I really want some Te Amo s**t in this video. I have a feeling that it's going to be a great collab. Rihanna hardly drops the ball with her features. I love the clever title but Shakira has always had weird ass titles. "Laundry Service"??? "Oral Fixation"?? This is nothing new. ??? Elvis had a #1 country song titled "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" - so this is hardly clever, weird or original. Or the unreleased #1 that never was- "Keep On Forgetting To Forget About You" by Jojo.

Shakira music is more quality than Christina's body of work ? ha laughable lol Well, if we go by what the critics think. Here are the average album scores of all the divas on metacritic. The current high is a tie between Shakira and Sade, at 78. Christina is near the bottom with a 58. That speaks for itself. Metacritic Artist (Average career score: Music)Shakira 78Sade 78Taylor Swift 75Dixie Chicks 73Shania Twain 72Madonna 72Adele 72P!nk 71Mary J. Blige 71Beyonce 70Alicia Keys 69Kylie Minogue 67Rihanna 67Kelly Clarkson 66Carrie Underwood 65Celine Dion 65Lady Gaga 65Avril Lavigne 64Britney Spears 62Whitney Houston 59Janet Jackson 59Mariah Carey 59Miley Cyrus 59Christina Aguilera 58Katy Perry 53jennifer Lopez 53Ppl always complain about XTINA not being able to score a solo hit in years and has to depend on collabos...couldn't the same be said for Shakira ? the last big hit she had in North America was Beautiful Liar. .. ..seems like she can't score a big lead hit single on her own anymore.... Beyonce..Gaga..Miley...Katy none of them released lead singles with support acts on it because they are confident enough to know their music will sell...unfortunately Shakira seems to know well enough her appeal in the U.S has dimished.. What you fail to see is that Shakira's release schedule is vastly different from what the other divas are doing. Could Beyonce, Miley, Gaga, Katy & Christina survive releasing an album every 3-4 years? Maybe, but we'll never know. That's what Shakira does. First, she release an English album, then a Spanish album then she goes on a massive world tour of arenas and stadiums all over the world. After that, she's drained and takes a sabbatical year. After that sabbatical year, she starts to work on music again and the cycle starts all over again. The gap between her English albums is so large that interest in her always reduces. Now, let's discuss what you claim, that her appeal in the U.S has diminished. It hasn't at all, at least not in the way you think. Interest in her always surges when an era starts, then it diminishes when the era is over and she disappears. Interest in her right now is actually a little higher than it typical is before an era stars. Here are the google interest stats to prove my point: Worldwide Google Web Search Trends (2004-Present)www.google.com/trends/explore#q=%2Fm%2F01wj18h&cmpt=qLooking at her past, Shakira is currently in great shape. Comparing her to Christina isn't really relevant because their careers are very different. Shakira's team is well aware of Shakira's popularity trends. When they promote Shakira's "return" they usually give the lead single huge promo to remind people that Shakira is back. For the She Wolf single, the debut of the song was promoted like an album release. They always try to find ways to make Shakira's returns noticeable, since they know she's been gone for years. This time around, there will be less promo most likely because the hype around a "Shakira/Rihanna" duet is all the promo they need.

WAKA PEAKED AT # 21 IN THE U.K LOL AND # 38 IN THE U.S ..the countries which sells the most...but u are considering it a massive hit lolllllll ....UNDERNEATH YOUR CLOTHES WAS NOT EVEN # 1 IN THE U.S ..UK OR CANADA...YOUR DEFINITION OF MASSIVE HIT IS FUNNY LOL You need to research Waka a little more: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waka_Waka_(This_Time_for_Africa)WW/UYC were big hits in the US. This was during a time when pop songs had a hard time charting on the hot 100. This was 2000, Britney also had this problem, all pop stars had that problem around that time. Back then top 10 for a pop song on the hot 100 was a big deal. Still, both songs were top 10 in the US. Underneath Your Clothes was the #6 song for 2002 on the worldwide chart, Whenever Wherever was #1: www.mediatraffic.de/countdown2002.htmHDL was the #1 song of 2006 worldwide. www.mediatraffic.de/tracks-2006.htmLa Tortura was the #5 song of 2005 worldwide: www.mediatraffic.de/tracks-2005.htmShe Wolf was the #21 song of 2009 worldwide: www.mediatraffic.de/tracks-2009.htmTwice she's had the biggest song of the year worldwide. Having the biggest hit of the year worldwide is a big deal. Madonna & Shakira are the only ones to have two songs on the list. Check out the others: www.mediatraffic.de/previous.htm2013 Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke 2012 Somebody That I Used To Know - Gotye 2011 Rolling In The Deep - Adele 2010 California Gurls - Katy Perry 2009 Poker Face - Lady GaGa 2008 Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis 2007 Umbrella - Rihanna feat. Jay-Z 2006 Hips Don't Lie - Shakira2005 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams - Green Day 2004 This Love - Maroon 5 2003 Bring Me To Life - Evanescence 2002 Whenever, Wherever - Shakira2001 It Wasn't Me - Shaggy 2000 Madonna - Music 1999 Cher - Believe 1998 Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On

What does Christina Aguilera have to do with this song? Did she co-write it or something? I'm confused and I don't care enough to read through the trash on the last few pages.
I am looking forward to hearing this though. Rihanna has been hit or miss for me since forever - come to think of it, so has Shakira - but both are capable of delivering smashes. Hips Don't Lie is such a gem and hearing it immediately brings me back to 2006, which was probably the best year of my life.
Someone ring me when this song is out.

