No "ungrateful" comments in Luke's posting history. I just skimmed through. (Not that anyone here thought it'd be there anyway, ha.)

I could've sworn I read on here him saying "I could've given her a hit" or something like that. He got jumped on real quick.

With the exception of IDNHU (IMO), Howard Benson is great as well!!! Cry, DLMSY, LS, Ready, CAN WE GO BACK, BYOH, TSWR -> just realized she kept him for Stronger - I hope she did/does some rock with him!
She can stop recording mediocore songs with Toby Gad btw...

MORE. BENSON. All those songs you listed would have been better without him.

WOW! Y'all must hate the half of AIEW then?
I have a different perception then (except for IDNHU - on that song I fully agree with y'all).
What I love about his production is that he lets Kelly be the lion that she is! She unleashes her inner animal in these songs! The choruses are killer and she sings these incredibly high notes (unfortunatley too much) in the background!
In comparison to... yeah Toby Gad's productions or 'Mr. Know It All' etc. in which Kelly sounds like a lion just meowing!

Toby Gad didn't produce "Mr Know It All." He is responsible for the production and writing on "The War is Over" and "Einstein". The former is arguably the best song off of Stronger, and the latter has disastrous lyrics but awesome, funk-rock production that Kelly should experiment with more. There are many producers and writers I hope Kelly never works with again, but Toby Gad is not one of them-- his work on Stronger production-wise is nothing short of perfect.

^ I said Gad's productions (these 2 songs) and listed MKIA as another example for Kelly not showing her full potential.
Anyway I'd love her to continue experimenting with Kurstin.
Also I'd love her to explore more the 80s (You Love Me, Alone) and synthpop (Honestly) while going back to her rockier (Hear Me) and deeper (Addicted) roots. Some room for PopRock, the genre that made her famous and songs like 'Just Missed The Train' and 'Breakaway' that have something dreamy and chilling about them, would be epic!

I remember the one time that he DRAGGED! P!nk's management team because they chose Stupid Girl over both of their eventual produced releases. He went off because he felt like it was their fault Who Knew was failing.

Benson's production gives the impression that he doesn't know what those equalizer buttons actually do. I love ALL the songs he's done though, both lyrically and melodically. So it's kind of weird b/c I have a feeling it's entirely coincidence that he keeps landing these really great tunes that even his screwy equalizer settings can't ruin. I remember the one time that he DRAGGED! P!nk's management team because they chose Stupid Girl over both of their eventual produced releases. He went off because he felt like it was their fault Who Knew was failing. Ok, those posts he did not delete. I remember him also being pissed that they sent out Who Knew second - he felt it should have been third b/c he was convinced it needed an upbeat hit to happen before it (SG was not that hit, in his mind) and had pushed for U+Ur Hand to be second. Was kind of fatalistic about her career before WK finally took off, anda bit smug about it when he was proven right. Damn that he apparently deleted most of his worst stuff though. That lends a bit more weight to the tumblr post.

Everything Benson does is TOO LOUD. LIKE OMG I CAN'T EVEN HEAR WHAT'S HAPPENING BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS TOO LOUD. I agree. I still love the songs she did with him but the production was SO loud. Her vocals are watered down with guitars and unnecessary layers of background vocals. Cry should have had some sort of buildup instead of being so loud right off the bat. I agree, I really love Toby's work and would love if Kelly worked with him again. He's got kind of a common sound in his ballads with the way they're arranged and build up (listen to Jordin Sparks' Let It Rain, Beyonce's If I Were A Boy, Kris Allen's The Truth), but I love it. He has a good bit of variety in his up tempos. Pretty much all of the producers on Stronger did a great job of showcasing Kelly's voice (even Howard on BYOH pulled back on the loudness). ^ I said Gad's productions (these 2 songs) and listed MKIA as another example for Kelly not showing her full potential. Anyway I'd love her to continue experimenting with Kurstin. Some room for PopRock, the genre that made her famous and songs like 'Just Missed The Train' and 'Breakaway' that have something dreamy and chilling about them, would be epic! I don't think the producers did anything wrong on MKIA though, I think that one captures her live voice pretty well (although it sounds like she was tired when she recorded it because the live performances are much better, she sounds a lot stronger on them). I'd love some darker stuff on the next album, on the lines of Hear Me, Honestly, Addicted, etc. Even The Day We Fell Apart had a sort of dark feel to it.

in 5 days Is the show any good? I don't know it. Also, it's awesome that Kelly's in episodes with the biggest audience (Nashville comes back after a break ( over 5 million people should watch it ), Crazy Ones pilot (it lost 50% of its audience - now (7.5 million) compared to the pilot (15 million)) Poor Kelly! She's probably the first person I hear having so many problems during a pregnancy :/

If we're talking old producers she could consider working with again, I'd much prefer Max Martin to Dr. Luke. Not sure what he's like personality-wise, but he is at least capable of bringing an artist forward (Taylor Swift)...but also guilty of serving them the same old shit (Pink). It'd be interesting to hear what a Kelly/Max collab sounded like, and I'm sure it'd be great if it's fresh, and not just the umpteenth variation of SUBG.
But I'm thrilled she's so on board with Kurstin. His work on Stronger was great, on Wrapped In Red even better, and he has a pretty diverse portfolio (his stuff with Lily Allen and Tegan & Sara is very different, and equally strong).

I feel like there's a disparity here between blaming producers and blaming songwriters. I concur that Benson-produced songs don't have the strongest mixes (which could be attributed to his engineers rather than Benson himself), but the songs themselves are among her best non-singles (Cry, LS, DLMSY). Toby Gad has the opposite problem. His mixes are much more pleasant on the ears, but Einstein's lyrics and the TWIO's melody are some of the weakest in her catalog.
Kurstin is probably the best producer she's worked with overall. Great songs with little tendency to repeat himself. I think he'd make a great executive producer for her next album, while still throwing some fresh blood in here or there. Still holding out for a sexy Danja collab, although that's unlikely since she's gonna be a mom. The absolute last thing I want is for her to make generic, sleepy AC pop rock that renders her totally irrelevant from Top 40 radio.

Sorry if this is out of line, I'm still a new poster and not exactly sure if this is okay to put here. I recently did a couple videos on YouTube predicting the winners for several categories for the Grammys this year (I did it last year too) and I figured I'd share with you my thoughts for the category Kelly's nominated for, which is "Best Country Duo/Group Performance".
Do you guys think she has a shot?! I'd love if she could pick up her 4th win!

My cousins have been VERY sick throughout their whole pregnancies. It doesn't look fun :( It's like having the flu... for 9 months.
Oh, and Nashville has its ups and downs, but overall I really like the show. It's more of a drama (with some comedy) but it looks like the part she is in is rather dramatic. I'm so excited that she's getting these offers to do the shows - it's a nice change to see her doing scripted stuff rather than the talk shows (though her interviews are perfect - I'm glad she's mixing it up)

January 7, 2014 Do we know how many copies were actually sold in Canada ? last numbers were 38000 as of the 19th of dec, so If she was selling based on previous weeks I'd say it would be at 75000 but that is only an estimate based on position the album was at and previous weeks sales. :) I believe her studio albums have all gone platinum in Canada, and Hits went gold Thankful (#5 peak) 100,000+ Breakaway (#6 peak) 500,000+ My December (#2 peak) 100,000 All I ever wanted (#2 peak) 88,000+ Stronger (#4 peak) 91,300+ Hits (#15 peak) 58,100+ Wrapped in Red (#5 peak) certified for 80,000
