The Way I Feel is my favorite album of the 00s, but after he released it, he completely disappeared and no one heard from him for a decade. He recently announced he's putting out a new album titled Executive Decisions. No word on a release date.
Two new songs
Listen to "The Best In Me" on his Bandcamp page. There are also some other instrumentals, demos, and live tracks for download there.
He follows his followers back. He seems very interactive with fans.
I feel like such a fangirl. I've been obsessed with his album for the past 12 years, and for awhile, I questioned if he was even alive. He went into complete and total reclusion. Now he's all over social media and interacting with his fans. Loving music in 2014 so far!
I am wondering how the industry will react to his return. I just hope that he actually releases some quality product.
Unless he gets signed to a new deal, he's recording the album himself on his Remy Records label and distributing it through Bandcamp. So I don't know if I really expect him to sell much outside of his fanbase, considering his promotion will probably be word of mouth through social media (which he's doing a good job at so far-- this got a lot of attention in the past few days). Fortunately, he's immensely talented (writes, produces, plays all the instruments on his material, designs his own cover art, etc.), so he doesn't really need a label if he's just doing music for the love of music.
How weird! I just got into his music... Like, literally the other day I listened to his album after a friend of mine recommended it to me. I loved a lot of it... Nice smooth vibe throughout, and I liked his falsetto. Definitely interested in new material from him!
Yeah, it's weird. His comeback started getting a lot of attention this past week, but "Where Are We Going" has been on YouTube since last May. I guess people gave up on him so much that no one bothered seeking out new Remy Shand.
Take a message from my love...take a message from my love. Take A Message!
I was gonna say "Who da FUQ" until I saw this line. I remember that song. Never heard anything else from him but the only neo-soul (if that's what you call it) that I ever listened to was Erykah Badu, India. Arie, Maxwell, and D'Angelo. I'll have to check him out.
