According to AllAccess, this will impact country radio on February 3.

...and how well did that impact go over? lol. Not sure what you mean by this because Lucy got 33 adds on impact date, which is pretty darn good for a brand new artist, especially one who is coming from an ABC Family tv show and who is signed to a Disney label (Disney Music Group Nashville) with radio promotion from an indie label (Bigger Picture). She started the week at #49 on Mediabase and #51 on Billboard.

Must admit, the biggest problem I have with this song is Lucy's vocals. The strength of her voice to me isn't strong. Not saying that every single female artist has to sound like Carrie, or Martina, but she seems to be limited as a singer judging by this song. When she sings the lyrics like "When you lean in", and "Shining like a spotlight" is when it's evident the most. Now can she sing better than I can, yeah, absolutely; and is her voice good enough, I would say so (There are others on country radio that will remain nameless that are clearly lesser vocalist than her). The song itself is OK. .indulgecountry mentioned on the previous page about this being similar pop country version to "Sounds So Good" but not as good, and that comparison is perfect. Overall I don't dislike this song, but to me personally, the vocals aren't as good as I expected. Perhaps Lucy can win me over with her follow up singles.

The song is definitely okay, but her vocals are embarrassing.

Her voice is one that needed to grow on me, as I was a bit put off by it at first as well. Now I don't mind it. She's certainly not comparable to Carrie or Martina or Faith, or even Kacey or Miranda tbh, but she's decent. And hopefully as she grows into her own as an artist, she'll discover what kinds of songs work best with her voice. I personally think "Nervous Girls" is much better than "You Sound Good to Me," so I have hope for the rest of her album. For those who don't know, it's set for release June 3rd.

It's her debut single and she's a female. I'd be stunned if it went to #1. I'm pretty sure that Carrie Underwood is the last female to take her debut single to #1, and that was 8 years ago already. Lucy is going to be in for a very slow climb up the chart just like any other new artist. This song isn't really doing any better or worse than most of the other singles from new artists that are outside the top 40 on the radio charts.

It's not really "loosing" audience but it's been basically completely flat. This song was without a bullet on each of the last 2 Billboard charts, however, so if it can't re-bullet on Monday, it will go recurrent already. I think she's likely to re-bullet though. The song isn't really falling at all and she's close enough to the + column that she'll probably be able to manage a small spins gain for the week, and thus get that bullet back. I never thought this would be a very big hit, though, and even if it manages to chart for a while longer yet, I just can't see how radio will turn this into a big hit. She's on a smaller label too and that's working against this one. She has been losing a little bit of ground the last couple of weeks, but not enough to say for certain that this one is done. Maybe it can scrape its way toward the top 40 yet but that's about as high as I think it will go.

Let's be honest here, she's only finding any airplay because of her celebrity status. She doesn't have a good voice at all and her music is as basic as it can be.

I also like her voice and I think it's clear that she is genuine about this record. It would have been so easy for her to just release a pop record but she didn't.

Her vocals are definitely Carrie or even Miranda but there's a quality voice in there. She was a singer before she got popular as an actress (she was in that girl group from American Juniors, I believe). Anyway, The album -- I've had it for a while now -- is pretty solid and "Nervous Girls" is very good, if radio would only play it. They won't. "From The Backseat" should be a single at some point soon though. DMG has deep pockets (it IS a disney label) and certainly wants her to succeed as an artist too.

Walt Disney used to have Lyric Street Records. The question is: How committed is Disney to the country market?

Walt Disney used to have Lyric Street Records. The question is: How committed is Disney to the country market? They pulled Lyric Street right around the time of the Economy crash, no surprise there. They're committed enough to have a Nashville label with a few staff members, a publishing arm and also to work with Bigger Picture for promotion at radio. It's actually a smart choice at the moment and one that was used when Atlantic signed Zac Brown Band (before Zac hired his own team for his future -now- transition to Southern Ground Artists).

This is one of my favorite songs by a new artist. It's very catchy and innocent. I get so sick of all the broken heart, my boyfriend left me or cheated on me singles that female artists put out these days. I wish more girls would sing upbeat positive songs like this one (I'm looking at you Cassadee Pope and Taylor Swift).

