Chris is one of my best friends and I co-write with him. His next single is "Lonely Eyes" written by Johnny Bulford (Woman Like You) Jason Matthews (Country Man, Must Be Doing Something Right) & Laura Veltz (Drunk Last Night) He was initially planing to release "Nothing But The Cooler Left" but his time frame is narrowing for a fourth release and I think his friendship with Johnny was the ultimate factor. I've heard from numerous sources that the song Chris & I co-wrote will be the debut single from his next album with a planned March release. Won't hold my breath because things change so rapidly here but if you hear "For The Rest Of My Life" on the radio next spring, I co-wrote it! If you keep delivering fantastic insight like this I'm sure many will greatly appreciate it here like I certainly do and hopefully you're a regular contributor. Thanks for the heads up thus far in you're short time here, and welcome to pulse. :) Thanks! I stumbled across this site while Googling about Maddie & Tae and I am very impressed with the amount of research and professionalism on this board. I'll do my best to stay in the know on everything I can for y'all! And yes, we all have each others back here in Nashville. I've been preaching that since I've moved here. That's why many of the songs you hear have the same co-writers on them.

Country No.1 Chris Young Who I Am With You +110600 Florida Georgia Line Dirt I hope that holds up until Monday. Chris Young will collect his sixth #1 hit and I will move him from #120 to #96 on the list of those artists with the most #1s.

I think this is the best song on radio right now. I hear this many times during my drive to and from work. IMO his best single to date.

Please tell us more about "For the Rest of My Life". Fascinated with the title for sure. Did you write the words, melody? What's the Tempo? You've sparked some excitement here and really appreciate the info you've given us already. Chris has become a good friend of mine, we met a couple of years ago through Johnny Bulford and since then he's been like a brother to me. I guess because we have the exact same birthday (June 12th) haha Great songs are born they're not written. A girl broke my heart pretty bad in January this year and Chris being the good guy he is was really there for me during that time. He asked if I wanted to go to Guitar Center one miserably cold January day and later that night I called my good friend Brett Tyler over to help with the installation of Pro Tools and to check out this really cool guitar amp Chris purchased. I stood up to go get another beer and told Brett & Chris that I could never write a broken heart song (which is the cliche thing people say to you as a songwriter when you experience a broken heart "Just write about it man") I said I will only write love songs forever and then Chris just calmly asks has anyone written "What are you doing for the rest of my life?" Brett just happened to be playing Chris' Gibson acoustic and just sings & plays this melody. Chris and I look at each other and not even 30 minutes later a beautiful song was born. I've compared the song to the next Lonestar "Amazed" I personally think this will be Chris' signature song that takes him to superstar status not because I wrote it nor because I wrote it with Chris (I've written plenty of songs with Chris) it's a beautiful/powerful/mid-tempo ballad that I don't even know how to put into words. We all contributed to the song lyrically but Chris played a big role in the majority of the lyrics. He's a fantastic lyricist by the way. I know a lot can and will change between now and then but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for sure! I remember a Chris Tweet that he had just written the best song (don't recall the exact wording) but he was really pumped about it. Somehow I get the feeling that this was the song he was talking about. The Song title grabs you and based on the back story, sounds compelling. REALLY looking forward to the possibilities. Thank you *on a side note. I am sorry you got your heart broken. I am glad your buddy was there for you and you guys could turn a negative into a positive.

I'm just the guy sitting here thinking, how awesome would it be to have Chris Young sing a song from your life? Let alone one you were able to have a hand in crafting. Dang...looking forward to it.

Great to see that Joe Nichols has come back from the Showdog Universal oblivion, but really hoping that this song doesn't get blocked at #1 by Yeah

Jake Owen's "Beachin'" has really taken a tumble in the past few days and hopefully we have a new #1 with this song for next week. This would be his 6th #1 if it does so.

And with that, it is my hope that guys like Chris do not get lost in the shuffle. That RCA gives him the promotion and support he deserves. In my opinion, I believe he has been supported but not in a way I personally would have preferred. I am not attacking anyone at the label, just an observation I have had over the years.

LOL. Joe Nichols is gonna block both Chris and Tyler on Billboard. Reminds me of that FGL/RF/Luke scenario a few months ago: Chris = 'This Is How We Roll' Tyler = 'Rewind' Joe = 'Play It Again'

If "Yeah" beats Chris Young to No. 1 on BB, I still expect him to reach No. 1 the following week. Tyler will get his No. 1 on Mediabase and should bow out of contention, deservedly so (shouldn't even be a #1 on that chart imo).

