Thank God the A.C.M.s are leaving Las Vegas for Dallas next year. Who knows? Maybe the 'country' will be put back into the A.C.M.s. Just because a show isn't held in the south doesn't make it non-Country. Stop trying. George did not deserve to win EOTY. I'm sorry, George Strait deserves to win everything. Especially when the competition is Luke Bryan. George could walk out onstage and do nothing but make armpit noises, and he would still deserve to beat Luke Bryan. Just thought I'd get that cleared up. :) Just thought I'd get this cleared up for you: churchchoir is completely right. :)

For what it's worth, Kacey retweeted this briefly last night. So it doesn't look like it was her choice not to perform.

On merit, I don't think George Strait deserved ETOY. But, I could say the same of Lambert winning her 5th consecutive FV trophy, so whatever. On another note, I can't help but think "college frat boy douchebags" every single time FGL gets up to sing or even say something. Those guys are downright embarrassing.

Loved her dig at country radio! You go girl! Sorry to double post, but I just went back and read the comments from last night. What exactly did she say to dig at country radio? I ask because I watched it a couple times and didn't pick up on that. But so happy that she won! Random thought: Kacey Musgraves is the female Eric Church Hmm...interesting take. She definitely is a "rebel" like him, but I think based on her influences and songwriting that she will steer towards more traditional country as opposed to Eric, who has more of the rock edge to him. I did notice that he gave her a standing ovation when she accepted her award!

Well if that wasn't a stupid thing to post. If he was my merch manager and he dissed my hero online like that he'd be #merchmanagerlookingforjob.

Even though I think that George (as much as I love him and appreciate his career), I still don't believe he should have won EOTY. But I'd be lying if I said I was upset. Far from it in fact. I was jubilant when he won. But I don't know how Luke's merchandise manager thought that tweeting out something like that was going to be OK. This is the problem with Twitter. Sometimes people just forget about the fact that it's the internet, and because of that, everyone in the known universe can view it. He was obviously upset that his friend and artist didn't win, but the tweet was completely immature and uncalled for. Plus this was voted on by the fans, so whether he should have been nominated at all is certainly debatable, but it was a voted award. The "not and entertainer" is ridiculous. Has he been to the superstar status of Luke in terms of amount of shows and albums sold entertainer--no. But saying he's not is just ignorant IMO. He also deleted his twitter account after he deleted the tweet.

It was so uncalled for, especially since the award was fan-voted. I wish he would have just apologized instead of deleting his account, that just screams "coward". I think we are all entitled to an opinion, but he should have realized that he was coming across as arrogant and bitter, especially given his connection to Luke.

Luke's bassist's wife has been saying similar things and deleting them on Twitter since last night.
Look, it's fine that you agree or disagree with who won. But I would take a cue from my very high-profile boss before spouting my mouth and making him look bad in the process. And stop deleting the tweets! If you're going to insist on going off, OWN IT.

I absolutely agree. While I don't think Strait deserved to win, the comments from Luke's tour manger come across as incredibly crass and immature. It's one thing to say you think someone else should have won, but when you state it in a manner equivalent to a 5-year-old pouting on the playground, it makes you and everyone around you look bad. IMO, the guy should have had enough sense to either not tweet this, or simply apologize and move on. The fact that he's still pouting about not being able to have an opinion is ridiculous, too. Did he not realize this would receive tons of backlash, especially considering his client is one of the hosts of the evening? I like Luke, and I don't feel like he deserves to be connected to this. His tour manager just sounds like a whiney child who didn't get what he wanted.

