I was going to comment on this and was wondering where it wondered off to! For whatever reason I've actually been on a Toby Keith kick for the past week or so. His music is someone's that I could take or leave back in the day, but lately he's someone I've come to actually miss hearing on radio. I even went back and listened to "Getcha Some" (one song I hated back in the day) and well it's got this nice groove that you just don't hear on radio anymore. I guess this says more about the current state of country radio. Still, I'm respecting Toby more now than I did back then.

I actually heard "Getcha Some" on Prime Country (Sirius/XM) yesterday. I too didn't care for it at all when I was a kid. The feel and melody are really infectious though. The reason I never liked it when I was little was when he says those words at the end of each chorus like "Money" or "Babies". Just the way Toby sang that just rubbed me the wrong way. Looking back I find that maybe that was just me being a kid. I feel he's made some bad decisions along the way in his career since starting Show-Dog but in the end he's done it the way he feels is right and doesn't care what others think. I've always respected that.

those LAW songs don't sound like covers - I think this is a new original album, her first in six years!

Yeah, I think it sounds like an originals album as well. Maybe what threw people through a loop was some of the press about the songs she selected being from songwriters, but if you looked back through her catalog, Womack has very rarely picked up the pen for any of her own music so this is not surprising. Like George Strait, her music is almost exclusively outside cuts. I'm back to being very excited for this album instead of just mildly excited.

those LAW songs don't sound like covers - I think this is a new original album, her first in six years! I know some are covers. "Don't Listen To The Wind" was recorded by Buddy Miller, "Tomorrow Night In Baltimore" was recorded by Roger Miller, and "Out On The Weekend" was recorded by Neil Young. "Chances Are" was also recorded by its writer, Hayes Carll. And just for fun, you can see Lee Ann perform "Same Kind Of Different" - which I believe Kacey Musgraves wrote - here.

So technically, by definition, these songs are "covers" since they were recorded by the songwriters, but none of them were exactly big hits. "Tomorrow Night In Baltimore" went to #11 for Roger Miller back in 1971, and Neil Young had several hit singles but he never released "Out On The Weekend" as a single. Hayes Carll hasn't had any significant hits either; he's gotten some airplay in Texas, but even there I don't think he's scored very many hits. I think that a lot of people, myself included, think of covers albums as 'covers of the big hits', but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Most of these covers here will be little-known songs to the public.

From the mid-week update:
Universal Music Group Nashville will release Now That’s What I Call Country Vol. 7 on June 3 with 18 established hits by the likes of Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Brad Paisley, Hunter Hayes, Lady Antebellum, Thomas Rhett and Parmalee. The disc also offers a “what’s next” bonus with Leah Turner’s “Pull Me Back.” Each of the six previous editions reached the top 10 on Top Country Albums. Five hit the top five.

^ That Now That's What I Call Country Music Volume 7 hurt my eyes. And of course it's nothing but huge hits. I remember the first couple had songs like "Another Try", "Learning How To Bend", "Everything Is Fine", and "Up On The Ridge" Super cool to see BlackHawk too. The title track has been up on All Access for a little while now. They definitely are looking older though.

sabre14, is this the same song from their 2002 album "Spirit Dancer" because it has a song titled "Brothers Of The Southland". Is this the same song? NEVERMIND, I got my answer, YES, it's the same song but this version sounds more clearer and has a freshness to the quality of the song. I have the 2002 album and I am now wondering why release the same song 12 years later on their new album of the same title?

Even though Radio is rejecting all the names I would like played again and on the charts, 2014 is still one heck of an exciting year in music compared to the last few years. Glad to see so many artists from the 90s and 2000s trying to still make it. Glad to see Bryan White, Jo Dee Messina, James House, Lee Ann Womack, and Blackhawk all releasing new music in the same year.

The Woman I Am will be available on vinyl in a few weeks, just in time for CMA Fest, according to Kellie's Facebook. Gosh, what a beautiful cover!

July 1Colt Ford " Thanks For Listening" (Average Joes Entertainment) Source: AllAccess This will be Colt's 5th studio album. I'm torn. His last album was fantastic, but his current single "The High Life" is terrible and is a far left to all his other material. And this is Colt Ford we're talking about.

Anybody know where i can get a physical copy of Jamie O'neal's new album for about 10 bucks? None of my local stores have it and ebay and Amazon want about 15 with shipping.
