New (old) interview: releasing new Pop and country singles first few months of the new year !It is important to remember that Kelly did that interview before announcing her pregnancy. She may have not wanted to give anything away by saying "no, I am going to be taking a little bit of time off...for no reason at all, not because I just got married and could end up pregnant..." So the idea could still be there, that they have some material, but the date of release could very well end up being pushed back until after the baby is born.

I'm still holding out hope that something with Miguel comes to fruition. I'd kill to hear Kelly on a song like "Primetime." Same.

This is all speculations, but I think the reason Kelly hasn't gotten a big pop collaboration yet depends on the artist in question. It's certainly not for lack of trying on her part, she actually got borderline desperate at one point in talking about how much she wanted to work with other artists. She seems to fit so naturally with the country crowd even though she's not trying to permanently root herself there, it really is no wonder so many of them love the idea of working with her. Her personality, singing style, and type of work ethic naturally meshes with most other country singers; from the outside they tend not to be as hung up on star status; and it seems easier for her to coordinate schedules with them. With pop though I believe it's a combination of schedules not lining up, most pop artists only considering collaborations from a super-smash-potential point of view, and the fact that Kelly could sing almost anyone under the table. Based on the things Kelly herself has said it seems that her interest in reaching out to other people started in 2009-10, so coming off the AIEW era she might not have seemed like the 'coolest' person to work with. That probably isn't an issue now, but if I were a singer I still wouldn't want to sing with Kelly - because I'd be too afraid of ME looking like the uncool one and being embarrassed! I remember debating sending a tape to Duets but I never would have picked her as my choice of duet partner b/c I just...whatever slim chance I would have had of being chosen would have evaporated when comparing my voice to hers. I hope that doesn't sound like me being a conceited fan, I think it's just reality; pop stars tend to be simultaneously vain and insecure, and mixed with being in an inherently competitive genre, if one is the type of person to feel even the least bit threatened or to turn a duet into a vocal sparring match, then a collaboration with Kelly is not a good idea. I think P!nk respects and likes Kelly as an artist but as a fellow Virgo I sense that she is a bit put out by Kelly's unbridled Taurean openness lol. So there may be a little of that as well, and yet another reason Kelly ends up working with country artists all the time - she might just be too damn friendly for her own good. Pop is not really a friendly genre b/c of the above competitiveness and vanity I mentioned, and Kelly has talked about that before as well, regarding the difference between pop and country award shows. If they won't even speak to people outside of their circles at an award show I cannot imagine how hard it is to get to know someone well enough any other time and work out something. I think a lot of collaborations end up being label-arranged for this very reason, so Kelly should probably aim to work with other Sony artists and let the execs do most of the work for her. I do wish she would work with Demi, that is one where Kelly is the one holding things up instead of the other way around b/c if Kelly called her at 2 in the morning Demi would be in Nashville by 4:30 lol. I'm not quite sure what type of song I want for them but for some reason a soundtrack single is what I see working best. I kind of want a Carrie duet but the fan wars would be such a mess, and it's all but a given that it would be a non-crossover country song. She has enough of that. I'm still holding out hope that something with Miguel comes to fruition. I'd kill to hear Kelly on a song like "Primetime." I agree with everything you said in this post. I would love a Demi collaboration some time in the near future considering how much love Demi has for Kelly. I would also love a Miguel collaboration as well. It would definitely bode well and would practically automatically get a performance slot at the Grammys haha I agree many pop collaborations are label arranged, which is why I'm surprised Kelly hasn't done one yet. I'm assuming most of Christina Aguilera's most recent collaborations with A Great Big World, Gaga and Pitbull were all label-arranged too. The things I don't agree with you are the fact people are scared of singing with Kelly. After watching her perform with Reba, The Fray, Jason Aldean and with her other peers on Duets, it's obvious to the public that Kelly compliments just about everyone and is able to step back and harmonize with whoever is singing with her. She's hardly the type to purposely out-sing her duet partner most noted in Don't You Wanna Stay. She's fully capable of stepping back and taking a more gentle approach like she did in Little Green Apples with Robbie Williams or even on Because of You with Reba. Another thing I don't exactly agree with is the timing of schedules. In this day and age, a lot and I mean A LOT of collaborations are not done in the same studio or at the same time. Rihanna is featured in so many songs it's ridiculous and she's always busy with something. A lot of times the track is already finished and only the hook needs to be recorded and they can do that from anywhere at whichever studio. Heck, Jordin Sparks even said in an interview that she recorded her parts for No Air first and then they sent the track over to Chris Brown and he added his parts in and look how that song turned out. They were never in the studio at the same time to record it. So my argument is that despite the whole "schedules not lining up" debate goes, I think it's not a valid excuse for not pursuing more collaborations especially in between albums when Kelly isn't actively promoting her own material. It's a great way to keep her name and brand out there in the general public until her next project is ready. If P!nk can get Eminem, Lily Allen and Nate Ruess of fun. to collaborate with, I'm sure Kelly is quite capable of pursuing artists to collaborate with.

Not sure what you're implying but Olly Murs is still big in the UK, Pink's TTAL was one of the best selling female albums in 2013 (even when it was released in 2012) and Wake Me Up, I Need Your Love, Clarity and Stay The Night were all huge songs last year (Guetta is pretty much over now so I'll give you that). Unless that's not what you're talking about.