This. Anybody with a brain should know that tweets like that, especially considering you are employed by one of the artists involved, are going to cause controversy. If you're dumb enough to tweet it out for the whole world to see, then at least have the balls to own it. People need to realize that deleting tweets doesn't make them disappear. Screenshots last forever! ;)

I actually enjoyed the ACMs last night! I need to re-watch it again. Some really good performances!
EOTY- George deserves it. I was expecting to win either Luke or George but I'm more happy George won. MV- To be honest, I was shocked. I thought Blake or Luke had this one. FV- I know Miranda will win this. I'm happy she won. Album- Everyone wants Same Trailer to win. Single- I was expecting "Cruise" to win this again but thankfully they didn't. Girl Power! ;) Song- Powerful song. New Artist- If it takes "New Artist of the Year award" just for Justin to have some recognition, then go. I voted for him. Group- At last The Band Perry won! They had hits after hits! I'm thrilled for them. Duo- Shocker.. Vocal Event- I thought HDC will win again but thankfully they did not. I don't know why but I'm just not a fan of HDC. I'm so happy WWU won. Video- Well, HDC's video is good but I thought Carrie had this one.

As far as predictions go I started the night off pretty well with 3 in a row (including the 2 off air awards), but then ended up going 6 for 11.
Vocal Event of the Year Winner: "We Were Us"- Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert My Pick: "We Were Us"- Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert
Out of all the winners last night, this is the one that made me the happiest. I'm not the biggest Miranda fan, but as a huge Keith fan and a huge fan of this song, I am so thrilled it won.
Video of the Year Winner: "Highway Don't Care"- Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift & Keith Urban Winner: "Highway Don't Care"- Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift & Keith Urban
Still wish Carrie's won, but if I had a second choice this would be it.
Vocal Duo Winner: Florida Georgia Line My Pick: Florida Georgia Line
No surprises here and they deserved it. Give it a year or 2 and Dan + Shay or Love and Theft (If their album and singles do well) will beat them out in this category. If they don't beat them they will definitely be tougher competition for them.
Best New Artist Winner: Justin Moore My Pick: Brett Eldredge
I honestly had no idea which way this would go. I initially agreed with a lot of you about Justin Moore's nomination, but after seeing him win I can't be mad. He's earned it. I hope for next year though they go back to having New Female, New Male, and New Duo/Group and then overall new artist.
Single of the Year Winner: "Mama's Broken Heart"- Miranda Lambert My Pick: "Cruise"- Florida Georgia Line
I'm not the biggest FGL fan, but "Cruise" should have won. I know this song is not loved by a lot on here, but sales and stats don't lie. It was huge. The only other song on the list that comes even close was "Wagon Wheel."
Song of the Year Winner: "I Drive Your Truck"- Lee Brice My Pick: "I Drive Your Truck"- Lee Brice
So happy this won! It was also cool of him to shine the spotlight on the songwriters.
Male Vocalist Winner: Jason Aldean My Pick: Jason Aldean
Good choice! He's worked hard and deserves it, especially after being snubbed in the Entertainer of the Year category. I still hope Luke wins this one year.
Vocal Group Winner: The Band Perry My Pick: The Band Perry
I was really happy about this win too and I loved their acceptance speech!
Female Vocal Winner: Miranda Lambert My Pick: Kacey Musgraves
Looks like they are not finished with giving this award to Miranda yet. It's not that I don't like her or that she doesn't deserve it, but like a lot of you have said I just want someone different. I think in order for things to change a girl needs to come in like Carrie or Taylor did and take the industry by storm in all areas. Unfortunately, with the way things are right now it's going to be difficult.
