^I remembered that post as well. The "-Eric" at the end of it implies (at least to me) that he posted that particular update himself. But it wouldn't surprise me if the vast majority of the other posts associated with that account are actually made by people on his team instead (with his approval). Yes, I think you're exactly right. But that is why I found it odd he said he has never been on FB nor will he ever. Just seemed weird to me.

Even with the "-Eric" at the end, I highly doubt he wrote or had anything to do with that Facebook post. His management probably added that to make it seem more personal and empathetic to the fans that were having the iTunes issues.
I think he's just saying that he has no interest in using social media to share personal updates or provide commentary on things like a lot of celebrities do. Using it as a marketing tool to communicate and share information with fans is different.
I find it really interesting that all of the singles have been picked out pre-release with a continuing video storyline sketched out. Further cements my belief that Eric and his team knew exactly what they were doing with the release of "The Outsiders" as the lead off single. It seems unconventional and peculiar at first, releasing such a polarizing single that not surprisingly fizzles in the 20s. But I really don't think they expected it to be a radio hit. While I'm not saying Eric is as big of an "outlaw" as he may try to portray, I respect his convictions and handle he has on his career.

I've been saying this forever. Many feel Eric is a rebel and outlaw for getting kicked off a major tour. Even though I love Eric's music, it was incredibly egotistical to do that. There are so many people outside of himself he was effecting..."Rascal Flatts", "Their Label", "His Label" (I'm sure Capitol Nashville would rather not have their artist kicked off a major tour), and "The Venue". Thousands of dollars by the minute in labor fees is an amazing amount.

Interesting that this story comes out right around the same time as Eric's album release. Convenient timing for some extra publicity.

Heard this on the radio yesterday for the first time (and twice, no less), and I liked it more than "The Outsiders," but that's about all I can say for it. The lyrics are much better, but I found his voice incredibly annoying on this song, though that's unsurprising as I dislike his voice and the production, although toned down a great deal from the heavy metal of his last release, was still overbearing at times and I felt like it competed with his voice. With a different vocalist and production treatment I might actually like this one, but as is... I'll pass.

I love everything about this song except for the underwhelming chorus. Hometown nostalgia songs always work for me. And again, Jay Joyce is my favorite producer in Nashville, and he knocks it out of the park again. I don't get the complaints about Eric's voice.

This song is such a grower. I was completely unimpressed the first time I heard it, but it grows on me so much with each listen.

I'm with zaclord on this song. I didn't hate it, but I didn't know whether to like it or not. The lack of a substantial chorus really put me off on those first couple listens. But ever since around the premier of the music video I started to really enjoy it and with each passing listen it seems like I'm singing along just a little bit more. I recall jaseboyhyde pointing out "Sinners Like Me" in that it's entire chorus is "La dee da dee da's, and I adore that song. In fact it might be my all time favorite from Eric. I have for the most part looked past the lack of a lyrical chorus with "Give Me Back My Hometown". I can't remember the last time a single grew on me this much.

The lack of a real chorus in this one has never bothered me, and I actually really like all the "whoas" and "ohs" in this one, much like I loved them in "Springsteen".
Eric's voice here sounds really good and he sounds vulnerable at all the right times. I have always loved his voice but he really takes things up another notch here vocally. And the production...once again, Jay Joyce hits it out of the park.

Looks like they were right with the "One will rise, One will fall" prediction (If we were accurate in our assessment that the statement was in reference to the two first singles from the new album). Both songs getting the CC treatment debuted with a bang. This one is making a steady climb, already in the top 15. The outsiders debuted and peaked at number 25 and began a slow descent. I'm pretty sure this was the plan all along...This song is performing nicely and gaining lots of listeners at the right time, with "The Outsiders" slated to hit shelves this Monday.

Mother's Day (May 11th) is 11 weeks from Sunday, and I certainly expect him to be #1 by then, which would mark an 18-week trek to #1, although he could certainly get there a week or two faster.

As a big enough Eric Church fan to name my Pulse profile after his fan club, I have to say this song has really lost my interest over the past month or so. I enjoy the production and as always Eric's vocals are great, but the chorus does nothing for me and the whole theme of the song is actually pretty cliche. I've also found Eric's album to be pretty underwhelming. There are some interesting songs on there, but this doesn't hold a candle to Chief or any of Church's previous albums. Other than "Talladega," (another song with good production/vocals but a horribly trite theme) I have no idea what singles they could release. It appears Eric was trying to go for a shock effect with some of his songs rather than impressing listeners with real substance, and unfortunately this appears to have worked pretty well. My hope is actually that Eric will move on to a new album quickly after maybe one more single, but given the high album sales I don't know how likely that is.
I've been pretty disappointed with a lot of artists lately and there are few still having consistent mainstream success whom I can consistently root for. The only ones still scoring hit after hit on the charts whom I can think of off the top of my head are Dierks Bentley, Randy Houser, and Keith Urban. I was pretty big on FGL, but their deluxe edition album went too heavy on the hip hop for me. I'd like to be able to root for Frankie Ballard, Cole Swindell, and Dan + Shay, but we'll have to see how their future singles climb the charts.

I'm kind of in the same boat with this song. I want to really root for it, but it doesn't catch my attention. I can't sing with it when it comes on, and I get bored with it about halfway through. I guess I'm always hoping for the next 'Springsteen' from him, but it may never happen.