- A greatest hits album
- A Christmas Album
- A televised Christmas Special
- Singing at the Presidential Inauguration
- Plus all the promo that went into the Greatest Hits/Stronger/Christmas era.
- Wedding Coverage
- A new, baby Clarkson!
anything missing?
She did Divas again in 2012 when she performed Catch My Breath (the one where Adam Lambert somehow got the hosting gig haha) Huh? Did I really not know about that? wth is wrong with me lol. Anyway, I forgot about "Little Green Apples" too. I totally agree. I think she needs to hop on a hot EDM song pronto omg no. 2000 and late. I really want her to work with Jeff Bhasker I think they could make some magic together, why not sure? but i do. Finally a good suggestion! For some reason I thought she already had worked with him (probably because P!nk did and P!nk always copies Kelly's producers). But anyway, yea.

If P!nk can get Eminem, Lily Allen and Nate Ruess of fun. to collaborate with, I'm sure Kelly is quite capable of pursuing artists to collaborate with. oh hai new guy! I haven't seen you around before (I had an account before this that I deleted so don't let the join date confuse you). Just to clarify the reason why I say people are 'scared' of singing with Kelly isn't really so much about Kelly. Like I said, I feel a lot of pop stars are vain/insecure/hyper-competitive, and this in particular holds with female artists who are accustomed to being pitted against each other in articles and award nominations, so even with Kelly being as nonthreatening as she can possibly be there may still be some hesitation there. Like, Katy was perfectly fine writing for Kelly but would she be okay singing with Kelly? I have a feeling she either would shy away from it or would be advised to stay away to save face, which is kind of unfortunate b/c Katy isn't (always) a bad singer and I think those two could come up with something cool together. And about the schedules thing, I remember Kelly saying she reached out to both Lil Wayne and Bruno but they were both busy at the time...or at least that is what she was told. They could have just generally been blowing her off - well, Lil Wayne could very well have been on his way to jail depending on the timing so who really knows with him. I forgot about the fact that a lot of collabos are recorded in pieces ("Airplanes" with B.o.B. and Hayley from Paramore is another example of that), but even so I am not sure Kelly is the kind of person who would be down for that, you know? She has met and become friends with all her country partners, and from what I can tell remains in regular contact with every one of them. This isn't nearly as common in pop (friendships like Katy/Ri or Taylor/Selena are kind of rare, I think) and may be a hurdle for her when it comes to working with someone who is accustomed to recording parts and sending them over to be pieced together by some engineer. I think this is another reason why Miguel is a good idea for her though, b/c I think he also likes to actually be in the studio with whoever he is recording with. And Miguel is on RCA's urban subdivision so there is NO reason why this cannot or should not happen!

Wow, I would LOVE for her to be the vocalist on a hot EDM song. That could be big, most recently are at least top 20 hits. And yeah, a Demi collab IMO is somewhere in the future. Eminem, as stated on page 1, would ROCK but is so unlikely

Could someone please get rid of the 'probably vomiting' part of the thread's title deleted? It does not belong here. We all know Kelly Clarkson is pregnant and having morning sickness. Thanks!

I am here from now to eternity for a Zedd collab. He's one of the few popular EDM producers who gets singers/melodies, and even though Stay the Night is the most vanilla song in eternity, it's still leaps and bounds better than some of the generic stuff Guetta and Calvin Harris are devolving into. Kelly on a big huge Matthew Koma-written hook, something like Clarity? My god, bow down. It sounds like he's going to a more diverse sound for his next album as well, and his acoustic iTunes Session EP is unreal, like red meat for a vocalist.
It has to be the right song, with the right artist, but it would be a fun change of pace from her usual sound. Just ONE is all I ask.
I also wouldn't mind if she explored a rawer 80s/90s synth sound like Tegan & Sara's Heartthrob., like a more amped up "You Love Me."

Yes I agree with countryhistorian. "Probably vomitting" is a little speculative. Now we have this new interview, could we possibly switch it to "vomits a good dozen times a day" please?

I personally think it's about time someone has enough courage to show people, young girls especially, the plights of pregnancy. I fully expect her statements to reduce the number of teenage pregnancies in the U.S. & think it is a great start for her campaign to sainthood.

This week not only did WIR stay in top 10 and has sold 764K in US and over 870,000 copies worldwide, her hits album remains in Top 200 selling another 8,000 copies this week. US Sales should be at 555,000 US and depending on what website you follow should be 900-950K worldwide
:) Not bad 13.3 million US and estimates could be 25-28 million worldwide :)

Country EP this Summer, followed by first Pop single November 2014, followed by Pop album January 2014 please. This but, I'm hoping Pop continues heading in the direction of the hip hop beats and a more urban sound so Kelly can finally ditch her dated pop/rock niche and record a pop/R&b/soul album. Real R&B, not the whitewashed "Thankful" kind. Get the Miguel collab, Darkchild song and Lil Wayne feature. She can call up 'Tasia or Hudson too. Drake would be nice, something like "Take Care" but with the female part being even more dominant. Lorde can write a couple songs for her to add to the diversity Kelly fans crave so much. Hell even the fan-desired duets of P!nk and Adele could fit perfectly within the album. Obviously, I want a Bey & Mariah collab. But an album like that almost sounds to perfect to ever happen. :(

I think the greatest aspect of her doing a separate country thing is it will keep it out of the pop record, which I'm hoping will open up some space for all of that. Also hoping she got a bit of her genre-hopping out of her system with Wrapped In Red. I want groove & flow.

I'm not here for January album releases. I wouldn't mind following the AIEW release schedule, without the leak though. Single in January of 2015 with album in March.
