does greg bates still have a label? Last I knew he didn't...I haven't seen anything saying differently. I thought after he got dropped by Republic some insiders stated that he had a new deal lined up but I forget who it was with if it was mentioned at all.

See, the weird thing is that even though he's no longer listed as with BMLG, he has done several appearances over the past year under the BMLG umbrella. So I don't know if Borchetta is "holding" onto him, so to speak, or what.

I think most assumed so since his picture was taken down from BMLG's website and he hasn't had a single since "Fill In The Blank". Either way, I would love to get new music from him whether it's with BMLG or another label (though his opportunity for success would be much greater with the former).

RaeLynn told on Instagram that her new EP is coming out tomorrow. And someone over Twitter posted this picture about the physical EP they won at her Fan Appreciation Party I think that was for her cousin's EP. I didn't see anything about hers on instagram ???

A little birdie has mentioned that a country diva will be pulling a Beyonce this fall. Can't say who, but she is one of three artists Apple has lined up with this new marketing technique. Not all 3 acts are country. No streaming for the album for the first year but physical albums will be out before Christmas. October/November is the time it should happen. It is NOT Taylor Swift. The mods can permban my IP on this if it doesn't happen. That is how certain I am that it will.

Via thecountryvibe.com:
Zac Brown Band just released a new single, “All Alright,” off their latest EP, The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1, and they say more new music is on the way. Zac says, “We’re recording another full Zac Brown Band record this fall, so we’ll be in the studio a few solid months and planning for a spring release … spring or early summer. But we’ll have it all in the can by the end of the year.”
Zac says they’re planning to do a couple things differently for the next album. “We’re taking more time to record this year than we ever have and working with several different producers as well within the same project, so we’re really excited about that.”
And it looks like a full-length studio album may not be the only thing in the works from Zac Brown Band. He wouldn’t offer any more details, but Zac said, “There’s a lot of cool things coming down. We’re gonna have some cool announcements to make here in the next month or so.”

So I don't know if Borchetta is "holding" onto him, so to speak, or what. It's possible (that Borchetta is "holding" on to him) but I think the more likely reason is because Greg is still signed to Big Machine's publishing arm. They have a couple of non-BMLG acts signed to publishing contracts as well, including Sunny Sweeney (formerly with Republic as well) and Dustin Lynch. Otherwise, in answer to sabre14's post, yes, Greg was officially dropped from Republic's roster. That was confirmed by rsmatto and, in response to Spacey_Kacey's post, I believe it was also Matt who said a while back that Greg was possibly nearing a deal with another label.

Actually it means dropping a new album digitally as a surprise with no prior acknowledgment to the public on its release. And, in response to this news, I am definitely very intrigued by this. Should be interesting to see how that goes and who it turns out to be.

I was referring to the infamous video of Beyonce, Solange, and Jay Z!

Question: did Beyonce end up selling her album physically or just digitally? I wonder if an-all-digital release would potentially hurt album sales for a country act, since correct me if I'm wrong, physical albums still sell very well in the country genre.

Beyonce's album was available physically a week after the surprise release on digital retailers. And I imagine the business model would work fine for a country artist, especially given that a physical copy would eventually be released as well. Digital sales have become more prominent for country acts in recent years, even though album sales also still do pretty well on the whole. Anyway, if we're gonna speculate about who it'll be, my guess is maybe Shania Twain?

I know some people who know some people, though, and Reba apparently hasn't been doing enough lately for this to be about her. Faith has been recording material for years now, and Shania has been writing a lot. I'm excited to hear more about this.

Faith Hill would be another good guess as well and possibly her best bet at a comeback now that she's squandered her chance to drop a new record twice already with failed singles. From what I've heard she certainly has enough material recorded and the timing with "Meanwhile Back at Mama's" currently blazing up the charts would be a nice segue-way into that.

I just don't think it will be Carrie, because she has already talked about working on a new album, and fans are completely expecting there to be a new one by the end of this year. It would still be really cool if it was her, but I think with her we're pretty much at the point where we're all expecting a single and release date announcement anytime now. My initial thought was Faith Hill, but I really love the suggestion of Shania as well! I think it will be one of those two. They have talked about working on music, but aside from that nobody knows what is going on... I'm going to give Shania the slight edge on this one, because we have heard the least from her, and given her previous star power, it could potentially be a HUGE surprise that goes over VERY well!

Pretty pumped for the Lee Brice album ("Girls In Bikinis" withstanding). Pretty underrated and consistent artist IMO.

Her next CD is the light at the end of a never ending tunnel so to speak...you can see the light but as time goes on you still see that light and it doesn't seem to be getting any closer. Faith Hill is incredible we all know that, anybody who disagrees can go join the Curb Records fan club, and I think her music honestly wouldn't fit into what a majority of the radio stations are playing right now. In my opinion radio goes through phases where the songs they play have such quality and its a pleasure to listen to the radio, then there are times like now where its really just crap. It just wouldn't be a good fit right now. Reba's doing whatever she wants, and she's earned that right. I'll try and squeeze to see if anything comes out of her people or anybody who knows anything about her people. I keep getting that they're focusing on the launch of the website and fan club and the Pray for Peace...those and Caroline Kole are where all the eggs at starstruck have been places so I've been told. But I think its a croc of crap cause she's got a lot of free time this summer, and if she's on vacation normally she says something about it cause she does like to share some stuff like that. But she's been quiet which to me means she's up to something more! You also can't stay this inactive when the head of ur label is Scott Borchetta. As for a Beyonce drop....I couldn't see any other artist beside Garth Brooks & Adele doing well with something like that.

I thought Carrie because they said "country diva" and she is probably the only current female superstar in country that would be labeled that these days. Plus, we haven't heard anything solid about a new single or album so I could see it happening. But then again, Shania is ending her stay in Vegas next month, and fans are eagerly waiting for new music, so that's probably more realistic. Faith Hill doesn't really have the star power anymore to do something like this, IMO.

Well Faith Hill's album was originally supposed to be out in 2009 I think - and we have yet to see it.I think it'll be a good year for her if they actually get a single to crack the top 20... As for Shania, does she have time to write and record in between performances??? I hope she puts out an album before she turns 50, which is one more year!

I finally had a chance to listen to Chase Rice's acoustic set (Superfan Concert) that he did last week on SiriusXM. He said the name of his album that is coming out late summer (think August per a tweet) will be called Ignite the Night. Three songs from the Ready Set Roll EP will be on the standard version of the new album - Ready Set Roll, How She Rolls and Look at my Truck. The other three tracks will be on the deluxe version - Best Beers of Our Lives, Party Up and Country In Ya as well as Woah. He confirmed Carolina Can as a track on the album and said there will be a good mix of songs - ballads, old, traditional country sounds and his party songs too.

^ I honestly suggest listening to this song, it's called Jack Daniels and Jesus. It's been on his last two albums - Dirt Road Communion and Ready Set Roll Ep as an acoustic version. I know he mentioned possibly having it on this new album but he didn't mention it on that special.

Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband will have a new album coming out this fall called We Rode On that is available now through their live shows and will be made available through i-Tunes and physical sale through select stores in the fall. The Utah-based band is best known for their hit single "Dream Big" and "Banjo Boy" that came out on their 2005 Capitol Nashville release, Dream Big.

^ I still think those guys are some of the most talented musicians to come along over recent years. "Dream Big" was fantastic and "Banjo Boy" (while not radio friendly and never should have been a single, twice in fact) was extremely funny. Even their independent stuff was good, although could get a bit out there. Glad to see they are finally delivering new music which they've teased for a while now.
