That was quick, I guess. Sounds like another corny "Pretty Fly For a White Guy"-esque song. I also wonder if it'll under-perform on Alternative like the recent singles by Jimmy Eat World and AFI. Active sort of adopted them with the singles from Days Gone By from Alternative, so I'm sure it can do moderately well on that format.

"Days Go By" hit as high as #2 on Active (well, Billboard Mainstream Rock), so I'd say it will perform fine at that format. I've grown to prefer their more serious songs, though - most of their tongue-in-cheek songs after Americana sound forced.

Cannot take them seriously with that title. Love them but hope this isn't another Crusing California

Over time I've felt they really should have released "I Wanna Secret Family (With You)". Perhaps this is along those same lines.

I like The Offspring but wasn't huge on "Days Go By" Maybe this will reverse that but I haven't liked anything they've done since Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace

I certainly wasn't expecting a new song from them without hearing about a new album first. I don't know to think of this song title. I literally said "WTF?!?!" when I saw the title of thread. I'm a bit worried that they may travel the same route as Jimmy Eat World and AFI on the chart, but since they've had success on it throughout their career, maybe they won't. I think it also depends a lot on how this sounds.

It's pretty much guaranteed it'll do better on Active, then Alternative. Times have changed. it'll be the other way around

While it may chart higher on Active, it'll still easily make top 10. The Offspring are pretty much an Alternative staple, and unlike recent bombs by AFI and JEW, these guys are almost guaranteed a high debut (or at least a high second-week movement).

Jimmy Eat World were pretty much guaranteed a high debut and peak, but struggled to even get to the Top 40. Seeing as both "My Best Theory" and "Coffee & Cigarettes" from their previous album peaked at #2 and ~#23, respectively, and JEW being more alt-friendly these days then the Offspring, I believe "We Never Have Sex Anymore" will fall short. Keep in mind, "Days Go By" was pretty much riding the coattails of their hits on Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, and "Turning Into You" could barely muster a Top 40 peak. I'm guessing this new single will peak in the low teens to high twenties on alternative, while peaking inside the Top 10 on active.

"Turning Into You" didn't do very well on Active either though. I think this may perform in line with "Mind Your Manners". Odd comparison, but it's hard to make a guess without hearing what the song sounds like.

The title probably fits in better with the cock rock leaning Active (although I did say the same about Pepper's "Fuck Around (All Night)"

The title probably fits in better with the cock rock leaning Active (although I did say the same about Pepper's "f**k Around (All Night)" I somehow doubt this will be a cock-rock song though. The title makes it sounds more like one of their joke songs that shouldn't be taken seriously.

Days Gone By was for me their best album since Conspiracy Of One, so I'm looking foward to this. Offspring "stupid" songs have been at least listenable.

I've heard the track, and while I'm sort of mediocre on the Offspring, the song is kind of fun. Their latest album seems to meld their older sound in with a Swing element. A lot of bouncy beats and brass sounds. - David

There are exactly four results pertaining to this when you search for it on the front page of Google. The rest is about parents not having sex.

They've been around since the Green Day years of the chart, where JEW and AFI had their mainstream success after the turn of the century.
I find that the latter two have a much better quality control in songs but they could out peak both of those acts.

Yeah but AFI and JEW's best albums (Art of Drowning and Clarity) never gave em any hits

I'm saying that it seems like there was this automatic luck with the continued chart success of basically anything from American acts who broke through in the so called classic years of the format, usually 1991-1994. It seems like the more successful acts since are lucky to have more than two successful album eras.
Jimmy Eat World got to #46 with Lucky Denver Mint and even in 2001, acts like AFI who were then on Nitro didn't get a big mainstream push.