If critics are giving her material high marks they must be listening to her non English music.

Metacritic is just a roundup of initial reviews for an album; for a more telling look, one should look at year-end lists, to see how titles stack up against everything else.
Anyhow, this should do well, at least out of the gate.

I couldn't read the entire discussion but Shakira is a HUGE name worldwide. Most people in the US probably don't realize just how popular she is in the non-English speaking countries. "Waka Waka" was huge too. It was the World Cup season and the song was literally EVERYWHERE.

I respect her even if I do not respect her career choices. They proven to be successful though. There is a reason she is the the only truly successful latin american artist stateside.

Will this debut in the Top 10 on the Hot 100 next week? If it's really good (like We Found Love good), is there an outside chance of #1 assuming it's available for streaming right away too? I respect her even if I do not respect her career choices. They proven to be successful though. There is a reason she is the the only truly successful latin american artist stateside. Good luck.

quote from someone that heard the song:
"I told you, the song is a mix between she wolf and where have you been" "The song's a hit. 10/10 for me. Been listening to it since I got it. Fantastic vocals, killer verses and amazing beats. + What I said before, ethereal-mystice vibe. You just gotta listen to it to judge properly, and you will soon" "Believe me, it costed me tears of blood to get the song! Labels don't normally send out singles in advance, just albums. I can't say anything about who's singing "this or that part" nor any lyrics. Just wait till Monday, it's gonna be worth it." "I already said that it has dance beats but it's not generic, it's dancey but the instrumental is really SOLID. It's the natural evolution of "She wolf" but more dancey." "Yes, the verses are rock infused, it's not like they are ROCK ROCK. It's more about how they are singing it :smileytongue: And that's all I can say!"

Shaki's music is of much greater quality than Christina's. That is highly debatable. I mean, I'd much rather listen to a Christina album - even Bionic or Lotus - than sit through one of Shakira's (though I did enjoy She Wolf).

I think Donde Estan Los Ladrones is better than every one of Christina's albums, both are great artists though of course.

Quality is subjective, of course, but Shakira has done very well with critics going on over 15 years now.
Much of the English-speaking world isn't aware of her level of success or respect. I'd probably be in the same boat though if I were judging her on "Whenever, Wherever" and "Hips Don't Lie".

Currently jamming to the She Wolf album; such a great and underrated pop album. It's short and sweet with absolutely no filler- 'She Wolf', 'Did It Again', 'Why Wait', 'Good Stuff', 'Men In This Town', etc. such feel good, greatly produced and flawlessly sung songs. I think the best thing about Shaki is that she is so not generic, even with a generic song like 'Give it Up To Me' her vocals and swagger give it such a different vibe. She's just a cool ass chick

Will this debut in the Top 10 on the Hot 100 next week? If it's really good (like We Found Love good), is there an outside chance of #1 assuming it's available for streaming right away too? If it doesn't leak before its intended release, it will be released on Monday, January 13, 2014. This will be: -The first day of tracking for sales for the 2/1 chart. -The first day of tracking for streaming for the 2/1 chart.* -The sixth day of tracking for airplay for the 1/25 chart.** If it gets very strong out-of-the-gate airplay, it will debut in the low region of the 1/25 chart off of two days of airplay. If not, then a top ten debut is definitely possible for the 2/1 chart assuming it has strong reaction in the three components. Number one (as a debut or in its second week of charting) is not out of the question (simply because we haven't heard it yet and have no indication of how out-of-the-gate reaction will be for it on all three fronts), but it would require some very big numbers to do so. The top three is highly competitive right now with "The Monster," "Timber," and "Counting Stars" and it's only getting more competitive as "Say Something" and "Dark Horse" continue to climb. *They may not put it on straight away onto an official account, but there will be several YouTube videos of its audio from fans along with fan made lyric videos, all which count towards its streaming. Though, it should be noted that even with an official source of audio for it on YouTube/VEVO and/or the on-demand services such as Spotify, it's first week of streaming is likely to be low. Streaming tends to always start out low unless it's a hyped music video release or goes viral for some reason. **Of course, if it does leak over the weekend, then it will more than likely debut in the low end of the Hot 100 on the 1/25 chart because I'm sure this will get a lot of radio attention on its first week (I'm honestly shocked we haven't heard anything about a hourly deal or something yet). If it doesn't leak, then two days may not be enough, but if it leaks earlier, it could be just the extra boost it needs to debut low from airplay and what little streaming points it would have as well. (Interesting how digital is the only one labels have 100% control over.)

That sketch above reminds me so much of "No More Tears (Enough is Enough)", the original (and so far, best) clash of the divas. Let's see if ShakRiri can live up to their predecessors!
