Is there any info on her role? She could play Cookie's sister...

She will be featured on the season finale of FOX's hit show, Empire. She will also be featured on the soundtrack on a song called "Shake Down" with Terrance Howard. (And before someone asks, I'm pretty sure it's not the same one from "Growing Pains.") vevo.ly/J45lAN

Yeah so...apparently, it was the same song and she only performed it for a couple seconds. Wasted opportunity. There wasn't even any backstory as to what she was doing, besides being there during Andre's Santa Clause act LOL.

Her appearance on Empire was so fleeting and irrelevant it may as well haven't happened. Did her "character" even have a name??

I like her version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" on the Nina Simone tribute album. I'd love her to work more with Robert Glasper for her next album. I think he could bring out that My Life sound without being regressive.

I'm so disappointed in Mary. The album wasn't all that and she didn't promote it. Welp

I wish Mary showed her lighter side more. People only expect one thing from her, so whenever she shows something else on a "larger" scale, it's received like "who is she trying to be," "who does she think she is," "that's not the Mary I know/want." She is actually a really funny personality. She made an appearance on the season finale of SpikeTV's Lipsync Battle to support her friend, Taraji P. Henson during her performance of "Just Fine." Taylor Swift brought Mary out at her LA show, and they performed "Doubt" and "Family Affair." Crossover white-girl realness queen!! Taylor actually sounded good singing "Doubt," but once Mary came out, those lungs couldn't compete. Mary killed. She hates "Family Affair," but because this crowd goes up for it, she can never stop performing it.

I was pretty "meh" at Taylor having her perform Doubt first but I got crunk when FA dropped!

Well reach out to the Beckys then Mary! Promote! Will we get the Third Coming of Mary J to the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10?

I'd love for Mary J. Blige to finally get another Hot 100 hit. It'd be incredible if "Doubt" was the single out of the 4 (alongside "Therapy" "Whole Damn Year" and the #1 dance hit "Right Now") to be the most successful - general public-wise.

I was on Fire Island two weeks ago and Just Fine came on at Tea...what a jam! I had to remind myself to download once I got home.

Every time I've seen her has been a religious experience! You dance, you FEEL, you sing, you scream, and you leave DRAINED! Last time I saw her, one of my friends who doesn't even like her came with some of her other friends who casually like her, and bought nosebleed seats because they were cheap---they were believers when I bumped back into them at the end of the night.

Glad she's finally doing a tour of sorts, especially since there doesn't seem to have been once since The London Sessions was released.

Do we think she'll get any love from the Grammys for the London Sessions? The album kind of came and went but it got a lot of love from critics last year.

I didn't remember the reviews being that great, but I just checked and the album has a 74 score on Metacritic. So yeah she could be in for a couple R&B Grammy noms. "Whole Damn Year" deserves one for sure.

I hope she has a shot at finally getting her own Album of the Year nod. If they do, they could also get Sam Smith and everyone else involved!

The iTunes ad is one of three to be released over the next two months. The third "will likely tug at your heartstrings."
The goal is to target urban audiences, [particularly black women, who are usually never targeted] into taking an active interest in streaming/legally downloading music; so take the stars of two of the biggest shows on TV right now, and pair them with a staple for urban music fans, and voila.
I only wish Mary had some new music that she could sneak into the commercial. When she did her first iTunes ad during the Growing Pains era featuring "Work That," the song hit like #2 or 3 on the main chart. It'd be nice if the third commercial had them sitting around listening to a Mary playlist.

Is she performing any songs off the "Think Like a Man, Too" album during this tour? Or is it mainly "The London Sessions"?
