their logic. If I was the project exec, I would make the decision to cut the cord before the freeze. It's been out for this long, and if it hasn't happened yet (happened referring to chart placement only), it's not going to happen. I've seen it with countless songs. I really think there's sabotage going on, but in a defensible way that couldn't be proved in front of a judge such as: releasing Praying, and then the album a couple weeks later/ not giving a proper pre-album promotional push. Almost like they were just getting the release over with. She had the #1 album in the country, yet didn't get any high profile performances of a single. She got to announce an award. It just doesn't add up.

The song IS happening though. That's the point. Listeners like it, and people are buying the song and buying the album.
Restarts take time to nurture.
And of course she had an album campaign. The strategy behind it indicates they WEREN'T EXPECTING Praying to be as successful as it has been.

Yeah, I don't see what else they can do at this point. They're staying out of "Praying"s way, it's just one of those slow burning hits that takes a while to peak. The song is still rising at multiple formats and is still selling well. I imagine it will finally peak and start falling in November and they'll send a new single in January after all the freeze mess is over. If the Macklemore song keeps moving up the charts, it'll be a nice placeholder to keep her voice at radio through the holidays.
As for promo, she gave "Praying" plenty of it. The only opportunity really missed was the VMAs, which was stupid, but you can't say she hasn't been out promoting this album. And let's not forget she's been on tour for the past month. I do hope she does SNL at some point though.

What sort of budget/heft does her label have to promote? I don't know her current label situation.

If it can hold steady and gain a little bit more over the next month, Praying will get a big signal boost when it is nominated for SOTY and/or ROTY. It is absolutely a dream scenario for a pivoting artist who has been on a very long and very publicly contentious hiatus, who is also following up an album whose singles underperformed her previous work. It's an absolutely amazing song that is even bigger live.
HOWEVER, I feel personally attacked that two days after her Chicago show, she tweeted about adding Boots to the setlist!!!

She added Boots to the setlist?! Yay! She added Hunt You Down as well I know, in sort of a mash-up with Timber.
I'm so fucking stoked to see her tonight!

Also, maybe they're holding off on releasing a second single to keep the general focus on Praying while they're vying for Grammy nominations.

She needs to release a 2nd single NOW, whichever it is! I need to here more Kesha on the radios and playlists. This album is too great to only have one single.

We might get a single announcement or confirmation next month, but there is no point in doing it now unless Praying enters freefall. The quarter is crowded and the freeze is going to halt any momentum a slow climber like her second single may have, when she could have a song in just as solid of a solid position in 2018 when she is performing at the Grammys and accepting her award(s).

Last night was fucking incredible. Tears were shed, amazing times were had, laughs were shared, it was truly an amazing experience.
I was lucky enough to get at least clips of every performance (and I believe I recorded full performances of Woman, Praying, TiK ToK, Hymn, and Bastards). I'm gonna get all of the videos I recorded edited together to create a supercut video of the night.

They've heard the song, most like it. The song has done its job, I stand by that. Holding onto a song for a peak a couple spots higher is how you kill an era.

Gurl, it just entered the Top 10 at Pop radio. It hasn't "done its job" yet. The GP doesn't care about charts. They've heard the song, most like it. The song has done its job, I stand by that. Holding onto a song for a peak a couple spots higher is how you kill an era. It really isn't... If the song is increasing in airplay, that means more and more people are hearing it every week. It's still reaching a bigger audience, which therefore increases the spectrum of people interested in hearing a different song from the same project. It's not like interest is fanning either. "Praying" is still #22 on iTunes, roughly where it's been the entire run, and #106 on Spotify. The album is #48 on the Billboard 200 and #75 on Top Album Sales. Interest in the song and project as a whole are very much still there. Honestly, I think the best plan of action would be to perform this on the AMAs for one last hurrah, let it run through the holidays with a discount during the Christmas sales rush and an album discount in stores for Black Friday/Christmas season, and kick off the second single immediately in January with a New Year's performance, People's Choice Award performance (or video premiere?), and a Grammy performance. Add it to Today's Top Hits playlist the day it goes for radio ads as well, probably the second week of January. Let's not forget that the track with Macklemore is starting to take off as well, which will keep her name in the public eye if "Praying" suddenly begins freefalling. It's funny. I think the only reason people are freaking out here is because "Praying" is having a chart run similar to hits from the 2000s. Nowadays, songs race up the chart quickly and die quickly, as do albums. "Praying" isn't doing that, and the album is also holding steady thanks to it. "Praying" isn't dead, it's spreading itself over time, which is what hits used to do. As long as its total points keeps steady or increases over a long period of time, it's not dying and is actually doing better and better, not reaching a new peak from a performance/video release/discount late into the song's run like we're used to happening. It's still going and hasn't maximized its full potential yet. I'm gonna get all of the videos I recorded edited together to create a supercut video of the night. Working on this now. Everything totaled up to just under one hour of video! It's going to take like ~2 hours to export the supercut video and then another ~2 hours to upload it to YouTube or something, but it's well worth it!

I’m hoping that by her announcing that she’s adding Boots so late in the tour that it means that there will be a 2nd leg. And that Boots is going to be single #2. A 2nd leg to promote the 2nd single!!