Well the charts aren't final till late tonight/tomorrow morning. The Mediabase chart I follow currently has Chris at #1. But by a small margin of only 23 spins ahead of Tyler.

It is at the moment, but oftentimes more points are awarded to the song with the larger daily spin and audience increases. In today's case, Tyler outgained Chris by a hefty margin in both areas. I suspect that a similar update tomorrow will see Tyler move to #1, likely only for Sunday - just for the chart to finalize. Tyler will then fall, probably immediately, because realistically that song has no business hitting #1 on any chart. Label chartjacks are stupid.

Just got off the phone with my buddy at Sony, they are all in for Farr this week because they feel WIAWY has staying power to reach #1 next week with Nichols to round out July. We'll see what happens, he said if Farr doesn't go #1 this week it'll drop faster than Dallas Davidson on Demonbreun

I'm sure that will take some time to live down. :'( I I was hoping to see Chris go #1 on both charts this weekend. As a long time believer in his work, this kind of business makes me nervous. On a brighter note....A friend of mine was at a Chris's Show in Bossier, La. last night and he announced that WIAWY is going to be a GOLD single.

We'll see what happens, he said if Farr doesn't go #1 this week it'll drop faster than Dallas Davidson on Demonbreun Yeah, like carriekins said, it really looks like Tyler is only a hair behind Chris, and so I too am expecting Tyler to have one more big update (tomorrow morning) allowing him to jump ahead of Chris for just a day or so. That will make the Mediabase #1 official for "Whiskey In My Water"...and then Tyler's song will probably collapse as we head into next week. I'm not too worried about Chris, though. Maybe Joe Nichols will keep him from the Billboard #1 but I think Chris will be able to get to #1 on Mediabase at least, probably for next weekend's charts. He and Joe could split time at #1 on Billboard, too. All in all, while I hate the push for Farr's song, I understand why Sony is doing it. Tyler's song was quite clearly the 'lesser hit' of the 3, and it's an older song too, so the label felt that this week was their only chance to push it to the MB #1 spot. But they know that "Who I Am With You", however, still has a bit of gas left in the tank. Thus, they go all-in for Tyler this week and will then focus on Chris in the next week or two.

I bet CY 200 dollars in May that WIAWY would go #1 the third week of July, I'm good to go either way. My buddy gets his 6th #1 or I get 200 dollars.

Nothing like the 1980s: Alabama, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride, Waylon Jennings, Kenny Rogers, Sylvia, Eddie Rabbitt, Eddy Raven, Restless Heart, the Judds, Keith Whitley, Vince Gill (I know, nothing like his MCA years), Ronnie Milsap, Earl Thomas Conley, etc. (RCA artists only).

I think he won't mind at all handing over the $200. It's a WIN WIN for both of you. A few years back, Chris and his Dad bet my husband $200 that my hubby wouldn't sing karaoke. My husband is a retired Navy Seal and is pretty awesome at most things, just not singing. After MANY shots of tequila, my Man went up there and sang a Charlie Rich song. Badly. :) Chris and his Dad threw the money down but my husband wouldn't take it. He didn't want to take their money. Well, we quickly learned that Chris takes a bet seriously and if you bet with them/him.... if you win you accept the $$ and if you lose be prepared to fork it over. I don't think I have ever seen Chris so animated. That was a fun night.

The Mediabase chart isn't final until Sunday evening, so no, it's not official. It's no different than how Joe Nichols is currently tracking #1 on Billboard. It's not a #1 yet because the week (for Billboard) goes through 11:59 PM on Sunday. For Mediabase the week goes through 11:59 PM on Saturdays (so tonight) but the finalized chart doesn't get published on AllAccess until sometime on Sunday evening.

Would be great if this gets to number one, but if not, this record has already accomplished a great deal, not the least of which revived his career back to where it was before "Neon" title track was released in the Spring of 2012.
Since "Lonely Eyes" most likely will perform far better at country radio than "Neon" did over that Summer, by the time the lead single for the next project is shipped he'll be in the best position he's ever been to take things to the next level.
Whether or not this reaches number one doesn't change his future prospects as they sit right now.
Measure of success moving forward is sales and I think he's done all that needs to be done with his touring and public image, especially in 2014, to ramp it up in that area.
Sony and his management team needs to go all in with the next project, and what I mean by that is investing and pouring maximum resources in terms of promotion. It's a safe bet for them to do that.
His biggest challenge is keeping himself out of the hospital.
