No, I'm genuinely ignorant. Yeah, I had no clue who Disclosure was either. I thinking they were another of those classic 80s/90s rock bands like Depeche Mode or Pet Shop Boys, and this announced collaboration was another unique mainstream one for Mary (like her ones w/U2, Travis Barker, etc). However, it looks like they're a relatively new EDM band that released their first album "Settle" last year:

Disclosure and EDM do not belong in the same sentence. They're a deep house/ electronic act that are about as far away from Avicii or Benny Benassi as it gets.

Yeah, Disclosure is only known in certain circles. They aren't exactly mainstream, so I am not surprised that people don't know who they are. They aren't really my style of music, so I have ignored them up until now. I did like that ITUNES free song they put out though. I forget the name but it was pretty hot. Their work with Mary should be good. It's about time Mary did something a little different.

No, I'm genuinely ignorant. I must admit I was kinda late discovering them, too. Their remix of Jessie Ware's "Running" is what made me interested. I purchased the album a few months ago and I've been addicted ever since. Very excited about them working with Mary.

I don't know about Mary venturing into Electronic music. We all know how the public reacts to R&B acts selling out.

Deep house is heavily influenced by R&B, so I really don't see the issue, especially when you consider Mary's success in the clubs with many of her remixes.

She's venturing out of her comfort zone with a critically acclaimed act that's fresh in style and innovative in approach. They're nowhere near the top of the charts so it's not like she's trend hopping. This isn't David Guetta we're talking about.

It's about an R&B act doing EDM. It doesn't sit well with the public. She may get a critical hit, but no sales. Trust and believe.

Mary's done music that's a lot closer to what you're considering EDM (her dance remix album in 2002, working with will.i.am on a dance song in 2010) than the type of music Disclosure does. Her Urban credibility is still in tact. If she went and recorded an album executive produced by David Guetta and will.i.am, I might somewhat agree with you. Doing a remix to a Disclosure song is not going to negatively affect her Urban cred.

I was assuming people wanted Disclosure to produce her whole record here like I've seen on another board. Sorry!

Mary has done all types of music.. from Pop, rock, country, jazz, gospel and EDM. Her credibility isn't going anywhere. This is no different that her remix album (Dance for me) and Let no man put usunder. Didn't anyone complain about her "selling out" when she did an entire album back then. She's good.

It's about an R&B act doing EDM. It doesn't sit well with the public. Let's be honest here. By the "public" you mean it doesn't sit well with YOU. You have an elitist attitude about R&B but guess what? There are other wonderful genres out there too and fusion is not always a bad thing. Also, as has been said Disclosure is no more EDM than Usher is rap or Maroon 5 is alternative. What hit? She's not even trying for a hit. This is a one off remix of a song that was already a UK single months ago. Trust and believe it's not that serious.

This was one of my favourites from the album, and I definitely understand estimated the remix's potential. I think I like it even more now.

Yes, I may be somewhat of an elitist but that is besides the point. When I talked about the "public" I referred exactly to Usher's last album. Wasn't that a proven failure for him? Having said that, I admittedly didn't know any of their music but I listened and love this remix and I think she sounds amazing on it. Chapeau. I still don't know if I'd want a whole MJB album produced by them though as you do. That is all.

^ Yes, I agree with your last sentence, I wouldn't want an album with a lot of dance songs - I like my R&B/Hip Hop Soul Mary best - but just one quality house jam like this remix would be cool. I just listened and I love it, I'll have to download this!