^I'm glad I'm not the only one losing a feel for this song. I realized it the other day when it came on the radio and I found myself bored. I really enjoyed this when it first came out, but looking back I think it was the video that pulled me in. I thought it was awesome and made the song. I really, really want to like this and for it to do well. That said, I'm kind of ready for another single.

I am a big fan so I look forward to the next single. I can see it going 4-5 deep

I'm one of those who the song has grown somewhat (I wasn't a fan of the oh, ohs)-maybe mostly because I miss hearing Eric on the air waves, and am constantly switching my radio over to AUX to listen to my IPOD because of all the Bro-country, as well as other songs that have been around forever and forever being spun to death. I really like the album, although not as much as Chief either, which has to be one of my all genre, all time favorite albums. I guess that is what happens when you put out a masterpiece -difficult to top it. I do wish he hadn't put the waste of space Devil, Devil (and its monologue) in there-it seems odd to me to skip songs on an EC album Talladega will be a great radio smash-great sound, hook, but certainly not the great lyrical content I expect from him. My favorite song has become Man Who Was Going to Die Young-just because it is a quiet EC moment among some of the noise (as much as I really do like the different unique sound of Cold One and others)- same with Fuse, I love Raise em Up and Cop Car-quiet respite among the 'busier' songs. Sometimes I play an album to death too when I first get it and have to let it rest for a while before I enjoy it again; that may be the case with The Ousiders

This is far and away my least favorite album from Eric. I personally enjoyed his first two albums even more than Chief, but Chief still produced some fantastic songs - "Springsteen", "Like Jesus Does", "Over When It's Over", "Drink In My Hand", "Creepin'". This album has "Give Me Back My Hometown" (which I enjoy more with every listen) and "Talladega" and that's it. "Talladega" needs to be a single but after that, I'm not sure what will happen

This may be a bit too soon to call, but I predict Eric will get a Mediabase-only #1 with this song, blocked by a combination of the BG and FGL songs. It'll probably be a scenario where Eric gets passed by FGL at the last minute and does a big push just to leap-frog ahead of BG and FGL to get #1 on Mediabase while Brantley gets his first week at #1 on Billboard. That will allow Brantley to get two weeks at #1 on Billboard before FGL takes over. I know it's unfair, considering Frankie Ballard, Dierks Bentley, and Randy Houser are all probably going to get Billboard #1's with songs that really aren't selling too well while Eric can have a song in the top 5 on iTunes for all these weeks and still get blocked, but that's just the way the positions look like they're going to work out unless Brantley and Florida Georgia Line suddenly start to slam on the brakes or Eric does a massive three-week push. In the big scheme of things, it's all pretty trivial. No one's going to make any less money if this song is only #1 on Mediabase, but I guess for obsessive chart-watchers like myself, it can seem like a big deal when something like this happens, even though in reality I doubt many folks are even going to remember such specific information.

I certainly have no problems whatsoever with Eric's voice under any circumstances, and especially since three of my favorite male country vocalists (Tracy Lawrence, Charley Pride and Dwight Yoakam) have equally distinctive voices of their own and Lawrence in particular.
This is one of my very favorite songs on the radio right now, and I'm really looking forward to it reaching #1, perhaps by the end of next month.

For those wondering about the possible follow-up to this song...
iHeart Radio Setlist for Eric Church tonight:
The Outsiders Give Me Back My Hometown Smoke A Little Smoke Cold One Springsteen
Looking like "Cold One" and that's great to hear.

Looks like my prediction about this getting blocked by BG and/or FGL is going to be wrong, possibly way off. FGL has only moved up two spaces this week on Mediabase and Brantley's bullet has cooled way down. Eric is co-hosting Lon Helton's show April 19 & 20, so he'll probably collect the Billboard #1 on April 21 (chart dated 5/5) with the extra spin gain that weekend.
I really hope "Cold One" comes nowhere near radio. It is such an annoying song imo. "Talladega" seemed like the obvious third single to me. I really hope this era runs short and Eric sends out new material within the next year.

I love Cold One, but agree it isn't a good radio single the more I listen to it-unless major editing is done to get rid of some of the funky instrumentals-then it could work. I would be shocked if they don't release Talladega, that seems like his 'summer song'. Maybe Man Who Dies Young after Talladega, then possibly Roller coaster.......can't imagine anything else being radio material.

I really hope this era runs short and Eric sends out new material within the next year.Considering Eric hasn't even announced his tour yet, I think this era will likely run 5 or even 6 singles deep. It seems like he's wanting to extend the era for a while. There's at least 3 more songs I could see doing well as singles: "Cold One," "Talladega," and "Broke Record". Based on "Cold One" being the only non-single Eric performed at iHeartRadio last night, I could definitely see that one becoming the next single. I think the next one will be either "Cold One" or "Talladega". If they removed the funky instrumentals then "Cold One" would not work for me as a song. The lyrics are pretty blah, but I absolutely love the funky instrumentals. That's what gives the song its personality and uniqueness. I can't see "A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young" working as a radio single - it's just too slow. I could possibly see "Roller Coaster Ride" being a single, though. I don't think Eric is going to have a lot of #1 singles this era, but I'm okay with that. If getting a #1 single means releasing sound-alike material like everyone else has been lately, then I'd rather he not worry about hitting #1.