Album of the Year Based On A True Story- Blake Shelton (Will Win) Same Trailer, Different Park- Kacey Musgraves
Figures, I choose Kacey's album for the CMAs and it looses to Blake's and I choose Blake's for the ACMs and it loses to Kacey's. Not really surprised considering the amount of buzz she had after the Grammys and all of the critical acclaim the album has. The only nominated album I have is Luke's, so naturally I wanted him to win, but good for Kacey beating the boys out.
Entertainer of the Year Winner: George Strait My Pick: Luke Bryan
For the CMA's I chose George Strait because it's solidly the industry voting, but here I gave the edge to Luke because of the fan vote. However, there was a part of me that knew George was going to win, because the industry still has a say. If this award was a solid fan vote no doubt Luke would have won. Now I am not disrespecting George Strait or his legacy, because a true fan of country would not do that, but I agree with churchchoir and sabre14 it should have gone to Luke or even Blake. For this year, Luke had George beat in all areas. Now career wise George beats Luke by a mile, in fact more than a mile, but this is not the right award.
As for the show as a whole I enjoyed it. I liked Blake and Luke's monologue better last year, but this wasn't too bad. The Britney Spears joke took it a little far since Jamie Lynn was in the building, but coming from guys that have no problem making fun of themselves, I wouldn't take it too seriously. I thought it was nice of them to give Carrie a shout out for her performance in the Sound Of Music, because I don't think she was given enough credit for it. The comment Luke made about the confetti and the expensive hairdos being messed up was funny and as a Giants fan he got a standing O from me when he dissed the Cowboys. Sorry Cowboys fans. I think Blake and Luke were more comfortable as the night went on. I liked the selfie bit and when they came out dressed as Daft Punk. They had me fooled to the point I was thinking how will they present when they never talk haha.
Performances were good, but nothing really special. Blake and Shakira were stand outs. I might have to purchase that song. Miranda was so much better this year than she was last year. Luke and Keith's performances were solid. The best part of Luke's performance was seeing his wife sing along in the audience. That moment earned a simultaneous "aww" from my sister and I. Tim's performance started off a little slow for me, but picked up once Faith walked out. FGL's first performance was rough, but "This Is How We Roll" was better. I must say that song has become a guilty pleasure for me. Brett sounded great, that guy is a star! Hunter's performance was strong considering that song is very difficult. Lee Brice probably had the best vocal of the night, it's too bad he didn't get to do the whole song. Brad gets the award for the most fun peChurchchoir rformance of the night. I'm really liking his new single! The only performance that was a let down was Rascal Flatts. I've seen them live 4 times and they can sing, so that's why I think there must have been something else going on. The weird thing was you could see Gary ad libbing at the end and you couldn't hear it and you didn't hear the crowd until the very end. It was just very strange.
Those were my thoughts on the show. Next year should be fun for the 50th Anniversary and I'm so glad Blake and Luke are hosting again! :)
Also about Luke's merchandise guy, the way I look at it is that sometimes people say stupid things. I highly doubt Luke would fire him over this though. He'll talk to him, and probably tell him to use his brain the next time he decides to take his aggravation out on twitter, and then put it behind them. He should apologize though. Also I'm not sure if he deleted his account because I follow him on twitter and I can still see it, so I think he just set it to private.

