it's pretty crazy to me that as of this week, #1 Uptown Funk has ONE MILLION more points than #14 Bad Blood. And UF has a huge 33% lead over TOL at #2.

I'm a little disappointed in the performance of Downtown - specifically at radio. I personally think its a great song... fresh and different, contemporary yet old school, a brave juxtaposition of genres that all meld together to make something that sounds so epic... yet it's down on everyone's level. relatable. silly. and still very Macklemore. I know not everyone likes it, but if anything it's a grower and deserves airtime.
It's at a point where pop radio could start dropping it any day now despite consistent top 10 sales, or it could start going into power rotation and make big moves. The former seems more likely than the latter given the sudden fate of Marvin Gaye at radio despite it doing well on iTunes. I hope I'm wrong. I know there are reasons/politics/etc that inform pop radio's adding/dropping of songs, but it can look so ridiculous to a chart watcher.
Anyway, Downtown is doing well on iTunes given radio's lackluster reception to M & RL's big return. It'll have enough points to make the top 100 of the year, but coulda/shoulda already been there, gunning for top 50.

According to my estimates, The Hills needs to average 32,500 points a week for the rest of the year to get ahead of LMLYD.
It scored nearly 44,000 this week. So... will it or will it not? Place your bets!

Similar is happening rn to Love Myself (speaking of which, do you think it will make the top 100?)

It's current weekly points x6 aren't enough. So it needs to continue to have decent/significant growth to have a shot. I'd bet against it at this point. Radio is unpredictable for it at the moment, so I think we'll have a better idea in a week or so where this one is headed.

WILL FOR SURE FALL OFF THE HOT 100 NEXT WEEK:
Kick The Dust Up - Luke Bryan (20 weeks, would need a bullet)
WILL PROBABLY FALL OFF:
Ghost Town - Adam Lambert (16 weeks, #91) Worth It - Fifth Harmony (33 weeks, #47)
COULD FALL OFF:
Sugar - Maroon 5 (38 weeks, #45) Earned It - The Weekend (41 weeks, #44) Bad Blood - Taylor Swift (23 weeks, #43) Want To Want Me - Jason Derulo (30 weeks, #42) El Perdon - Nicky Jam & Enrique Iglesias (28 weeks, #60) *not likely to fall off, but it is possible
Obiviously there are others that could/will fall off next week, but these are the songs in my current YE top 200.

See You Again's radio has stopped plunging at a high point... damn! Why isn't it falling like a rock now? People suddenly are less tired of this song? Anyone can explain?

It might seem unlikely, but is there any chance that The Hills could finish within the top 10 on the final list?

I just realised, Taylor is the only female in the top 10! The closest to that low in recent time has been 2 in 2013, everything before this and after 2006 (as far back as I can check on Billboard) has been more than 4 I hate it! It's way off for this sad year to only have one female #1 & year-end top 10.. I wish it's gonna be mostly girls next year like the glorious fall and winter last year.. Now look at Maroon 5.. Nick Jonas.. OMI... Charlie Puth... Wiz Khalifa... Silento... Justin Bieber... ED Sheeran... Walk the Moon... Jason Derulo... One Direction... Drake... Shawn Mendes... and Fetty Wap and the Weeknd (though I like these two)... they all just make things look NOT as beautiful as the counterpart last year. Taylor Swift is so excellent battling with those people who's never gonna leave the chart!! Wish divas can block ALL males out of top 10 some point next year (though it's hard!)

The music industry is mostly dominated by female artists, so I for one am glad that the charts have been dominated by men this year and several of them are good. This isn't me being sexist or anything, but after what happened last fall, it was kind of refreshing to see men top the charts again. I like some of the female pop stars and female artists, but you can't expect them to be on top of the charts every year. I am looking forward to hearing from Ariana and Adele again, though. And to be honest, any year end list that doesn't include Katy Perry, Kesha and Iggy Azalea is a good one. Female artist always get the attention, now it's time for guys to get the spotlight.

Very rarely will I hear news on a male pop artist that's not Justin Bieber and One Direction (and maybe Ed Sheeran to a smaller extent) and what he's up to, or what type of an instagram or stuff like that. Female artists on the other hand, seem to be the ones that get all the popularity, hog all the spotlight, and have had the most consistant amount of popularity in recent years. I literally see news articles almost every day about Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, etc., while someone like Bruno Mars for example, I never hear about unless he's on the radio. In terms of popularity and media exposure, female artists are the ones that dominate the industry.

Given that the final list is compiled solely on chart points, it's not about ranks and peaks and longevity... it's points points and points. In a prior post I analyzed this song specifically... and it'll be a major accomplishment if it ends up ahead of LMLYD... which still wouldn't be enough to be top 10 at this point, given the other active songs that are too far ahead of it. This is of course based on my numbers from my estimates, and there's always room for error... so I'm definitely not gospel. But I'm pretty confident that it doesn't have a chance.

Then California Gurls would've been the #2 instead of #4 of 2010; then Someone Like You would've been the #12 instead of #24 of 2011; then We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and The One That Got Away would respectively end up at #20 & #21 rather than #33 & #41 in 2012; then Harlem Shake would've been the 22nd biggest hit of 2013 rather than the 4th and Bruno's Locked Out Of Heaven could be ranked #5 but not #11; then Problem could've been out of year-end top 10 one inch away at #11 and not #9 anymore in 2014; then finally this year Thinking Out Loud might be end up #4 and people's hearts are gonna be shattered! Now...Y'all so glad that year-end is different from decade-end right?

With Sugar having now passed Blank Space for the top 5 berth, I think that this is actually the first time ever where the year end top 5 has more songs to not peak at #1 than those to peak at #1! :o

And people don't believe that my d-e prediction is more accurate than Daniel's but when Billboard's gonna reveal the official one then they're gonna be changing their beautiful minds!
