How were you able to listen to it? The Swon Brothers music isn't my cup of tea. After I saw this thread, I went online and checked out some of their songs. I personally don't think you should write them off, when they haven't even had their first single at radio yet. Not saying your going to enjoy this song or The Swon Brothers debut album, but saying "It's not your cup of tea" after the thread of a unreleased debut single is not even an hour old is a bit premature IMO.

I think this is really good. Groove, hook, harmonies...it IS my cup of tea.

I echo Bigfan101, and Dustin's thoughts. It was much better than I originally thought. The lyrics are still generic, but they impressed me with their vocal delivery. The production is a bit loud but not a burden at all. It's got that good melody that puts you in that good kind of mood to listen to some more music like it.

I agree with sabre, the melody really sells this. Not to mention it's an up-tempo without a hip hop beat to speak of - a big plus in my book. Arista isn't the benchmark that it once was, but I could easily see this doing well.

I like the song. This will surely sell well this week since they are debuting it on The Voice tonight. Good that they don't have a country singer on the Live Rounds on the current season since we already have a lot of new ones from them.

Wait. What does "shipping" a single mean?

Published on Jan 10, 2014 Check out Zach and Colton Swon as they go behind the scenes at The Voice. The Swon Brothers returned to The Voice to play their new single "Later On" for the first time to a national audience. Get "Later On" on iTunes here: smarturl.it/lateron

Wait. What does "shipping" a single mean? It means that the song was serviced to radio -- usually stations get both a physical copy of the single as well as the digital version. So, essentially, this song is available to radio to play now. However, with Arista setting an early March adds date, it probably means that they're just letting radio getting an early 'taste' while they wrap up the radio tour, promotion strategies, etc, and get ready to roll everything out in 6-7 weeks' time. Basically, radio can play it early if they want to, but full promotion won't start for a few more weeks yet (which makes sense, 'cause January is packed with new releases already and you wouldn't want a new act to get lost in the shuffle).

They will be performing this song on the Today Show this Friday, live from Sochi. Great support from NBC (home of The Voice).

They performed "Danny's Song", "Later On" and a new song called "Pray For You" in The Bing Lounge . And they told about Blake Shelton. I quite like "Pray For You"

Like you I was expecting a lot of impact date adds, but I was expecting something like 40. Maybe 50 being a optimistic number. 70 is a unreal amount of adds for a debut artist. I know they were on The Voice but man, I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm a little bit surprised. 12 adds for Kellie is a downer to me. Hopefully this can do what "Someone Somewhere Tonight", and "Little Bit Gypsy" couldn't do and be a slow grower of a hit.

I know they were on The Voice but man, I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm a little bit surprised. It's a tad higher than I thought it would be (I was expecting in the 50-60 range) but the signs were there that they'd have a big debut. Country Aircheck even branded itself with the name Swon this past week (and maybe this is just the journalism side of me, but that seems like a conflict of interest to me--Country Aircheck, as an organization, should report on radio and the news but it's not their job to promote one artist over another. That seems wrong to me. I would liken it to a reporter writing a positive article about someone but not revealing that the person was a close relative. This isn't the same type of thing of course but it is similar). Anyway...I think Arista is also at credit here for getting these guys' names and faces out there. We've known about the song for a while, early sales have been pretty solid...there's just a lot of awareness. NBC even featured the song on some of the Olympics broadcasts. And from everything I can tell they were pretty impressive on their radio tour as well.

jhomes87, That Aircheck thing was a paid-advertisement by Arista in advance of the Add date.

jhomes87, That Aircheck thing was a paid-advertisement by Arista in advance of the Add date. Yes, I get that. But Country Aircheck itself should be a neutral organization. It is their job to report the charts, facts, news, etc. It's not right for them to show bias toward one artist/label over another. It should not be their job to influence the chart (Mediabase) that they partner with, and having The Swon Brothers as the banner ad as well as having Lon Helton and all of his co-workers change their names to such names as Swon Helton, strikes me as wrong. Like I said, it reads as a major conflict of interest. That's journalism ethics 101 and it should apply here (to Country Aircheck) as well.

I don't see any ethical issue with them having fun and being pun-y. They're always being pun-y with headlines and have done the same thing to their names through the years. It's really not gonna influence anyone to add the song. If that were the case this would happen ALL the time, which it doesn't.

^Just a difference of opinion. That's the thing about ethics rules/violations. Ethics codes are pretty much voluntary and they usually aren't universal (not everyone agrees on what's 'ethical' or not). But I know they teach these types of things in journalism/ethics classes. Another situation is how ESPN is launching the SEC Network. ESPN is a company that reports on sports, but financially partnering with one conference is a definite conflict of interest. It's ESPN's job to be neutral and to not show bias to any one team/college or conference.
The Swon Brothers/Country Aircheck thing, to me, just reads like a conflict of interest. Not a huge deal but again, in my opinion, it makes Country Aircheck a little less credible than they already are, mainly because they attach their name to Mediabase and in this case it appears that they are showing strong bias towards The Swon Brothers.

It was also done with The Band Perry and "Chainsaw" They had a banner ad, yes, but that's not specifically what I am talking about (nor do I find it to be an issue). I'm talking about this: ...which was at the bottom of every email last week, and to me Country Aircheck does come across as way too suggestive to radio PD's here, given that the chart itself is the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart.