I'm actually seeing a lot of chatter on radio station's facebook pages about the comments relating to George's win last night coming from "Luke Bryan's camp." I have no doubt Luke doesn't appreciate the comments, but his team doesn't need to come off as sore losers and it only hurts him within the industry. I already am of the mind that Luke won't win a major industry award (excluding the ACM Entertainer fan voted win) until his music matures. Songs like "Crash My Party," "That's My Kind of Night," and his current single "Play It Again" will sell lots of copies but aren't going to move that needle in the industry. Anyways, all this to say that Luke will likely have to make some kind of statement addressing comments coming from his "camp." No artist wants to be tied to comments dissing The King.

Entertainer of the Year Winner: George Strait My Pick: Luke Bryan For the CMA's I chose George Strait because it's solidly the industry voting, but here I gave the edge to Luke because of the fan vote. However, there was a part of me that knew George was going to win, because the industry still has a say. If this award was a solid fan vote no doubt Luke would have won.I don't really agree with this actually (the bolded part). George isn't my favorite artist of all-time, but among the nominees, I'd easily vote for him (and I did). And I feel like a lot of other people would be the same. I know I have seen a ton of comments on Facebook or radio station pages in which fans say things/hurl insults like "Luke and Taylor aren't country! King George all the way!" etc. There is a huge chunk of the country music fan-base that has basically been completely shunned/left in the dust by today's country radio, and those people are going to vote for George every time he's nominated, even if they DO somewhat like people like Blake or Luke or Miranda. There's just no way to compare any of the other nominees to George. Simply put, I feel like so many of today's popular artists will just all split the vote...and then you'll have a huge block of people voting for George, because he's George fricken Strait. It's as simple as that. A lot of the people are probably older and not as up-to-date with today's 'country' music but there are a lot of people in my age group (24) that would vote for George every time as well. I agree that he hasn't had the year that others have had, but that's because country radio is ageist, and they don't really play the traditional-style country anymore. So of course George isn't going to score as many hits as the others. But you put his name up against any of them in a head-to-head contest and I think George would win every time, or at least 9/10. The award probably should be about who has had the biggest year but these awards are always subjective.
ETA: Here's info from Country Aircheck regarding Rascal Flatts' lip-synced performance: » Out Of Sync: Some fans were upset when they noticed Rascal Flatts' performance of "Rewind" was lip-synched last night (4/6). In response the band issued the following statement: "After having performed several shows earlier in the week, Gary lost his voice. So, instead of canceling our commitment to do the show, we made a last minute decision to lip-sync. We've never done it before, and we're obviously not very good at it. We look forward to singing live again in the very near future!" In fact, Flatts were planning to perform live at Monday's ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute To The Troops (4/7). It airs May 20 on CBS-TV, so you can see ... and hear ... for yourself.

Rascall Flatts have lip synced before. Remember the horrendous rendition of "She goes all the way" with Jamie Fox? They lip synched in their next live television performance, or one very soon after.
Overall I thought this was a decent show (minus Blake and Luke's pathetic hosting, and the obsession with all things F.G.L., and Miranda winning anything in which her name is mentioned). I thought Kacey's award was beyond deserving, and she looked beautiful. I wish she would have performed. Eric sounded the best I've heard him on Give me Back My Hometown. Seeing Garth back was really neat, David Nail was present. George had a huge presence in the show. Merle looked pissed. Charlie Worsham got a lot of "screen time" from the audience. I'm not a big Miranda fan, but she sounded really good, especially on the Merle tribute. Lee Brice sounded a little shaky on I drive your truck to begin, but really pulled it together after a few seconds. Hunter Hayes is awful live. I've never heard him sing anything live that sounded like his voice wasn't ready to completely fail him. Rascall Flatts, obviously, were not singing. . . most of us knew that though because they were on pitch (something they do not do often when singing live).
I thought there were some great aspects to the show, and some of the awards were well deserved. George probably doesn't deserve entertainer of the year going by the definition of that award, but I'm never disappointed to see the King recognized, especially given the state of today's "country" music. I know several people were upset that the new artists only got to perform a shortened version of a song, but that's how I've always remembered the new artist nominees performing. I know when Eric was up for it, they played a half song. Seems kind of silly since some of them have been popular artists for awhile now. It's like they're quarantined for the duration of the show.
Did anyone else think George should have had a different partner to tribute Merle, like Reba or Martina? Miranda sounded great, but something about her on the same level with George Strait and Merle Haggard rubbed me the wrong way.
Sorry, I know this is pretty disorganized and random, just a few thoughts I had after seeing the show and reading some of the comments here.

If you watch the pop award shows, there's no way on earth someone could sing what they do while moving and dancing and jumping like that. One absolutely cannot sing the trills and runs and auto-tuned stuff live like they pretend to do, especially when gyrating and jumping. I guess it's just an accepted practice in pop because of the expected choreography that comes with the show.
What IS popular for country, however, is to have the music pre-recorded. The band looks like they're playing, but lots of the time they aren't even mic'd, except for maybe the artist if he or she has a lead instrument solo or something.

Kacey Musgraves never should of won for best album with sales a little over 300.000 and radio don't play any of her music .Im sorry I just don't get it she is being pushed by the industry and not worth it . If she head lined her own tour she could not even come close to selling out any venue. Im jot the least bit impressed with her or her music.