Will this go recurrent soon? Or is is it catching back on? I don't understand the recurrent system!! Ugh! No. It had a fairly good gain today on Mediabase today with a increase of 70 spins. It's been bouncing around the mid 40's the past few weeks, so I would suspect this wouldn't go much further than just inside the top 40 but it's not done yet. Mediabase recurrent rule is it has to have three consecutive bulletless weeks to be sent recurrent. Songs further down the chart sometimes will be gone if it's been less than three weeks but that's because they dip below the top 50.

To clarify, its increase today wasn't 70 spins. That's the bullet, aka how many spins the song has gained in the past 7 days compared to the 7 days before this (though I'm sure you know this sabre14...I'm just trying to help out Tylerjamesnerd). But otherwise I agree, Lucy had a pretty good update today--up 16 spins and 55k in audience--and she's in no immediate danger of going recurrent. Mediabase recurrent rule is it has to have three consecutive bulletless weeks to be sent recurrent. Songs further down the chart sometimes will be gone if it's been less than three weeks but that's because they dip below the top 50. Yep, and Billboard's rules are basically the same, although they allow older songs (21+ weeks on the chart) to go recurrent after only one negative week. If the loss is small the song might get a grace week, but if it's a big enough loss and the song is old enough, Billboard will pull it.

The week has not been kind to Lucy. She lost her bullet on Monday's Billboard chart, and she continues to plummet. That, coupled with the announcement that Bigger Picture Group (the label promoting this one) is shutting down and has eliminated its radio staff, assures that this one is done. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Tylerjamesnerd and others who enjoy this one. It will be sent recurrent on Billboard on Monday the 19th.

They seem to still be promoting this single. Which is interesting given that the song seems to be done @radio.

Maybe some fresh promotion from In2une can revive this one but I have my doubts; like you said, it seems like YSGTM is basically done at radio.

With Charlie, Chuck, and Jerrod gone, the song is pushed back to #46 on Mediabase, but it is still without a bullet and things definitely point to this leaving here real soon.

It will be sent recurrent on Billboard on Monday the 19th. Terrible news. It's such as fun feel good song I thought it would have done better. Scratch that. Lucy somehow managed to re-bullet on tonight's Billboard chart despite losing audience almost everyday at Mediabase this week, so she's [once again] not in any immediate danger of going recurrent at Billboard. With In2une Nashville picking up radio promotion, there may be some hope for this, although I still think it's minimal.

Not a fan get it off radio now!! Her voice seriously irritates and bugs my ears!! Yuck! No disrespect to any fans out there but c'mon guys really..... What do you guys have against her voice? She sounds great to my ears (and eyes ;). I got nothing against her voice, but I don't feel she's a very strong vocalist. There are times during this song where it's more evident than others like early on when she sings "Full moon, shinin like a spotlight" and "When you whisper, yeah baby when you lean in". I personally am nowhere near irritated by her singing but it does distract me form fully enjoying this particular song. Again, she's not a bad vocalist but in terms of other singers in country music, she's nowhere near the top of the heap. Depending on what happens with her upcoming singles with her promotion label closing up shop, I'll see if Lucy can win me over because this song didn't do it.

This went recurrent on Monday. I'm assuming her label (Disney Music Group Nashville) will want to release more singles, so it'll be interesting to see who they choose to partner with for promotion, now that Bigger Picture has shuttered. In2une Nashville, a small independent promo team, did pick up promotion for "You Sound Good To Me" but they weren't able to revive it. DMG Nashville could stay partnered with them but perhaps they'll want a more well-known promo team (In2une has been working Jamie Lynn Spears' "How Could I Want More" as well, and that's the first country single they've ever worked...as far as I understand, they didn't open their Nashville offices until the beginning of this year).
On a related note, HITS has Lucy's album forecast to open with 22-25k in first week sales. That's a really good number for her, and it's on par or even better than what we've seen for several other new artists' (with top 20 radio success) first week sales. Of course it helps that Lucy is also fairly well-known as an actress but in any case, those numbers would be a nice debut for her album.
